White House Holds Yet Another Immigration Meeting

Amnesty and Reelection Supporters Strategize for Second Time in 7 Days

By FAIR's Media team

On the heels of last week's White House immigration meeting that promised to represent a "broad range of interests" but delivered nothing but a roomful of amnesty advocates, FAIR has just learned that the White House held another immigration meeting today, ostensibly to "fix our broken immigration system."

As FAIR advised you, last week's conference was stacked with sanctuary city politicians, business leaders desperate to keep their cheap foreign labor flowing, and powerful immigrant special interests.

This week's surprise meeting was equally one-sided.

The L.A. Times reports that the meeting was an "eclectic mix of Latino entertainers, media personalities and activists for another meeting with President Obama to discuss his goal of enacting immigration reform."

USA Today reports that today's group meeting with Obama and senior White House aides Valerie Jarrett and David Plouffe include:

  • Ugly Betty star America Ferrera
  • Musician and producer Emilio Estefan
  • Telemundo anchor Jose Diaz-Balart
  • Actress Rosario Dawson
  • Journalist Barbara Bermudo
  • Univision host Don Francisco

Bob Dane, FAIR's Communications Director said, "shortly after the President announced his ambition to be reelected, he restarted the amnesty agenda to rev up his much needed Hispanic voting base. Last week, he pandered to business and immigrant special interests; this week, he is courting Hollywood media figures. The American public - the true stakeholders of immigration policy - have and will continue to be kicked aside as this President tosses around the immigration political football for his benefit only."
