E-Verify Debate Turns on Legislators' Views of Work

"The debate over the E-Verify program is less one about statistics, or even policy, than it is about two states of mind. One says nobody should have to prove to the government that they are qualified to work in the United States. The government should have to prove they are not. The other says that people have to be sorted out in order to enforce the law, and both must be examined to separate the legal from the illegal. Those points of view aren’t even mutually exclusive. But neither side gives the other an inch," CQ Politics reports. "As further demonstration that the people arguing about this issue pay virtually no heed to the other side’s arguments, consider the disagreement over how many people would potentially be affected. The Social Security Administration (SSA) says errors exist in up to 4 percent of its files. DHS says that because of improvements it has made to the combined database system, the current E-Verify error rate is actually one-tenth that, 0.4 percent. Some of these improvements include using DHS immigration data instead of SSA records for naturalized citizens, for whom the error rate can be as high as 10 percent."

THE CORPORATE PUPPET POLITICIANS DON`T WANT IT, IT`S THAT SIMPLE!

Isn't funny that you never hear this when they use high speed computers and random audits to collect "progressive" income tax? Where are the progressives on that one? How about child support? Most of my liberal-hippie-faminist friends think it is a swimming idea to garnish men's wages to pay back due child support. However when you take the same computer and check to see if that person is legally entitled to work in the first place suddenly it becomes racist and a technical challenge.

We have the ability to implement E-Verify if we choose to do it. Just tie it to Social Security and tax payments, and I’ll bet E-Verify would be implemented nationwide by nightfall!!

It's waaaaaaaaay past time to talk about this...

It's time for action and any politician who does not see the benefit of verifying the identities of people wishing to work in this country is likely making money in one way or another off human labor exploitation!

Everyone should contact their senators and reps and demand e-verify be mandatory!

Better yet, we should make it so employers can only deduct wages from their state and federal income taxes if the employee who's wages are being deducted was checked with E-Verify and showed valid ID.

Employers Not Often Caught in Illegal Hiring Busts

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are staging dramatic raids across the country that routinely seize hundreds of undocumented workers at their jobs -- and leave their employers free to work another day. The appearance of separate justice that arose during federal authorities' surprise morning raid at Action Rags USA on Houston's east side fits a nationwide pattern," the Houston Chronicle writes. "Undocumented workers often face quick prosecution for so-called ''status crimes" such as being in the country illegally — charges that are easy to prove. Many of those arrested quickly plead guilty and serve sentences averaging as little as a month. But to convict employers, federal prosecutors must show that they knowingly hired undocumented immigrants, a threshold that demands more evidence. 'You have to show that the employer knowingly and willingly hired an illegal,' said Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Austin, a former Justice Department official. 'A lot of these guys carry multiple Social Security cards' -- making it difficult for employers to determine whether they are legally in the U.S."

What we need to do is set up a series of progressive fines for employers who hire illegals. We could do the same to the illegals but that would be like trying to get blood from a turnip.

Start with say $1,000 for each illegal hired. That is not a lot but make it $10,000 the next time they get caught. After that make it $50,000.

Any money collected should go back into the enforcement side of ICE. With high speed computers it would be easy to do spot audits of employers who have already been caught. Once they are on the no-no list then they either have to clean up their act or go out of business.

Posted by: hugo on June 30, 2008 12:26 PM

This is why we need the SAVE Act passed ASAP! Employers need to be put in jail for years to stop the madness!

I live on a U.S. military installation and we have Mexican day laborers working all over the base. It’s a pretty good bet that most, if not all, are illegally in the U.S. Hiring foreigners that don’t speak a word of English is an extra bonus for we military families that have to deal with these Mexicans. Sacrificing security to save a dime; Good job DoD.

ONE TIME AND ONLY ONE TIME if an employer is found to have an ILLEGAL ALIEN problem he should be given a choice. Immediately apply for E-verify, or be subject to immediate arrest along with any other ILLEGALS he's employed and have large fines assessed towards himself and his business!!

