President Obama on YouTube: Amnesty Will Allow Illegal Aliens to Get Healthcare Coverage
While continuing to emphasize that illegal aliens will not be covered under his proposed healthcare reform plan, President Obama did tell the audience at a Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) gala on Wednesday evening that this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform (read amnesty) and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people. Arpaio Focuses on ACORN
Sheriff Joe Arpaio is taking the fight to that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Claiming that they are using government funds in their campaign against his fight over illegal immigration, his office has requested records regarding the group's involvement in racial profiling cases.

Nashville Sheriff Says 287(g) Program Will Continue
Sheriff Daron Hall says that the 287(g) program to identify illegal immigrants will continue to operate despite concerns about how it may conflict with Tennessee's open records law. The ACLU, which opposes 287(g) nevertheless weighed in on the side of Hall, because the ACLU uses open-records requests to make spurious claims of profiling in an effort to derail immigration enforcement at the local level.

Illegal Immigrants to be Allowed Admission to N.C. Community Colleges
Illegal immigrants will be allowed to attend North Carolina community colleges under a policy change likely to be approved by the State Board of Community Colleges. "It's hard for me to understand how the state of North Carolina can educate people when they can't work legally in the state after they're educated," said Governor Bev Perdue.
