Minuteman Group Protests SF Sanctuary Policy

"A small group of Minuteman Project activists demonstrated Wednesday against this city's sanctuary policy, but their call for Mayor Gavin Newsom's ouster was drowned out by hundreds of chanting immigration rights supporters. Jim Gilchrist, founder of the anti-illegal-immigrant group, stepped inside City Hall, where he told reporters that Newsom should resign because of 'his endorsement and support of sanctuary city status that led to the horrific slayings of the Bologna family,'" the LA Times reports.

"Retired San Francisco probation officer Judith Terracina was one of a dozen or so Minuteman supporters in front of City Hall on Wednesday. Although she is not a member of the group, she said she approved of its efforts to overturn sanctuary city policies. In the adult probation department, she said, 'we had big issues regarding illegal aliens. The issue had to do with our hands being tied. We were ordered not to report them' to federal immigration authorities."

Once again the so called pro-immigration groups became violent. It never fails, they always do. What happened in San Franscisco to the Bologna familey, third generation San Franciscans, was an abomination that Newsom, Feinstein, Boxer, the whole liberal beurocratic establisment in Frisco, indeed, all of Sacramento is responsible for. These lawbreaking traitors are directly responsible for allowing scum like MS-13 to operate in the city and whole State of California.

California always has been a land of fruits and nuts. San Francisco is a prime example!

Posted by: Rick S on July 31, 2008 09:23 PM

I have to hand it to Jim Gilchrist. I think it takes a lot of guts to protest in a city that is full of illegal aliens thanks to San Frans illegal sanctuary policy.

I think the winds are starting to shift just a little. The media can play things all they want but when you have illegal aliens killing families there is only so much the liberal media can do to down play it. There is no way they can avoid the issue that this family would still be alive today if their killer was deported like he should have been long ago.

I find it real interesting and sad that the only way city employees can come out against this policy is after they retire otherwise you know whey would be fired.

Another issue I have with all of this is where is the NSA in all of this. This "gang banger" was a member of MS-13 and as far as I'm concerned these people are nothing more than gangsters and terrorists and are clearly a threat to the United States. I've read multiple stories of MS-13 members killing, raping and doing other things far worse. The NSA and FBI both should be doing everything needed to arrest and deport these thugs. Who in their right mind would want these killers as future citizens.

Good for you Minutemen! Keep up the good work. We need more people like you to save our country from the felons that are crossing our borders daily, and with these "santuary cities", it is making it harder. But you go and do your job anyway. I am proud to be an American and feel the work you are doing is going to help save us. So sad, they have to turn to violence, but what do you expect dealing with people who broke our laws just by coming here? They can't be here for any GOOD. Time to get them out however we can!

Deal Reached on E-Verify, Vote Still Pending

"A group of vulnerable Democrats struck a deal with House leaders and conservative Republicans, agreeing to an extension of an immigration enforcement measure that is set to expire in October. Facing the prospect of returning home to their conservative-leaning districts without having secured a vote on any bill to bolster immigration enforcement, some Democrats spent the last few weeks struggling to come up with a compromise," The Hill newspaper reports. "Led by freshman Democrat Gabrielle Giffords (Ariz.) — who has long pushed for an altogether different employment-verification system — the group settled on a reauthorization of the pilot program known as E-Verify for the next five years, rather than the 10 years that Republicans had originally proposed."

What are we talking about here? You don't make "Deals" where the topic of illegal immigration is concerned. The Democrats have been utterly toxic on this issue. Their intransigence in not allowing Americans to stop illegal immigration has been so damaging. Isn't it interesting the Gabrielle Giffords, "freshman Democrat" is already going behind the backs of those who voted her in just like AWARE PEOPLE KNEW SHE WOULD. Why oh, why do Arizonans and Americans in general put up with these people who are so toxic to our best interests?

Posted by: Bobby on July 31, 2008 05:32 PM

Having Democrats win in traditionally red states is not a bad thing for real immigration reform. Democrats like Heath Shuler, Nancy Boyda and Claire McCaskell have proved that red state Democrats will support enforcement first immigration reform. More of them will greatly complicate the efforts of the Mexican socialist Peolsi Democrats to foist their amnesty first open borders immigration "reform" on the country.

Posted by: MLC 2 on July 31, 2008 09:45 PM

That's wonderful news! E-Verify seems to be working well. It only makes sense that employers choose to use it, it covers their bottoms in the cases of illegals using stolen identity.
However, In some states/counties it's already illegal to rent to illegal immigrants, with more states/counties to follow. How about a system on the same order for multi-housing properties?
Just a thought...

Posted by: M. Flores on August 1, 2008 02:29 AM

The reason the Dems don't want e-verify is because it actually works and helps us to weed out their "future voters" if they get their way and turn all illegal aliens into citizens.

Remittances to Mexico Decline

"The amount of money sent home by Mexican migrants declined 2.2 percent during the first six months of 2008, showing what analysts said are the effects of the U.S. economic downturn and the nationwide crackdown on illegal immigrants. The funds transmitted, known as familial remittances, totaled $11.6 billion during the first six months of the year, compared with $11.9 billion during the same period last year, according to numbers released yesterday by Mexico's central bank," the Washington Post reports. "Helped by increased migration and lower money-transfer costs, remittances to Mexico had soared over the past decade, reaching a high in 2007 of just under $24 billion, more than 5 1/2 times than the amount sent 10 years earlier. Experts who study these money flows began noticing a slowdown early this year."

Boo hoo. Perhaps illegal aliens from Mexico need to go back their by the millions, you know those brave ones who attack Americans here during protests of their illegal presence--and actually attack their beloved government of Mexico so that remittances wouldn't be needed in that essentially rich nation.

