Debra Saunders: SF Mayor Gives Illegal Drivers Another Legal Out
Columnist Debra Saunders describes the latest policy shift by San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom. The police will be prevented from impounding cars driven by illegal aliens without a drivers' license if the illegal immigrant can find a licensed driver to drive their car away. "Talk to City Hall about how expensive it is to park, and city solons will tell you there is no right to drive. But if you break federal immigration law, they'll work on it."

Prince William Re-Signs 287(g) Agreement
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors has authorized a new 287(g) agreement with DHS so that the county can continue to locate and deport illegal alien criminals. "Under the new agreement, the actions taken against 'level one,' or the most serious, offenders will not change. The jail will put a detainer on inmates in the country illegally, and once they finish their sentence, ICE will pick them up."

DHS Update on Anti-Gang Enforcement
DHS officials said there were over 300 gang arrests in Los Angeles as part of a broader anti-gang effort, part of Operation Community Shield. "Federal agents identify gang leaders and their associates and quickly seek their prosecution and possible deportation from the country."

Bratton Touts Flawed Sanctuary Policy
"Some in Los Angeles have asked why the LAPD doesn't participate [in 287(g)]. My officers can't prevent or solve crimes if victims or witnesses are unwilling to talk to us because of the fear of being deported," says LA Police Chief William Bratton in a LA Times op-ed. Bratton touts the flawed Police Foundation ( which was founded by the Ford Foundation) report from earlier this year that endorsed a hands-off policy toward illegal immigrants by police.
