Salazar: Amnesty Push Will Start When Votes Add Up

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said the Obama administration expected to begin its amnesty push when enough votes were found to pass it. The Spanish-language paper La Opinion said that Salazar gave his amnesty timeline at meeting for Hispanic publications. Salazar said that he along with DHS secretary Janet Napolitano and Labor Secretary Hilda Solis were strategizing on the amnesty bill.

Proposed 287(g) Program for Houston A Hot Topic for Council

The Houston City Council debated implementing a 287(g) program, similar to the one adopted by Harris County. The Council heard testimony from concerned citizens of Houston, who noted that crime had decreased once the 287(g) program began deporting illegal alien criminals. Houston's status as a sanctuary city for illegal immigrants has been hotly contested following the murder of several police officers in the last few years by illegal immigrants.
