Obama Administration Promises Detention Overhaul

ICE says it will be revamping the detention program after criticism from immigrant groups. Currently ICE uses contracts with local prisons around the country to house detainees. ICE says that as part of the review it will stop housing detained families at a facility in Texas, and move them all to Pennsylvania. "This is one in a continuous stream of announcements from the administration that appears to potentially redirect resources away from what Americans want most, which is an increase in interior apprehensions, enforcement and removal," said FAIR president Dan Stein.



 



Washington Farmers Get Crash Course in Hiring

The Washington State Farm Bureau is running classes for farmers used to ignoring the legal requirements for I-9 forms and other basic documentation. The Obama administration has promised more enforcement against employers and less worksite arrests.



 



Sen. Lindsay Graham Helps Schumer in Support of Amnesty

Sen. Lindsay Graham is working behind the scenes with Sen. Chuck Schumer to get Republican support for an expected mass amnesty bill to be introduced in September. Sen. John McCain faces primary challengers over his support of amnesty legislation during the last Congress, and Democrats in Congress have been working to find a Republican who will push for amnesty.
