Amnesty Push a Test of Obama's Pull With Congress
Politics Daily says that despite the rhetoric coming from DHS Secretary Napolitano, the real test of the coming amnesty push will be how much pull Obama has after a year of bruising votes on health care and other issues. "Even after the administration has now upped the rhetorical ante, the political mystery is how much appetite Congress has for another high-decibel debate before the 2010 elections. By all accounts, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada, who is locked in a tough reelection fight in a state that is one quarter Hispanic, is determined to make the fight."

Dan Griswold: Don't Forget Our Cheap Guest Workers, Mr. President!
Daniel Griswold with the open-borders CATO institute says that DHS Secretary Napolitano left out the key element for selling amnesty - a massive guest-worker program to bring in millions more cheap workers with broad unemployment close to 20%. Griswold says that this won't harm U.S. workers, because illegal immigration has followed the economy down, and when the economy recovers there will be plenty of jobs for everyone. Arpaio Runs Two Day Sweep Targeting Illegal Alien Smugglers
Sheriff Joe Arpaio said his deputies were running a two-day sweep to combat illegal immigrant smuggling in Maricopa County. Arpaio said he was enforcing Arizona's tough anti-human smuggling law. Phoenix leads the country by far in kidnappings, and drop-houses throughout the Phoenix area contain thousands of illegal immigrants held hostage until their smuggling fees are paid.
