Valley Park Ruling Could Have Nationwide Consequences

A three-judge panel of the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday unanimously affirmed a lower court's ruling in favor of the city of Valley Park (MO) upholding a law that bars the hiring of illegal immigrants. Senior counsel Kris Kobach of the Immigration Reform Law Institute, FAIR's legal body, represented the city in this case and said that regardless of whether the city is enforcing the law, publicity about it appears to be deterring businesses from hiring illegal immigrants in Valley Park. Immigration to Weigh Heavily in TX Race for Governor

Illegal immigration is a huge issue in Texas and will have a deep effect on the primary race between Gov. Rick Perry and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX). One issue that is sure to come up is Bailey Hutchison's support for a fence along the U.S.-Mexico border and subsequent vote to limit funding for that project.
