ICE Continues to Lag in Checking Flight School Students
"The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been screening foreign flight school students for criminal and immigration transgressions because the Sept. 11, 2001 hijackers like Mohammed Atta took flight lessons while in the United States to learn how to hijack commercial airliners and turn them into missiles. But the investigation of TJ Aviation demonstrated that ICE and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) had not effectively implemented a screening program to prevent similar exploitation of US resources from occurring again, warned a report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Wednesday," says Homeland Security Today.