More Evidence Enforcement Works, As Illegal Immigrant Population Declines

"A report released yesterday by a Washington think tank that advocates stricter limits on immigration says the number of illegal immigrants in the country appears to have declined significantly over the past year, at least partly because of the chilling effect of stepped-up enforcement. The study by the Center for Immigration Studies based its findings on census data that indicate that the number of less-educated, working-age Hispanic immigrants, defined as 18-to-40-year-olds with a high school diploma or less, has dropped by more than 10 percent, or about 830,000 people, since last August," the Washington Post reports. "Previous research suggests that a large share of less-educated foreigners is in the country illegally and that it makes up the bulk of the illegal immigrant population."

DUH!

It`s just common sense... If you actually enforce the immigration laws on the books, of course the illegal alien numbers will decline... That`s why we don`t need "comprehensive immigration reform", political cover words for amnesty... That`s just propaganda from the pro-illegal alien, corporate puppet politicians to push their own agenda, to please their corporate masters, and special interests.

ATTRITION THROUGH ENFORCEMENT WORKS!

There is also an increase in California of the activities of the traitors in public office giving more priviledges to illegal aliens such as In State tuition to attend colleges, that they shouldn't be attending AT ANY COSTS TO AMERICAN CITIZENS.

Overpopulation has destroyed America's economy through uncontrolled growth: look at energy supply scarcity, water shortages, clogged damaged infrastructure, national debt, etc, etc

Look at empty restaurants, movie theaters, hotels in your home towns, etc, etc.

Where are legal Americans going to work, let alone more uncontrolled overpopulation that caused this mess?

North American Union Theorist Not Optimistic

"The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America is dead, says Robert A. Pastor, the American University professor who for more than a decade has been a major proponent of building a North American Community. "The new president will probably discard the SPP," Pastor wrote in an article titled "The Future of North America," published in the current July/August issue of the Council on Foreign Relations magazine Foreign Affairs," Worldnetdaily reports. "The SPP, which critics contend is a step toward a North American Union, is an agreement to increase cooperation on security and economic issues signed by the leaders of the U.S., Mexico and Canada in 2005. Despite having no authorization from Congress, the Bush administration launched extensive working-group activity to implement the agreement. The working groups – ranging from e-commerce, to aviation policy, to borders and immigration – have counterparts in Mexico and Canada."

The names of the politicians that appointed them must be made public so that we may kick their worthless-asses out of office. Just when did this government think they had the right to obfuscate total authority from, "we the people"?!!
At least 2/3 of this Congress must be fired. Please, look up the voting record of your personal representatives and act accordingly. I will not be voting for Senator John Cornyn because of his propensity to back H-1B visas that do nothing but take jobs away from American citizens.

How many politicians have promised border security, a fence, or sanctions on employers? How many have promised that amnesty is 'dead', and that they would never bring it up again? If their lips are moving, they're lying.

The white people are the cause of all the problems in the world pandemic is alive and well- congress just made yet another apology for the evils that white people caused for slavery and Jim Crow laws, etc in pre 21st century America (no other race ever committed any sins, only non-elite white people were evil doers). Look for all "citizens of the world" taking a turn at whacking the white-middle class America pinata for their share of our redistributed wealth if Obama becomes commander-in-chief. Hurricane Obama is about to make land fall in once 21st century America. Posted by: Vickie on July 31, 2008 02:56 AM

The Council of Foreign Relations was started in 1921 by Edward Mandell House. He was President Woodrow Wilson's closest advisor and the chief architect for the League of Nations. It is currently comprised of around 4,000 members of government, finance, industry, the media and academy. Members have dominated every administration since Eisenhower. Our political system has come under the control of a bunch of elites, who have learned how to control access to the Republican and Democratic nominating process and to set the terms of political debate by manipulating public opinion. It is a internationalist, socialist minded organization open to people only with the correct pedigrees. One has to be nominated by a member and have letters written by members to join. I can't find a full membership list but Brian Williams, Katie Couric, Barbara Walters, Dan Rather, Tom Brokaw, Lesley Stahl and Fareed Zakaria are some of the media members as are past presidents. vice presidents and cabinet members. Of the 13 members of Obama's Senior Working Group on National Security 8 are CFR Members and One is a former member. Other advisors are also members. So, when he touts change, change, change--it won't happen--this group of elites will dictate policy to him and he'd better follow it or he won't be the chosen one. Makes me sick. Every Federal Reserve chairman since the Truman Administration has been one. The Washington Post even said in 1993 that this group was "the nearest thing we have to a ruling establishment in the United States."

Posted by: jaded on July 31, 2008 03:57 PM

The Council on Foreign Relations is by far the most prominent of the number of front organizations in the US. Another of the co-founders John Foster Dulles was one of America's most important 20th century foreign policy atchitects. Another co-founder journalist Walter Lippman founded The New Republic and was among the first to promote the idea of major new networks controlled by America's elites to manipulate public opinion in favor of big government or manufacturing consent as he called it in his book "Public Opinion." The goals of the founders were to create a system in which our form of government could be fundamentally changed and a new international order based on a truly global system of governance would be eventually accepted.

In an article written by Charles Scaliger he states, "such policies are calculated to ensure control by a few elites over the nation's finances and international relations, and to fundamentally alter our entire system of government, jettisoning constitutional federalism in favor of oligarchical socialism.

Accordingly, major presidential candidates for several generations have been permitted to propose varying degrees and differing allocations of foreign aid--but not to challenge the constitutionality of foreign aid in the first place. Our degree of participation in UN programs and UN affiliated treated like the Law of the Sea and the Kyoto Accord may be questioned, but not membership in the international body. Subsidies for agriculture, industry, education, welfare recipients, the arts, housing and a wealth of other sectors, may be raised or lowered by never abolished. Whether the Federal Reserve, together with the Treasury Department, chooses to pursue tight or loose money policy is fodder for debate; aboliition of the entire Federal Reserve System is not. America has been saddled with a Federal Reserve System since 1913, with agricultural subsidies and Social Security since the Great Depression, with membership in the UN since the end of WW II, and with massive annual outflows of foreign aid since the post-WWII Marshall Plan, yet not once has any US President questioned the viabililty of such programs."