Posted by: United Statesian on June 30, 2008 04:08 PM

ANY EMPLOYER WHO DOESN'T KNOW HE/SHE'S GOT ILLEGALS IS LYING THROUGH THEIR TEETH

Let's use a lie detector on 'em, they'll all fail the test.

Posted by: Softwarengineer on June 30, 2008 04:23 PM

Many anti-immigration fanatics are ignorant about the law (among other things but that goes without saying). Employers are only required to complete and retain Form I-9 and view documents. Some of the documents can be forged with sufficient quality to fool the naked eye of an honest employer. It's very difficult to prove that someone violated the law even a dishonest employer who keeps her papers in order.

It's so easy on the internet to say that brown skinned men who work for a living are illegally in the US as Alice does or to claim that any employer who doesn't know he/she's got illegals is lying. In the real world, it's just not that simple.

Posted by: Ralph on June 30, 2008 05:55 PM

Not one more excuse...
Arrest the owners and managers immediately during these raids...
It's time to get tough, kick ass and take names and take our country back!

Posted by: takn on July 1, 2008 03:13 AM

Not prosecuting the employers simply makes hiring illegal workers an absorbable "cost of doing business". Employers say they shouldn't have to determine who is legal and who is not, and they aren't document authentication experts.

Here's a solution. Give the employer safe harbor from prosecution or lawsuits for hiring an illegal if the employer uses E-Verify to verify the credentials presented. If the employer does not use E-Verify, the burden of proof shifts from the government having to prove that the employer knew he hired an illegal to the employer having to show that he did NOT know the employee was illegal (beyond a reasonable doubt, of course).

I believe the vast majority of these employers (especially those found with large numbers of illegal workers) know or strongly suspect they are illegal, but the employers deliberately choose to look the other way, expecting that the chance of being caught is low.

That little word “knowingly” is the problem. Sit back and put your feet up, while I tell you a story.

Once upon a time in the land of Pennsylvania, there was a concrete contractor. The owner, the son of Portuguese immigrants, inherited the business from his papa. From inside his secret lair he ruled with an iron fist and, you guessed it, a blindfold. The blindfold was named “knowingly.” Everyday the good business man (what the hell, let’s call him JP), instructed his assistants to instruct their assistants to delegate the workload to his employees, most of whom couldn’t speak a word of English. The hell you say!

Now it happens that one of the products/services offered by this good and noble man was rubberwall waterproofing spray-on shield for the purpose of waterproofing basements in the “initial stage of construction.” All the literature stressed the importance of applying the product in an open, well ventilated area, as the material and technique involved in this process is both toxic to humans and EXTREMELY FLAMMABLE!

So it was that each day dozens of these employees got into trucks, and traveled the tri-state area in order to do JP’s bidding. One fine day in the summer of 2006 three of these employees traveled to the land of New York to apply the rubberwall waterproofing shield to a small pool inside the finished basement of a rich man’s home. It was a completely enclosed environment, trapping the flammable fumes in the enclosed area. As the employees were packing up after the job was finished, something went terribly wrong. Somehow a spark was created as they were putting their tools away and KABOOM!

One of the men was literally burned to a crisp and died instantly. He was unrecognizable, so identification was made through the process of elimination. One escaped with serious burns over his arms, hands, face, and torso, but did eventually recover most of his physical function, (his memory I’m told will be faulty from this point on). The third however, spent many months in a hyperbaric (spelling?) chamber in a hospital in New York, thankfully in a deep coma, until his death several months later.

An investigation ensued. OSHA stepped in. And while JP’s assistants, and his assistants assistant’s scurried about frantically making sure all “documentation” was in order for the ill-fated employees, JP huddled in his little lair knowingly stroking “knowingly.”

End result? No harm, no foul. And while the good citizen’s of the land of New York will foot the bill for the millions of dollars (low guesstimate) to pay for the emergency services, police, fire, rescue, as well as the hospital costs for the unfortunate fellow who lingered for several months in a coma, JP was slapped with a $5,000.00 fine (I’m not really sure what the excuse was for this travesty).

