LA Police Move Against Hispanic Street Gang Terrorizing Black Community
Police staged a massive anti-gang arrest operation targeting the Avenues (Avenidas) street gang in Los Angeles. "Members of the largely Hispanic gang would also spray paint racist threats around neighborhoods to intimidate black people, according to prosecutors," the New York Times reported.

Probation, No Prison for Business Owners in First Obama Raid Case
Shafique Amirali Dhanani and Shirin Dhanani Makala with Yamato Engine Specialists were sentenced to a year probation, instead of the fines and prison originally sought as part of a plea agreement. The case was the first significant raid during the Obama administration, and prompted DHS secretary Napolitano to choke off worksite enforcement operations.

Del Rio Texas Cracks Down on Cross Border Students
School district Superintendent Kelt Cooper says he was just trying to enforce the law when he told upwards of 400 students they needed to show proof of residency in the school district to continue to attend class. Many students, who are anchor children, live in Mexico but cross the border to attend free classes in the U.S. "Bob Dane, a spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, said Cooper's bridge stakeout prevented parents from taking advantage of a 'duty-free education.'"

Is ICE Trying To Steer Police Away From 287(g)?
Davis County, Utah, deputies have been denied enrollment in the 287(g) program. The denial comes after a year of waiting from the initial application. "They didn't give us a reason for the denial, but we're thinking it's money," said a spokesman for Davis County.