Obama is also stating he wants to remove troops from Iran and move them to Afghanistan, but what about troops that are in 130 other countries in the world. It seems he is truly following the plan of this organization and there will be no change, change, change if he is elected.

The CFR members in his batch of advisors include Madeleine Albright, David Boren, Warren Christopher, Lee Hamilton, Sam Nunn, William Perry, Susan Rice, James Steinberg, Anthony Lake, Tom Dschle and George Soros.

"Implementation by stealth" has been the plan from the very beginning. The entire Bush administration should be brought up on charges of treason and sedition. Americans must demand an end to politics as usual. No more secret meetings and no more secret societies. If they have nothing to hide then they won't mind everyone knowing what's going on behind closed doors. Traitors plot in secret behing closed doors. It's time to kick the doors down and bring these traitors to justice.

DHS Announces "U-Deport" Self-Deportation

"Rather than risk getting caught, turn yourselves in. That's the latest government strategy in its ongoing effort to dramatically reduce the nation's ballooning population of illegal immigrants. Scheduled to be unveiled next week, it was announced Sunday by Julie Myers, director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, in an interview with a Spanish-language television network," the Houston Chronicle reports. "She said the idea derived from a common complaint voiced by immigrant detainees: If given the opportunity, they'd rather just go home than be holed up in immigration prisons."

If tamper proof photo IDs and E-verify system becomes mandatory with immediate effect, this will automatically eliminate fraud documentation and illegal workforce. Those unable to get jobs will go home. So the option of u-deport is a good idea so long as the E-verify and real IDs are implemented too.

It's so much easier to go home than serve a prison term for criminal activity. The next time I break the the law, I'll just tell the police officer to let me go home and I'll never do it again!? Yes Sir, that makes perfect sense to me?

Will we actually ever get someone running government agencies like ICE, FEMA and the IRS who actually know what the hell they are doing?

Julie Myers was never ever qualified to run ICE and the only reason she got the job was because of who she is married to, plain and simple.

Julie Myers has pretty much destroyed the morale of ICE agents. When career agents are either taking early retirement or transferring to other agencies isn't a red flag I don't know what is.

If I had the job success rating of Julie Myers my ass would have been fired a long time ago but yet somehow these government cronies get jobs they aren't qualified for and just make life that much hard for America citizens (i.e. the people who actually pay their salaries.).

Posted by: Brian on July 30, 2008 04:12 PM

They should never be allowed in the country to begin with though self deportation would be cheaper. Perhaps, they could take the millions of tons of garbage they left along the border back with them. Perhaps, they could leave behind the fake IDs they purchased that made them de facto citizens while they bred their way into taxpayer funds. Perhaps, they could just do something magical to return all the hospitals that went bankrupt or the schools who have become places where no child can learn because the children of these people are holding US citizen children behind. And no, the 14th Amendment doesn't give their children citizenship.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta found the highest rates of TB among immigrants and refugees born in Sub-Saharan African countries including Somalia and Ethiopia, from Southeast Asia including Cambodia and Vietnam; and from parts of Latin America such as Peru. TB is out of control globally but progress has not been made in this country as it had meant that those from high risk countries who were allowed into the us accounted for 4,035 TB cases in 2006. They had the TB before they departed their homelands and I'll bet dollars to donuts they knew they had it. US cases among foreign born persons rose 5% during the period from 1993 to 2006. They accounted for 57% of all US cases by 2006 and one can only surmise they have gotten higher since then. 22% of the 37 million foreign born people in the US came from sub Saharan Africa and SE Asia, but they account for more than half of the TB casees among those born outside the US. Most TB cases develop within the first two years of entry into the country, but the disease can show up decades later. TB is globally endemic with 9 million people becoming ill each year and 2 million dying from the disease. One out of 3 people globally have been exposed to the microbes that caue the disease. Most troublesome are the Drug resistant ones and one out of every 5 TB cases come from Vietnam, Peru, the Philippines and China. Then there is HIV/AIDS and Chagras Disease and other parasitic diseases.
So, lover of illegals, it is not just about what is deserving according to you. It is about protection of our society and our soveriegnty. It is about knowing that people who want to come to this country have some morals and values and integrity, though it appears you have forgotten what those words mean. It means strength and honor and the ability to be the best human one can be in the greatest nation in the world. I am sorry you have settled for something much less than the very best. Good luck to all illegals--just go home and fix your own countries. We don't want you here.

Posted by: jaded on July 30, 2008 05:13 PM

I'm not clear why folks are so angry at Julie Myers and DHS for this proposal. It makes sense: it will cost society far less in incarceration costs and people can be reunited with the families in their home countries. Granted, this plan only works if illegal immigrants feel the heat and turn themselves in, but it's a program we ought to make available.

Hi Hot Chile.

Invaders try to exploit the weakness of their target. I was a "goodhearted fool" back in 1986 when I wrote letters to my congressmen supporting the amnesty. I had worked with Mexicans extensively in my manual labor days and generally liked (and still do like) them, although I don't want to live in their culture. The invaders successfully exploited my weakness, and the one-time amnesty turned into the expectation for a long-running entitlement program. The only difference that I see between you (now) and me (in 1986) is that I lacked your animosity toward my fellow countrymen.

Posted by: James on July 31, 2008 07:17 AM

Roy Beck from NumbersUSA has often referred to the "reduction through attrition" concept, which is another term for self-deportation. Whatever we have to do, let's do it. Excessive illegal immigration is overpopulating and destroying America. In just two areas, education and health care, Americans are pouring billions of tax dollars into a system that supports illegal aliens who sneaked into the U.S. Is this what we want in America? I would say emphatically, NO!

Posted by: john on July 31, 2008 09:34 AM

Hi Melena29,

Yes, I understand what you're saying. I've been in the same fight as everyone else here. But I do see a government that's changing its tune and it's my optimistic belief that we've convinced at least some of the powers-that-be--and that includes within the Bush Administration--that our approach to the immigration crisis is the best one for all Americans, including elites. It's even best for Mexicans and third world in general, but that's a discussion I won't repeat here.

