August 25, 2009 National Review Wakes Up on Illegal Immigration and California Alex Alexiev says that many of California's problems can be tied to illegal immigration. He notes the impact on education, health care and the state's future as a hub for high-tech employment.
USCIS Making Surprise Visits to H-1B Employers EWeek says that Citizenship and Immigration Services is making surprise visits to employers of H-1B visa holders. The on-site visits are intended to audit the application data and make sure that no fraud or abuse are occurring. The visits come after a report last year found that one-fifth of all H-1B visas issued involved some form of violation or fraud.
Employers Say E-Verify Easy to Use Mississippi employers are the latest to find out the benefits of using the E-verify system. After July 1st, government contractors there were required to use the system for new hires. Contractors praised the speed and reliability of the system for verifying new hires.