Of all the things that bother me about this, what irks me the most (aside from the tragic loss of life), is that our government is complicate in these crimes. Americans have lost not only their livelihoods, but the standards of safety in the workplace that were fought so hard for. And now I hear that the interlopers whose illegal presence is this country has caused this erosion of our workplace safety standards as well as our quality of life now want to join hands with us and fight side by side for “our rights.”

I, however, have a different fight in mind. However lofty and improbable it may seem, it is a good one. Here it is:

Since our government no longer represents the people for whom it is intended to serve, I believe it is time to overthrow it. Whether we accomplish this be voting out all incumbents with an amnesty agenda, or by electing a third party candidate for president, it simply must be done.

Thank you for your time.

If you have in illegal worker; you get fined. It is your fault for not checking him out. Mr. Employer, you are not a victim. Everybody you hire, whatever the race, must produce a birth certificate or a signed and stamped permission-to-work certificate signed and stamped; then the employer hires and sends a copy of the permisison to work with a picture to ICE for final verificatoin. Fingerprints in a smart card make all of this a lot easier. Hong Kong has this down pat.

The bogus argument that illegal aliens carry multiple Soc.Sec cards and can't be identified by the illegal employers is no longer valid because of the E-verify program. Any employer using the program knows within one-minute whether the person is legal or not.

Ralph, Ralph, Ralph. Come on now, do you think the American people are stupid now? USA1's comment is a good example of the ignorance that I see more and more among anti-immigration fanatics. And, yes, I do think people are stupid if they think another human being is a criminal just because they have brown skin and speak a language other than English.

But the issue is not about the ignorance that is so prevalent among anti-immigration fanatics. The issue that this article addresses is that it is difficult to get evidence that proves beyond a resonable doubt that employers are in violation of the law as I very eloquently explained in a prior comment.

McCain, Obama Revisit Immigration Debate

"Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain courted Hispanic support on Saturday, and Obama accused his White House rival of backing away from comprehensive U.S. immigration reform under pressure from his party. In separate appearances before a group of Latino public officials, the two presidential contenders portrayed themselves as dedicated champions for Hispanics -- a fast-growing and critical swing voting bloc in November's election," Reuters reports. "Obama took aim at McCain's approach to comprehensive immigration reform and his change of emphasis on legislation to offer a pathway to citizenship for the country's 12 million illegal immigrants. McCain, an Arizona senator, broke with his party and worked for the plan, which ultimately failed in Congress amid heavy Republican opposition."

What amazes me the most is that both of these idiots running for office seem to be forgetting why Immigration reform has failed the last two time congress tried to pass their amnesty for illegal aliens. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE do not and will not allow illegal aliens to be given amnesty and expect our immigration laws enforced.

We're sicked and tired of having illegal aliens shoved down our throat by the government and the MSM. Illegal aliens have never contributed more than they have taken from the American tax paying citizen and were fed up and expect our government to do something about it instead of giving in to the illegal alien special interest groups.

I think either candidate could easily win the election by a landslide if they just came out and said they would only support enforcement only where illegal immigration is concerned.

Instead we get two idiots running for office who will do anything and everything to win over people who have no legal right to be in our country and totally dismiss AMERICAN CITIZENS!!!!.

PANDERING AT IT`S FINEST!

There is no huge hispanic voting block, that`s the left wing MSM, and the political pundits rhetoric... A small percentage vote, and the illegal aliens can`t, that`s why the Demo-rats want amnesty, for future cheap votes... So why McAmnesty and Obamnesty and other politicians pander to a small percent of voters, while possibly alienating 100 million American voters, is pretty stupid... But then again, they`re politicians.

OBAMA OR MCCAIN:

WHO CAN GIVE AMNESTY THE FASTEST!