We're seeing a sea change now: enforcement, illegal immigrants returning home, and the growing number of think tanks and pundits who work from our point of view.

Now that we've battered down 2 amnesties, we've also gutted the country's strategy at the highest levels. We need to replace a bad strategy with a strategy for the 21st century, which is how President Bush even talked in his last State of the Union, more or less. Along with that, I think the final 18 months or so of the Bush Administration will have a surprisingly excellent legacy down the road as historians see what Bush has accomplished in these past few years. I know I'll get flamed for that here, but I don't care because...

It's not that I'm unaware of what many elites tried to do to this country for their own, selfish reasons. But we are struggling to revive a nation that terribly lost its way and that perpetuated the biggest, mass bubble psychology in world history. Along with that came horrible loans and mass immigration on reckless scales. We're only beginning to unwind the substantial damage and psychology has turned for the worst. Yet if we turn into a nation of "damaged goods" whereby we're all so hurt, impossible to satisfy and downright furious, no matter what our leaders do, then we are actually contributing to the dissolution of our own country. Instead, we need to be constructive and determined at the same time, not angry and nihilistic. Since I believe we're a nation of citizens foremost, we need to believe that elites can be persuaded and are, by nature, included among the people of the country. There is no black-and-white "us" and "them." And I mean that in a literal sense, because for our system to work, elites need to experience failure when they deserve it (and that includes anyone and everyone on Wall Street) while other folks ought to move into the upper ranks. That's how it's supposed to work.

There's already plenty of finger-pointing and anger, and while some of it's deserved and should continue, we should not fall asleep on the "angry switch" because not everything is rotten and bad. This country is great and resilient and I believe this will be an incredible place to live as a result of the reform and improvement efforts we're making today...efforts I'm already seeing in many quarters now, from the Pentagon (they're unfolding a whole new 21st century strategy now) to the White House (see State of the Union, immigration enforcement, new efforts to combine toughness with diplomacy on the global stage) to industry (I noticed that GE began returning to its inventive roots with a $250 million investment in solar power) and elsewhere.

These are examples of a broader change that I believe is taking place. Out of the ashes of our age something better will arise, but only if we make it happen. But we won't get to the promised land through anger alone.

Concerned Citizen
I share you call to reason, calm and resilience. I also agree that the Bush Administration finally after many years of trial & error has arrived at the right strategy which will be recognized years from now. Right now, though it is all 'Bush hate'.

However, I think all this is coming bit late and I sense that folks can feel that in 2009 there will be a dramatic shift in Congress and Presidency and things will shift 108 degrees. That is the big unease - if this was 2006, then I think we would have a couple more years to solidify the gains.

FAIR President Dan Stein Guest Blogs at "The Hill" About E-Verify

"There seems to be near consensus in Washington that the key to controlling illegal immigration is to make it as difficult as possible for illegal aliens to find work here. At least that was the idea when Congress passed employer sanctions in 1986 with the intention of penalizing employers who hire illegal aliens. [. . . ] In recent years the E-Verify system has allowed employers, on a voluntary basis, to electronically verify a prospective worker’s Social Security number (much like a merchant verifies a credit card) so they can avoid hiring illegal aliens in the first place," says FAIR president Dan Stein in a post at the eponymous paper's Congress Blog. "Reauthorization of E-Verify is being delayed by a bunch of amendments in both houses. In the Senate, Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) is blocking reauthorization, demanding the inclusion of an amendment to 'recapture' visas – mostly for foreign workers – going back to 1992."

Amnesty Support Not Translating to Hispanic Support of McCain

"Immigration may be alienating Hispanic voters previously receptive to Sen. John McCain's Republican bid for the U.S. presidency, pollsters said. While earning support of nearly seven in 10 Hispanics during his last Senate race in Arizona, a recent Pew Hispanic Center poll indicates that 23 percent of Latinos would vote for McCain in the presidential race, Politico reported," UPI writes.

So McCain's lost support w/ Hispanics because of immigration....and he's lost support with half the Republican party because of immigration.

Perhaps he should realize that the fence on which he's sitting is electified! He needs to jump off the fence and make a stand that is different from his opponent. Perhaps a "let's enforce our immigration rules - all of them" might get the support of the folks on the right.

Posted by: cubcake on July 29, 2008 11:51 AM

When a vote is conditional on having a immigration entitlement program, it says something about the immigrants.

The last I heard Mexico City had to create special busses for women only. Guess why. I can't figure out why our liberated women in the Democratic party are in such a hurry to put us in the same position.

Let's see if he changes his tune as election day gets closer and realizes the hispanics block is going to vote for Barry Hussian Obama.

A. More congestion on our highways
B. More stress on our natural resources
C. Higher to taxes to provide illegals with free educations, free health care, free food stamps, etc

Hispanics are going to vote for Obama (Mr Amnesty) and McCain just does not see the light.

Does any one wonder why McCain is having trouble raising campaign donations?

McCain is losing because of his Amnesty bill alright and because he is looking like Mr. Rogers. He is being too nice. He needs to hit Obama hard on the issues, he needs to get an issue or two, drive home how he can solve/handle it and stand firm. This wishy washy crap, bumbling about, selling the American people out over amnesty for illegals is going to cost the Republicans this election. Obama is a rock star thanks to the bias media coverage while McCain looks like he is headed for assisted living. Either he gets some nads or he's done. I don't care for the man but I feel of the two he may be the lesser of the evils. This will be the first time I have ever considered voting to keep some out of office instead of to put some in I thought would be a good leader. It's pathetic.

Posted by: usaborn on July 29, 2008 09:36 PM

McCain can't reach beyond the "republican" on his jacket to get to hispanic voters, because it's been engrained in them that only democrats will help them.

If true "hispanic" Americans wanted to see their own lives soar, they would stop allowing their illegal breatheren to suck the life blood out of their heritage by demanding all hispanics step up and "become" Americans and they would not be helping the illegals.

