AZ. Gov Brewer Moves to Block Licenses for Amnesty Recipients

"Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Wednesday ordered state agencies to deny driver's licenses and other public benefits to young illegal immigrants who obtain work authorizations under a new Obama administration policy. After the order was issued, supporters of the program and the DREAM Act took to the streets of Phoenix in protest. Video from Air15 showed the protesters carrying signs and walking down Central Avenue toward the State Capitol," ABC15.com reports.

In a related editorial, the Boston Herald points out that states that welcome illegal aliens are likely to see more amnesty recipients move there. "Now there is a school of thought that with a legal Social Security number there's nothing to prohibit illegal immigrants from obtaining a driver's license or applying for in-state tuition at public colleges and universities. This being Massachusetts -- where the governor actually vetoed a provision in the state budget requiring drivers prove legal U.S. residency to obtain a motor vehicle registration -- you can bet that will happen in a heartbeat (also by executive fiat no doubt). Other states are unlikely to be as generous."