Posted by: Independent Voter on June 30, 2008 12:55 PM

The article gives the reason why both of these chumps are courting the “Hispanic” vote; [Hispanics are the fastest growing minority group in the United States and account for about 9 percent of the national electorate. They could be a critical swing voting bloc in November battleground states like Florida and in the U.S. Southwest.]

The Hispanic population is growing at unheard of speeds precisely because of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION!! Out of the 20-30 million ILLEGALS here in the U.S., I’d bet 75% to 90% or of Hispanic descent. The problem is as ‘American Me’ stated that the ILLEGALS can’t vote or shouldn’t vote. Legal Hispanics as a group don’t vote in large numbers as well and that leads one to wonder about this gigantic voting bloc. The potential is there but it hasn’t emerged, partly because the American People aren’t giving away “free citizenship”!!

I really feel for those law-abiding Hispanics who are always lumped in with the desires of the ethno-centric groups when in fact they are fighting against ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION as hard as the next guy. When politicians assume that all Hispanics are of one monolithic mind and so they talk to them in “Amnesty Code Speak”. I’ll just tell my Hispanic friends (apologies to those who oppose the term Hispanic) in the battle; a vote for a 3rd party candidate is not a wasted vote. It’s a vote in the affirmative and against “Dumb and Dumber”.

Posted by: Wheatfieldflower on July 1, 2008 10:27 AM

Brian and Takn are both right on the monty and I agree with Brian and I have said it before many, many times. If either candidate (or a third party candidate) comes out against illegal immigration I think it will be a landslide. There are way too many legal voters out there who don't wan either frontrunning candidate.

Like Obama says in his campaign - it is time for a change . . . but not either of the frontrunners.

Posted by: Sick 'n Tired on July 1, 2008 10:47 AM

"The federal government is investigating whether San Francisco 'has been systematically circumventing U.S. immigration law' by paying to fly young illegal immigrants out of the country instead of turning them over for deportation, according to the San Francisco Chronicle," USA Today reports. "'City officials say they are trying to balance their obligations under federal and state law with local court orders and San Francisco's policies aimed at protecting the rights of the young immigrants, who they say are often victims of exploitation,' the paper says. 'Federal authorities counter that drug kingpins are indeed exploiting the immigrants, but that the city's stance allows them to get away with 'gaming the system.'"

Utah House Race Shows Potency of Immigration Issue

"Tuesday’s primary defeat of six term Utah Congressman Chris Cannon at the hands of political neophyte Jason Chaffetz was, without a doubt, the greatest electoral victory of the immigration control movement. The election was about one -- and only one -- issue: Chris Cannon’s long support of amnesty for illegal aliens. Before Tuesday, there was not one contest where supporters of border security could say that their issue won the election. This is not to say that the immigration control has not been popular with the American people. Polls have consistently shown across the board support for enforcement and opposition to amnesty," notes Marcus Epstein. "Were it not for immigration, Cannon would not have had to worry about a primary challenger. Some may question why we should go after an erstwhile outstanding conservative just for his deviation on one issue. It is precisely because conservative activists will not let otherwise trustworthy politicians waiver on issues like guns, taxes, and abortion that they have been able to make them winning issues."

ONE PRO-ILLEGAL ALIEN TRAITOR DOWN, MOST OF CONGRESS TO GO!

THANK YOU FAIRUS.ORG FOR THIS UPBEAT STORY AGAIN

We need encouragement in these turmultuous times. The Independent populists or most of America's voters have not been served well by our present two party system, they ignore us or con us to go the wrong direction. It seems America has woke up and smells the coffee lately.

Another good example of our politicians forsaking the populist's desires is the $0.3B federal bail out of home mortgages, as the Senate voted it in about 90% Yea, while I can't find hardly anyone that agrees with bailing out crooked banks and greedy buyers; with money from the honest Middle Class that mostly live within their means.

It simply punishes the good and gives to the bad. A significant portion of the open border Democrats [Republicans too] would call it "good policy" anyway, as its just like they would support amnesty and blatantly defy the majority of American voters the same way too.