Obama keeps promising them more money, unionization, healthcare, social security...and he's forgetting that illegals don't vote. McCain believes that giving amnesty will somehow ingratiate them to the republicans when that could not be further from the truth.

We're screwed come November, no matter who wins and at this point, I believe we'll see the socialist take the helm.

Posted by: takn on July 30, 2008 12:19 PM

when it comes to the immigration issue, both candidates are soooooooooooooo phony it makes me sick. i won't vote for either one, not going to vote for the lesser of two evils anymore, tired of this crap that's goin on in our once great country!

Posted by: Guy on July 30, 2008 05:08 PM

Hispanics are about 7 or 8% of the voters, so the vote will go 5-2 or 6-2 to Obama. No amount of pandering will help that. And the real battleground States of PA, OH, and MI don't have any real major Hispanic population. So the question is, "why does he keep pandering?"
If he comes out strong for enforcement, a lot of undecided moderates and conservatives will vote for him, and he can't really lose any major amount of Hispanics. He is either completely stupid, or he is owned by jib interests. Of course, that shouldn't surprise anyone.

FAIR's Weekly Legislative Update on Immigration July 28th

Congress let another week pass without any effort to reauthorize E-Verify. With House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) sticking to his target adjournment date of September 26th and Congress also set to recess for most of August and part of September, less than 25 legislative days remain to conduct business. If both houses of Congress do not reauthorize E-Verify before adjourning, the program will expire in November.

On Thursday, Senate staffers reported to FAIR that Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) is blocking the reauthorization of E-Verify in the Senate because he considers it to be a pro-business program that gives businesses a safe harbor. Therefore, he wants to amend any reauthorization of E-Verify with language to "recapture" unused worker and family visas dating back to 1992.

E-Verify Held Hostage Over Visa Dispute

"Senate consideration of a bill to reauthorize the E-Verify program has come to a screeching halt, as Senator Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) is demanding that hundreds of thousands of visas – mostly for foreign workers – be made available to special interests. The E-Verify program, which will expire on Nov. 30 if it is not reauthorized, allows employers to electronically verify workers' Social Security numbers to ensure they are legally entitled to work in the U.S," notes FAIR's latest press release.

"If there is one thing that everyone in Congress seems to agree on, it is that we must make it as difficult as possible for illegal aliens to find employment in the U.S. E-Verify has been proven to be an effective and easy way for employers to determine if the workers they hire are authorized to work here," notes FAIR president Dan Stein.

HI BEE, WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

I'm rolling on the ground laughing at your take, "We can put down roots and help pull the economy of the trash"....In my opinion, you and the rest of the recent lower paid foreign overpopulation are the root cause of the recent subprime mess oversight, excluding the loon banks that accepted your lower wage kind as adequate credit risks to purchase homes they couldn't afford.

But you may retort, it wasn't just overpopulation from documented/undocumented immigrants (aliens?) that caused the banking crisis recession, dollar devaluation and oil price surge....it was legal Americans too.

I still stand by my opinion; when overpopulation fuels gasoline on a housing bubble like it has since the 1990s, even the legal Americans bought in blinded by the demand greed from foreign overpopulation. You're still the root cause of our recent economic collapse.

The Dem/Reps just stood by and licked their real estate chops; dreaming of the profits they'd make, until the credit ran out and now prices are collapsing. I believe more H-1Bs lowering wages in America will clearly further reduce qualified demand from tighter overpopulation banking standards and prices will spiral downward even worse.

After you all have to leave and go home soon as all the jobs dry up, the legal American kids will have a chance to snatch up your old houses for bargains.

Michael Reagan: Time to Crack Down and Deny Funds to Sanctuary Cities

"Three good men are dead thanks largely to San Francisco's outrageous sanctuary-city policy, which forbids city authorities from notifying federal immigration authorities when they arrest illegal aliens for crimes they commit, and it’s time for President Bush to crack down on all the cities in the United States that follow this absurd policy," says columnist Michael Reagan. "Instead, a host of cities across the United States classify themselves as havens for illegal aliens, despite the fact that such policies result in creating safe havens for illegal aliens who are criminals and potential terrorists. They allow criminal aliens to avoid deportation because they prevent local police from reporting them to ICE."

The ironic thing about sanctuary cities is the reason the pro-illegals have for supporting them. They say it's because if we don't have them, illegals will not report crimes. Do they really think any illegal alien is going to approach law officers? Law authorities in the counties the illegals come from are also the criminals, so they are not about to report anything. Therefore, we will continue to have murders such as the Bolognas and Jamail Shaw. Good going, San Francisco and Los Angeles - illegals thank you for supporting their criminal behavior.

Posted by: June on July 30, 2008 09:24 AM

I live in a sanctuary city myself. Today, I heard an illegal mexican female complaining that she'd had her fake birth certificate, fake social security card, which helped her obtain a real driver's license, stolen by another illegal. Now she is homeless! I wonder what has happened to all the US citizens, who have lost their ID information to illegals, who are now living as them. I couldn't believe how angry this female was and how entitled she thought she was to just be able to get her "life" back. She couldn't understand the concept that it wasn't her life, but someone else's that she'd lost, first when she stole the name and then when the illegal documents were stolen. I swear if this is a cultural aspect with them this refusal to deal with any form of accountability, then we really don't need them. Illegals stealing illegal documents from other illegals and whining about the crimes. If that isn't an ultraliberals dream of victimization whatever could it possibly be. Perhaps, an oxymoron?

Immigration Reform Activists Protest in Postville, Iowa

"With chants of 'End the raids!' and 'Si se puede!' _ or 'Yes, we can!' _ hundreds of immigration protesters brought a national debate to this isolated corner of northeastern Iowa. The protests came in response to a May raid at the Agriprocessors Inc. meatpacking plant, the largest enforcement effort in U.S. history," the AP reports.

The AP notes that counter-protesters who favored deporting illegal aliens and enforcing the law were on the scene as well. "One of them was Claire Jamison, who said she'd traveled from Minneapolis to protest the protesters. She wore a hat emblazoned with a U.S. Border Patrol logo and held up a sign reading 'What would Jesus do? Obey the law' as she shouted across the street. 'I'm just so fed up as an American. We have laws. Why can't they obey our laws?' Jamison said. 'I empathize with those people, but they are not victims. They should not have even been here.'"

