Hazleton Law Back in Court
The legal challeng to Hazleton's immigration ordiance was re-heard by a 3rd Circut Court of Appeals panel yesterday. The judges' questions focused on the practical implementation of the law and the impact of the Supreme Court SB 1070 ruling, the Times-Tribune reported. "Kris Kobach, the attorney for Hazleton, said 'the city definitely is encouraging illegal aliens to leave,' but so does federal law. He cited examples from federal law that prohibit anyone from helping an unauthorized immigrant to stay in the country and a ban on providing public benefits to unauthorized immigrants."
