DC Area Gangs Move to Sanctuary Cities Ahead of Enforcement
The Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force report found that as a result of immigration enforcement in Northern Virginia, gang members are moving to the District of Columbia and parts of Maryland, where sanctuary city policies protect them from deportation. Montgomery County, where police are discouraged from trying to deport gang members, has become a haven for criminal gangs.

Report Examines Impact of 287(g)
A new report from the Center for Immigration Studies examines the performance so far of the 287(g) program, with an eye toward making improvements. The Obama administration made several changes to the 287(g) program, limiting its scope and effectiveness but the program can still provide protection for communities around the country.

Witness Details Agriprocessors Immigration Crimes
Elizabeth Billmeyer, human resources manager with Agriprocessors, who has pled guilty to harboring illegal immigrants, testified this week in the trial of Sholom Rubashkin, who managed the Agriprocessors plant raided by ICE. Billmeyer said that Rubashkin knew the company was hiring illegal immigrants and even went so far as to set up a separate payroll system for these workers without her knowledge so they could continue to work there. The case against Rubashkin centers on whether he lied to company lenders about being in compliance with federal law.