And those who counter protest the illegals are always the ones called out as in the wrong.

It's true, these illegals are not victims, they knew coming to this country was against the law, and even though they may have been desperate to work, there are so many visas available, there is no excuse for their actions.

Posted by: takn on July 28, 2008 01:58 PM

"Getzel Rubashkin, an Agriprocessors employee and a member of the family that owns it, said it was unfair to blame his family..."

Unfair to blame the the criminal for the crime? Heh. Good luck finding a judge that will sympathize with that argument.

"unspecified competitors and enemies of the plant were behind the enforcement action."

Uh oh. Methinks someones tin hat is starting to show a little bit. A conspiracy by some evil and unknown business competitors? Or, because law enforcement was simply doing their job, investigating a major criminal enterprise that was aiding and abetting, participating in and concealing hundreds of felonies? I vote for number 2.

The criminal employers who create the magnets are the best argument for re-opening Alcatraz. Let them enjoy the nice view of the sanctuary city, along with a lot of years to admire it, from behind bars. I think Newsom and Pelosi would really appreciate the gesture. And the federal dollars it would bring to their economy.

Today lazy open border nuts rant about the jobs Americans won't do, we import 90% of our manufacturing, incorporate uncontrolled overpopulation and wonder why we have a banking crisis, water crisis, dead zones in our port oceans and crime out of control.

There is no doubt that we must stop illegal immigration and automatic citizenship for "anchor babies." Put the pressure on the politicians. Vote for those who are doing all they can to resolve the illegal immigration crisis. Write and call news agencies, TV stations, politicians, and large corporations telling them that you want illegal immigration stopped. VA Jails to Check Immigration Status

"A year after Prince William County launched a crackdown on illegal immigrants, Virginia has implemented a law that requires something similar for every jurisdiction in the state. Jail officials are now required to notify federal authorities of all foreign-born inmates regardless of their immigration status," the Washington Post reports. "'With our new law, these people who are here illegally should be afraid of living anywhere in Virginia right now,' said Del. David B. Albo (R-Fairfax), who helped write the law and chairs the state's crime commission. 'If you're here illegally, it's not any scarier to live in Prince William than in any other county.'"

The standard for a warrantless arrest of a suspect by local law enforcement for alleged violation of immigration law is dictated by the States. United States v. Di Re, 332 U.S. 581, 591 (1948), EVALUATING OPERATION LINEBACKER, 108 Columbia Law Review 1226, 1238, footnote 78 [2008].

In U.S. v. Aispuro-Medina, 256 Fed.Appx. 215, 219 (10th Cir. 2007)(Citing Muehler v. Mena, 544 U.S. 93, 100-01 (2005)), the panel held that police questioning about immigration status did not constitute a separate Fourth Amendment event.

Unfortunately, with Jon Corzine as Governor of New Jersey, and perhaps a Bilderberg, New Jersey State Attorney General Anne Milgram refuses to allow police questioning of a suspect on immigration status unless the arrest is for a serious crime, which tells me New Jersey is a Sanctuary State. Wasn't Jon Corzine from Illinois?

Takn -

I saw in the paper over the weekend that Senor Bush actually signed an Executive Order mandating that anybody working on a federal contract must be verified by the e-verify system.

Now, of course, we have to wait and see how the employers take this information and what they do with the order.

It's insane. Totally insane. Hands off on even criminal illegal aliens who might be in prison--for now, but will get out sooner or later, and continue with the criminality. The truth is, the politicians who allow this are more criminal then the illegal aliens whose immigration status they won't check in prison. The twilight zone state of law continues in the U.S, but at least not in Virginia.

THE NEW OPEN BORDER NUT POLITICS

Reps and Dems have become so close on immigration and overpopulation issues I can't tell the difference between them anymore.

What's a liberal/conservative when it comes to overpopulation? My answer: someone who keeps their mouth shut on the topic in fear of being called a bigot.

Keep up the good work Virginia, you're irritating the open border nuts.

Good going, VA. We should have the whole country doing this, given the overcrowdedness in our jails today. If they weren't supposed to be in this country to begin with, send them packing as soon as possible and if they committed a serious offense like murder, fry 'em!

Iraqi Visa Program Expanded

"The U.S. Embassy on Thursday launched an expanded immigration program that provides 5,000 more visas each year for Iraqis who have put themselves at risk by working for the U.S. government. The new guidelines represent a 10-fold increase in the number of visas and extend the applicable categories beyond an existing program for interpreters to include all Iraqis who have worked for the U.S. government, the military or related contractors and sub-contractors," the AP reports. "The special immigrant visa program applies to all Iraqis who have "worked for or on behalf of the United States government for at least 12 months" since the U.S.-led invasion on March 20, 2003, according to the guidelines."

If Iraq is getting stronger than why would over 5,000 Iraqi's need protection? You might as well let the whole country in!!!

I don't want to sound like a xenophobe, but we need to question why? We know the media is covering up a lot of terrorist cells in America. Why do we want to put ourselves at risk. Look at the student medical visa program let to in England... more bombings and more threats. Who do we call?

Wait a second. We've poured over a trillion dollars into Iraq with the intention of stabilizing it and vastly improve the country's quality of life and now we're talking about shifting resources to Afghanistan because Iraq's obtaining self-government...so why do Iraqis need refugee status? Are these people in imminent danger of ethnic cleansing? No, they're not.

I also don't hold much hope that Iraqis are coming here to assimilate into the country of George Washington where Islam is a tiny minority religion, so why is this even better for the Iraqis themselves?

Our country's immigration policy is not well thought-out.