Well, duh! This "deviation" (meaning not being aligned correctly with the citizens of this country and their clear desire) merely causes so many, many sorrows and burdens for the people. This mere "deviation" destroys our schools (diverting much needed funds, time, and attention from our own learning-challenged of ALL races), emergency rooms, neighborhoods (due to increased crime rate and drunken driving incidents), and the natural full recycling of dollars earned into THIS economy!

As a teacher, I tell my students that if two people are walking together and just one of them "deviates" or angles even very slightly from the footsteps of the other, eventually the two are not only NOT walking together but are on opposite ends completely.

The deviation on this issue took this politician far from the people who needed for him to represent THEM. This "deviation" cost him his job. Good riddance.

Mesa, AZ. Sweep Results in Illegal Alien Arrests

"A sheriff's crackdown on immigration and other criminal violators in Mesa produced 28 arrests by Thursday night and inspired a protest by 80 people who accused him of racial profiling. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who launched three similar sweeps in Phoenix and neighboring Guadalupe during the spring, said the 100 deputies and posse volunteers he sent to Mesa were focused on confronting a wide range of criminal violations, not just infractions of immigration law," the AP reports. "Known for pushing the bounds on local immigration efforts, Arpaio had 160 of his patrol and jail officers trained in federal immigration law, opened a hotline to report immigration violations and arrested 1,000 illegal immigrants under a state human smuggling law. Arpaio also is noted for his tough jail policies, making inmates wear pink underwear and take part in old-style chain gangs in striped uniforms and serving them green bologna sandwiches."

ICE Attorney Arrested on Bribery Charges

"An attorney for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and his wife were arrested on suspicion of accepting thousands of dollars from both legal and illegal immigrants in exchange for immigration benefits, authorities said. ICE Assistant Chief Counsel Constantine Peter Kallas, 38, and wife Maria Kallas, 39, both of Alta Loma, were arrested Thursday at the San Manuel Indian Bingo and Casino, where authorities believed they were accepting such a bribe, U.S. Attorney spokesman Thom Mrozek said in a statement," the Washington Post reports. "A search warrant affidavit said the couple, using a pair of companies they had set up, filed false employment petitions with federal authorities for 45 illegal immigrants and two legal permanent residents."

FAIRUS.ORG BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH ON THIS BREAKING NEWS

I just saw it on Drudge Report too.

Its horrifying the corruption and greed sweeping our country. In my whole life I've never seen greed corruption this bad in America, its a California wildfire "out of control".

We need another McCarty Witch Hunt Trial and this time the "Real Communist Witches" are the open border amnesty anarchists.

A sweep of our whole nation could effectively get organised crime in hiding again at least, this blatant sanctuary city flaunting by these hardened criminals/politicians/CEOs and now even ICE, is simply beyond belief.

I'm a Christian and encourage other Christians on this board to pray for our country to become law abiding again.

You know a lot of what's happening today is a repeat of something that happened yesterday. It's the same old story with different characters. I could literally post some of the same comments I've posted earlier on these new stories.

The fact is that greed and power (access to money, i.e. greed) is the constant factor. We're being sold out at every level for a quick buck. These folks will not even consider their own children's futures. So don't think that they care one wit about us.

This couple and all the other Open Border folks are in it for the money and think to themselves, "To hell with the rest of those jackasses. As long as I get mine!!"

Posted by: United Statesian on June 27, 2008 09:49 PM

This just about fits my definition of treason. Let's get the blindfolds out, offer then a cigarette and then put them out of their misery. I am sick of government employees using the public's trust in this matter. I am sick of the cronyism that goes on in politics, where people have to know some of these people have no morals, values or scruples. I cannot believe this is the very first time these two have stepped over the line in such a flagrant manner. People usually build up to this level of corruption. I hope they never get to see the light of day. I hope all the people they helped get deported after their own jail time. Of course they will all hollar the "victim stance" and US taxpayer dollars will fund the attorneys they will all need when they declare themselves not guilty. I am so very tired of the excuses they come up with. Obama is working hard to reward international criminals, and I wonder what he thinks about how these have been rewarded. I can just see him clapping his hands and knocking knuckles with his wife. Maybe she will say again that for yet a second time she is proud of America. The hell with US citizens it seems. We are just wallets to these idiots. What does it take for politicians to listen to what Americans want?

