Hell Hath No Fury Like the Illegal Alien Amnesty Lobby ScornedIra Mehlman, National Media Director for FAIR Last week, the pro-illegal alien amnesty lobby announced a $100 public relations campaign - financed in part by the Mexican government - to convince the American public that we could not survive without illegal immigrants. They claim to have already raised $25 million. Now FAIR has learned that the pro-amnesty lobby is planning to ratchet up its smear campaign against FAIR and others who advocate immigration enforcement and policies that place the interests of the American public first. The Brave New Foundation, a Los Angeles-based group, is producing an "expose" on the immigration reform movement. The Brave New Foundation is headed up by well-known filmmaker Robert Greenwald, who has produced numerous high profile documentaries http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0339254/ , including the 2003 film, Outfoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism. The project is also being backed by People for the American Way, an organization that has repeatedly launched ad hominem attacks against FAIR and others working for sensible immigration reform. Since the defeat of the Bush-Kennedy amnesty bill and other smaller amnesty bills in 2007, there has been a well-coordinated strategy on the part of the amnesty lobby to attack FAIR and other groups that helped block passage of those bills. We can expect to see much more of these vicious attacks in 2008. From: Rudi Navarra Dear Friends, Democracia USA has been approached with an exciting opportunity to advance the immigration debate, and I'm writing to ask for your help. The Brave New Foundation, a non-profit that specializes on producing documentaries on progressive issues, is putting together a short documentary on the virulent anti-immigrant attacks by Right Wing politicians and media personalities. If you have any video or audio you would like to contribute to the documentary or have any ideas for its production, please let me know. The material could be video shot by your organization, news stories depicting anti-immigrant attacks, etc. If the video is online, you can send links or files to Leda Maliga at [] and Jim Miller []. If you have a hard copy of the video, you can mail them directly to: Leda Maliga The documentary, once completed, will be distributed with the help of progressive organizations in February/March 2008. If you have some further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jonathan Marrero at []. Thank you in advance for your help in bringing the Right's dangerous demagoguery to light.
