Countries Refusing to Take Deportees Would Face Sanctions Under Proposal

"Rebecca Harrison clutched a red folder of court papers detailing her ex-husband's molestation conviction from 16 years earlier, waiting for her case to be called by a Harris County family court judge. 'I just can't believe it,' she said, warily eyeing her ex-husband, Mohammed Malekzadeh, a native of Iran, as he sat on a wooden bench in the hallway outside the courtroom Tuesday. 'We always assumed he would be deported when he finished his sentence. Everyone did. It's scary,'" the Houston Chronicle reports. "Rep. Dent (R-Pa.) has co-sponsored a House bill that mirrors legislation proposed by U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., that would amend the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 to prohibit providing aid to countries that deny or unreasonably delay attempts to send back their citizens. The bills also contain provisions that would prohibit U.S. officials from issuing visas to people from countries that block the repatriation of immigrants."

AMERICA:

THE WORLDS DUMPING GROUND!

Posted by: American Me on October 13, 2008 12:20 PM

I don't get what the problem is. Our gov has been doing extraordinary renditions for some time, just use the same system to get these people out of the country and then let the individuals sort it out with their homeland. It's their problem, it shouldn't be ours.

Posted by: Antiquarian on October 13, 2008 04:25 PM

When are the leaders of this country going to "grow a set" and stop bending over for the rest of the world???

I have to tell you, if I were a foreigner with no real concept of America, I would have no respect for the U.S. or its laws, either.

I'm not a foreigner however, and as an American I am demanding, DEMANDING, the same respect and consideration that any other nation would expect from me.

HE'S PROBABLY A TERRORIST TOO?

Posted by: Softwarengineer on October 14, 2008 12:34 PM

Haven't been here for awhile, but glad to be back.
It is about time something like this materialized. Am I reading it right, that Arlen Specter is a co-sponsor? Well, he is a politician, I guess. I can't believe we were wimpy enough to just take this lying down in the first place. Let those countries take back their scum and deal with them. We don't want them here.

Md. County Enforcement Working, Draws Complaints from Usual Sources

"In the six months since the Frederick County Sheriff's Office began working closely with federal immigration authorities, 183 illegal immigrants have been identified, detained and put on track for deportation, a crackdown that has spooked the area's Latino community and provoked accusations by rights groups of ethnic profiling," the Washington Post writes. "Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, the first law enforcement official in Maryland to sign a cooperative agreement with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said that since April, about 9 percent of all people arrested and taken to the county detention center have proven to be illegal immigrants. He called those results a success and said he has been flooded with calls from officials in other counties and states who want to follow suit."

WHINING AND SHAMELESS BABY WAVING!

ANY ATTEMPT AT ENFORCEMENT, AND THE RACISM WHINING IS SURE TO FOLLOW... TO THESE PRO-ILLEGAL ALIEN NUTS, ONLY AMERICAN CITIZENS HAVE TO FOLLOW THE LAWS, AND THE ILLEGAL ALIENS CAN DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.

THERE ARE TWO SETS OF LAWS IN THIS COUNTRY, ONE FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS, AND ANOTHER FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS!

He said he had just started his car when he saw police lights flashing. An officer approached and said he had been stopped for not wearing a seat belt and not having his infant son in a car seat. Unable to produce a driver's license or ID, Rodriguez was handcuffed and taken away while his wife, a U.S. citizen, fumed in the passenger seat.

I am American born. I've been pulled over for a seat belt infraction. I am expected to produce a Drivers License AND proof of insurance. If I don't, I get arrested. I know that. And his U.S. citizen wife in the passenger seat should know that. And it's why I wouldn't think of driving a car if I couldn't produce a Drivers License AND proof of insurance. Plus Mr. Rodriguez is here ILLEGALLY. Additionally his infant son isn't in a car seat. That's not racial profiling, that's enforcing the law. I'm getting really pissed that cops are getting flack for doing their jobs from people like Kerry O'Brien, who said:

"They keep saying this is about crime prevention, but we suspect it is really about ridding the community of undocumented immigrants," said Kerry O'Brien, a CASA lawyer. "If they are locking up people and separating families for driving without a license, what is the point of all this?"

Enough with the spin doctoring and lack of accountability of those who are here illegally

Good work sheriff! With 183 illegals arrested, we only have 20 million to go.

Posted by: Rick S on October 13, 2008 04:08 PM

Of course there are complaints...they can't have cheap labor w/ no accountability!

In today's economic climate, the last thing we need is to allow illegals to get the few jobs citizens should be working. We wouldn't need half the welfare in this country if people were expected to help their communities by working in the fields, parks, schools and such!

I'M ON JURY DUTY THIS WEEK FROM A VERY DIVERSE ETHNIC GROUP SEATTLE AREA CITY

Yet, almost all 100 of the jurors [chosen randomly?] are White Caucasion?

That's fair?

Posted by: Softwarengineer on October 14, 2008 12:33 PM

if mr.rodriguez
was here illegally and driver with driver license and no proof insurance and his infant son isn't in a car sea. is law said 3 STRIKE YOU OUT and he have 4 strike on him.

The "author" of the Post piece on Frederick County, Pamela Constable, is one of the worst in drumming up illegal alien sob stories. Her bent is pure leftist. We can only hope the Post ships her back to Afghanistan.

Campaigns Dodge Immigration Issue

"Just a year ago, immigration was a volatile political issue that consumed Congress and ignited passions among Americans on both sides of the debate. These days the presidential candidates barely mention the topic on the campaign trail. The nation's fundamental immigration problems have not been fixed. And with the economy contracting, Americans are likely to feel more discomfort about welcoming immigrants," the San Francisco Chronicle writes. "But Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama have been all but silent on immigration. That's partly because their positions are not far apart, but it's also because both candidates want to duck attacks from their critics."

Note: limited updates due to today's Federal holiday

THOSE TWO OPEN BORDER NUTS WON`T TOUCH THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ISSUE WHEN THEY`RE SPEAKING TO REGULAR AMERICANS, BUT WHEN THEY`RE SPEAKING TO HISPANIC GROUPS, THE HISPANDERING IS FRONT AND CENTER, AND AMNESTY IS THE MAIN SUBJECT OF THEIR SPEECH.

Posted by: American Me on October 13, 2008 12:12 PM

Of course they're not commenting. They're going to wait until after the election and then they will start talking about "comprehensive immigration reform" again. Which is not what it is, it's not reform, it's amnesty, but they refuse to call it that. You can depend on the fact that whatever they're pushing will not be in the interests of the American public, short or long term.

Posted by: Leland on October 13, 2008 02:26 PM

Both these guys are open border crazies who believe American citizens should provide free educations, free health care, free food stamps, etc to the illegal aliens leeches. McCain lost his base and maybe the election when he proposed giving citizenship to illegal aliens.

Posted by: Rick S on October 13, 2008 04:13 PM

Failure to have a stance against illegal immigration will hurt this country, but I believe both candidates plan to offer amnesty as soon as either is elected...it's why neither will get my vote!
