CNN Poll: 75% of Americans Want Illegal Immigration Decreased

A new poll by CNN found that seventy-three percent of those surveyed wanted a reduction in the number of illegal immigrants in the U.S. Thirty-seven percent wanted all illegal immigrants deported immediately.

Baca Fires Back, Attempts to Stop All Census Data Collection on Citizenship

Rep. Joe Baca (D-CA) has introduced his own Census related legislation, in response to attempts in the Senate to have the Census Bureau count all illegal immigrants. The Bill would prohibit asking about "any information regarding United States citizenship or immigration status."

Giffords Introduces Bill to Triple H-1B Cap

"Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) introduced legislation to Congress that would double the H-1B cap, and in some circumstances triple it. The way it would work is that the yearly cap of 65,000 would be raised to 130,000 but if 130,000 H-1Bs were actually used, the cap would go up to 180,000 the following year," the Job Destruction Newsletter reported.

Louisiana Schools Pay $1,600 Per H-1B Teacher

The Caddo Parish School Board in Louisiana is finding the true cost of cheap foreign labor higher than they expected. School board members learned they are paying $1,600 to each Filipino teacher recruited through the H-1B program, in addition to a $400,000 fund for reimbursing other claims filed by those teachers. The move comes after widespread allegations of abuse by foreign teachers brought into Louisiana by a labor company. "Among the allegations is that the company charged teachers an exorbitant amount of money, about $15,000, to secure a teaching position in the United States and proper documentation. Once they arrived, teachers then were charged 10 percent of their monthly income," the Shreveport Times reported.