Congressional Democrats Say Illegal Aliens Convicted Too Fast

"Criminal defense and immigration lawyers yesterday challenged the government's use of expedited trials to convict 306 illegal immigrant workers at a meat processing plant in Iowa in May, arguing that fast-tracked group trials violated defendants' rights," the Washington Post reports. "Homeland Security and Justice Department officials credit the new aggressive tactics with deterring border crossings. Republicans on the Judiciary Committee accused Democrats of caring more about illegal immigrants than the American workers whose jobs they take. 'The more the administration tries to do its job . . . the more they are criticized for enforcing the law,' said Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Tex.)."

THEY HAD AN OPEN BORDER SENATOR ON DOBBS' SHOW YESTERDAY DESCRIBING THIS LITIGATION

She used the excuse that some 70% of the illegal aliens we're not really involved in an identity theft felony, the phony social security card numbers they used we're not valid numbers [she alleged were not stolen a live American]. Albeit, I assume that means the rest were.

Yet the the Senator opposing this open border nut Senator made it clear that the SSN identity theft reason for prosecution was completely valid and checked/verified by the judge.

The two were fighting like cats on dogs last night; but the open border nut Senator came across as a complete loon, grasping at straws.

It's still a crime. Just because the SSN number used on their phony SSN cards were not real numbers it's still a crime. Fraud, forgery of official documents etc?

SO THESE IDIOTIC POLITICIANS JUSTIFY, IDENTITY THEFT, SOCIAL SECURITY FRAUD, AND TAX EVASION.

BECAUSE BASICALLY THAT`S WHAT ILLEGAL ALIENS DO WHEN THEY STEAL JOBS, AND WORK ILLEGALLY.

IF AN AMERICAN CITIZEN DID THAT, THEY`D BE LOCKED IN A SECOND, NO QUESTIONS ASKED. BUT WITH ILLEGAL ALIENS, THE EXCUSES COME SPEWING OUT.

IT`S JUST AMAZING WHAT THESE SELL-OUT POLITICIANS WILL DO FOR POTENTIAL FUTURE CHEAP VOTES.

Posted by: American Me on July 25, 2008 12:25 PM

Their either in the country illegally or their not? There is no gray-area here. There is no defense for being here illegally.
Stronger legislation must be passed making illegal entry into this country and knowingly hiring illegal aliens a felony. It will only take a few Corporate heads serving some prison time to effectively stop the hiring of illegal aliens.
What we have now amounts to nothing more than a slap on the wrist for hiring illegal aliens and the illegal aliens deported simply return with little or no repercussion. Business conglomerates must be laughing their heads off!!

The Democratic open border politicians are loons. They have completed abandoned their constituency. They are useless to working class and blue collar class Americans. They are replacing Americans with a "new people." These democrats can make up all the excuses they want, but over and over again, they will not support the non-neocon Republicans (the only real conservatives) on borders issues. How can any working class or blue collar American possibly vote for the democratic party?? It blows me away. Senator Sessions, a Republican talks more about Americans jobs than any Democrat I've listened to for the last 8 years.

Convicted of what, they`re in the country illegally to begin with. They get arrested and deported, end of story. Illegal aliens have no civil rights, they are not citizens, and don`t belong here in the first place. Do you think if you were caught illegal in Mexico, you`d have civil rights. You`d either be thrown in jail, robbed, raped, or murdered, and never be seen again.

I am going to do every thing in my power to make sure that Mikulski, Biden and Cardin are not relected, nor any of the legislators on O'Malley's council. These people need to be tried for treason. I want all of my tax money back that has been spent on any illegal immigrant for any reason. If you do not belong in my country, I don't want to be responsible for you or your anchor babies! I am so sick of this stuff, I am truly considering moving to a State that is actually doing something for the citizens and removing illegal immigrants. We see so many Virginia tags in PG County if is not funny. Please join Helpsavemaryland. com or any anti illegal immigrant in your area, we have got to stand sholder to sholder to save our country that they are trying to rot from the inside out! Come on, this is a joke. These illegals are everywhere and this is just a ploy to try and show that something is being done about it. THE only thing that will put an end to it is to put in place permanent enforcement using programs like E-verify and SAVE and to prosecute employers that fail to follow the law.

CAN WE UNITE AGAINST THE "INVASION!" of our country?
Seems to me like congress is against the people , more and more! Day by day.
We only have ourselves to blame as this government has been out of control for MANY YEARS NOW!

Posted by: Mephisto on July 24, 2008 07:23 PM

USA Today reported that Italy's Parliament gave final approval to a security package that toughens rules on illegal immigration as a response to street crime there. The law included provisions increasing jail sentences by a third for offenders who are also illegal immigrants and expelling any foreigner who has been sentenced to more than 2 years in prison. Renting an apartment to illegal immigrants is also illegal under the law. One country at a time and soon maybe our own politicians, those crooks, might figure it out.

Constitutional Party candidate Chuck Baldwin said it best. "America's back is breaking from the burden of immigration policies that demand taxpayers pay to educate, encarcerate, medicate and house those who have broken into our country."

What I think needs to happen is what happened on March 13 when the Oklahoma House passed House Joint Resolution 1089 that was sponsored by Rep Charles Key and Sen Randy Brogdon claiming sovereignty under the 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over certain powers by an overwhelming vote of 92-3. There is a resurgence in interest in the Constitution in reaction to widespread usurption of state powers by the federal government. It would be a major victory for freedom if the other 49 states would pass resolutions like Oklahoma's in which it "hereby claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the Constitution of the United States. It might mean that the federal government, since it refuses to administer the current immigration laws, would have little right to dictate what individual states chose to do. What in the world would DC politicians do if every single state in this great nation would stand up to them and say "NO MORE"! What in the world is it going to take for all those deaf ears to hear us and finally understand that it doesn't matter what their agenda is--either they work for US or they are the enemy. We need to get every incumbent out of there--they are beyond worthless.

HAD IT, if only there were just 12 million. I have been working on trying to change immigration policies for 18 years and at that time the federal government said there were 8 or 9 million. I doubt if the figure is even as low as the Bear-Stearns Investment Group report, which stated it was more like 45 to 55 million. Remember they are breeding to take over as much as they can like good Catholics. Why they even have their own patron saint for drug dealers! Aren't they special?

