Driving the American Way "A Washington Post article earlier this month about immigrants and driving provides interesting fodder for thought, and unknowingly provides some support to the notion -- better, the reality -- that immigration is primarily a cultural phenomenon and cannot be understood simply in terms of economics, or even social justice. There are those who, in the debate about immigration, legal and illegal, conveniently prefer to ignore the cultural impact of large numbers of newcomers: newcomers who are not American, who are not familiar with American ways of interacting, American social expectations, or American traditions," says Dominique Peridans at the CIS blog.
