Heavy Immigration Threatens our Cohesiveness as a Nation

The Census Bureau projects that the U.S. population will reach 439 million in 2050, a 56 percent increase over the 2000 census. The Hispanic population in 2050 is projected at 133 million - 30 percent of the total and almost quadruple the 2000 level. Lawrence Harrison writes in the Christian Science Monitor that the US must get serious about the tide of legal and illegal immigrants before it's too late. Immigration and Same Sex Marriage

The Uniting American Families Act of 2009, currently gaining support in Congress, would amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to allow U.S. citizens to sponsor same-sex permanent partners to immigrate legally to the U.S. and live and work here permanently. State Senator Makes Strong Pitch for E-Verify

Massachusetts state Senator Scott Brown says that using the E-Verify program is the only way to make sure that jobs created by the Stimulus Package go to legally-eligible employees. With more than 113,000 businesses currently using E-Verify nationwide Sen. Brown thinks, and FAIR couldn't agree more, that making this system mandatory is one great way to start addressing our illegal immigration problem. You can read the whole story from Boston.com here.