HAWAII DOESN"T NEED SLAVE WORKERS EITHER

You'll never get the open border media to admit it though.

I imagine its going on all over America, as I saw the same horrifying phenomena in Fresno last week too. Hawaii's hotels and restaurants are tanking, mass empty rooms and tables....2008 tourism has gone down the $4 gas drain. My friend was there last week and reported this too me.

In Fresno, the roads were almost empty, the hotels mostly empty and the restaurants had few customers too.

We don't need illegal aliens or any more overpopulation of any kind for that matter either. We're in a horrifying recession and in total denial.

This is more of the same old, same old. We know that no state is immune to the affects of illegals. I would bet even Alaska has illegals.

The point is that it is our government's duty to stop it any way necessary and the first step is to demand that e-verify be mandatory in EVERY state...and to cut off federal funding to any city declaring sanctuary for illegals .

Immigration Reform Activists Demonstrate in Iowa This Saturday

"American citizens and legal immigrants will be in Postville, Iowa, this Sunday, July 27, to demonstrate their support for recent efforts to crackdown on employers who hire illegal aliens. Postville was the site of largest enforcement action to-date by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE) at a meat processing plant that employed hundreds of illegal aliens and was engaging in other criminal activities, including document fraud," FAIR notes in a press release today.

"We will be there on Sunday to show that millions of Americans who work hard and play by the rules applaud efforts to finally enforce our nation's immigration laws," said Susan Tully, national field director of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). FAIR is the nation's largest immigration reform organization, with some 250,000 members nationwide.

The Heat is On for S.F. Sanctuary Policy; Tancredo Demands DOJ Intervene

"The scene repeats itself daily on city streets: a driver gets stuck bumper to bumper, blocking an intersection and preventing another car from turning left. But authorities say that was enough to cause Edwin Ramos to unload an AK-47 assault weapon on a man and his two sons, killing them," the AP reports. "The case has put San Francisco's liberal politics to the test, setting off a debate over its sanctuary law that shields undocumented immigrants from deportation [. . .] 'All San Francisco's sanctuary ordinance has done is bring violence and death to this once-great city,' said Frank Kennedy, who is married to Anthony Bologna's sister."

"The case has garnered national attention, leading U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., and an anti-immigration group called Californians for Population Stabilization to ask the U.S. Department of Justice to take over, alleging San Francisco authorities have mishandled it."

Hell has literally frozen over in America. What we have in San Francisco is basically a foreign hostile (terrorist) nation that is located in the United States. Osama Bin Laden might not be hiding out in the wilds of Pakistan he may be living right out in public in San Francisco. This idiocy of political correctness has been taken to such an extreme that a once American city has declared it legal for foreign terrorists to kill American citizens. Mayor Newsom and the city representatives are enablers of terrorism and should be put on trial for treason.

SF allegates they notified ICE before they let the killer loose; but ICE reports they were notified 30 min after they let him loose [I believe ICE].

Its a can of worms and finger pointing by the open border nut SF politicians.

The surviving relative did a great job on Dobbs' show, showed excellent speaking style and candor [especially considering]. He may likely become another Sherriff Joe for our cause!

Bush will never allow the DOJ to bring their paper knives to a media orchestrated gun fight. No matter how many thousands of 'Mrs. Bologna's' come to pass. Plus, the SF political machine has the home court advantage. And the speaker of the house.

"However, Newsom "still supports the worthwhile aims of denying the federal government" assistance in deporting otherwise law-abiding undocumented residents, he said."

Aiding and abetting from his own lips. By that statement, Ramos was a 'law-abiding illegal alien' (oxymoron alert). At least whenever he wasn't 'otherwise' behind bars or murdering Americans.

Oh well, one down. Ten thousand more every day coming in to take his place.

I live in a sanctuary city and I swear what illegals are able to get away with would put most of us in jail if we behaved the same way. I am for going door to door and dragging them out. I am tired of the violence they bring to our society. I am tired of hearing about how they are victims. I am tired of hearing that whiny spanish language as they play victim when they are caught doing what they have to know is wrongful behavior. I am tired of feeding them in our prisons, educating their kids who are mexican citizens, paying for their healthcare when I can't even afford my own. I have been telling teachers they should picket the mexican consulates and every consulate in this city and demand that they pay for the education of the children of illegals. US taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill. This state isn't providing enough money for education and there is no federal money for education that is going to be increasing so guess where the money comes from--donations and from the salaries of teachers. How much money is wasted in this country on these criminals and how in the world do politicians even have the nerve to ignore the violence is beyond me. Taking money one is not deserving of is violence, too. Bless Tom Tancredo--the only political voice of sanity who never waivers. What a great American hero he is.

WHY DO YOU THINK BIG BUSINESS LOBBY THE SELL-OUTS IN WASHINGTON. TO TRY AND STOP ANY FORM OF ENFORCEMENT, SO THEY CAN CONTINUE TO HIRE CHEAP FOREIGN LABOR, ILLEGAL OR LEGAL, THEN THEY DON`T HAVE TO PAY AMERICANS A DECENT LIVING WAGE.

HAVE ANY OF YOU BLOGGERS VACATIONED AROUND AMERICA LATELY?

My friends and I have noticed vacant hotels, empty restaurants and a tourism business that is tanking worse that I've seen in my life.

Last year I noticed approximately every third car in the summer was from out of state in downtown Seattle adding to tourism economy. This year, its more like approximately 10-15%.

The media isn't covering America's recession properly, they don't want to admit companies aren't hiring this summer, it totally kills their false open border politics' excuses for overpopulating America with foreign slaves.

The media reports a Q1 GDP of +0.6%, which is made up largely of inventory hoarding due to energy costs panic [i.e., hoarding bags of rice]. The "real GDP" [calculated in a sensible manner] for 2008 Q1 is approximately -0.6%.

See the proof [just scroll down to the "Real GDP" chart from our government]:
