Colbert Testifies in Character to Support Ag Jobs for Illegal Aliens

"The comic pundit Stephen T. Colbert, with tongue in cheek and fully in character, blustered his way through a four-minute speech about immigration reform in front of a House subcommittee Friday morning," notes the Washington Post. Colbert's message was, "Working on a farm is so hard that Americans don't want to do it, so immigration and labor laws should be reformed to allow illegal crop workers a clean path to citizenship."

Union Calls off Arizona Boycott After Pressure from Democrats

"With its endorsed candidates under pressure, leaders of state's largest grocery union on Thursday called off its boycott of Arizona," Capitol Media Services reports. "Republicans organized a coordinated effort calling on anyone endorsed by the UFCW to renounce the union support because of the boycott call, including a TV commercial by Brewer saying Terry Goddard, her Democratic opponent, is endorsed by 'big labor organizations who are financially supporting the boycott of Arizona businesses.'"

ICE Claims Success in Deportation Strategy

"Every day millions of people are hiding in plain sight. They see police and police see them, but nothing seems to happen. However, more may be happening behind the scenes than most people think," WCSC TV reports. "Washington has been clear about our goal and that's to focus on the criminal aliens and those who pose the greatest threat to you, I or anyone else in the community," said the Regional Director for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Barbara Gonzalez.