Phoenix Police Union Says Home Invasion Suspect is Active Mexican Military

"A top member of a Phoenix police union is standing by reports that at least one of the men involved in a Monday morning home invasion and homicide was an active member in the Mexican Army," KFYI-Phoenix reports. "'Even if you put aside the Mexican military, you have illegals in the country...they're protected with tactical gear using tactical strategies in police uniforms willing to ambush police officers. I think that's bad enough,' said Mark Spencer, President of the Phoenix Police Enforcement Association. While on the J.D. Hayworth show Tuesday, Mark Spencer announced that the suspects were hired by drug cartels to perform home invasions and murders."

Is this guy a member of the same corrupt, Mexican military that Bush wants to help with financial aid? If the situation wasn't so bad, it would be funny. The madness never ends!

Posted by: Rick S on June 26, 2008 05:46 PM

Since the advent of the Bush Administration, home invasion robberies by some of Mexico's "hard working folk with family values" has increased exponentially.

Posted by: Bobby on June 26, 2008 05:52 PM

Look--as I have said before--there is so very much corruption in Mexico that the few honest and sincere individuals are "drowned out" completely by those above and below them in position who are crooked! Mexico can NOT be helped or reformed. This has deep, deep roots in the Spanish conquest, how the people were dealt with afterwards, and the systems that became ingrained. Add to this the fact that these individuals have no real inner voice condemning their actions (the Catholic church in Mexico is NOT what the Catholic church is here), and you have a situation that will never be fixed. There is virtually no one in their military, police, or other law enforcement or order enforcement agencies who can not be swayed into doing the wrong thing for the right price.

Can you imagine being in a country where you must fear the police as much, possibly more, than those committing crimes against you? I well remember a policeman removing our license plates while we were in a grocery store and refusing to give them back until the missionary I worked with paid what they call "the bite". When we crossed the border, they did not even bother to look in our suitcases as we entered but held them until we paid them to get back what was rightfully ours. The mailmen routinely opened our mail and took out money, gum, etc., before it arrived at the mission base. Virtually anyone and everyone in any position of authority or power is suspect and a potential enemy or problem. They simply shrug when you express horror or annoyance about this and say "it is just this way". No one cares enough to suffer to make it better.

None of this should be surprising. Sadly, you can trust NONE of these in uniform or in authority. You must constantly be vigilant and fully expecting betrayal and corruption. This is one of the multitude of reasons why we don't need this HUGE mass of them coming here and colonizing for Mexico--Mexico is a PROBLEM to herself, her people, and those around her.

One of her poets said, "Poor Mexico--so far from God and so close to the United States!" Pay attention to the first part of that statement and remember it.

Illegals are doing the home invasions and murders that Americans won't do.

Posted by: MiddleClassWhippingPost on June 26, 2008 08:31 PM

Our Constitution states that the federal government is to protect us against invasion by a foreign nation. It doesn't matter if these are rogue military sociopaths from mexico--it is a foreign invasion and needs to be treated as such. I wonder how Janet is working to spin this one. Her part in endangering the lives of US citizens by allowing illegals to remain in the state she is supposedly governing is just one more reason I wouldn't trust any democrat as far as I could throw them. They seem totally incapable seeing problems regarding such actions and get all sobbed up on the "ain't it awful stories". Ah yes, if these people are caught and tried, they will end up being victims and it will be another case where they will hollar that their civil rights were violated and they are on trial because of racial prejudice or profiling. We need to find a way to totally detach from mexico. Give them back all their people and let them implode. They are working so hard to do just that so let's help the process along and stop stringing it out by giving them money to aid their corruption. It would help if Americans would boycott mexican products, stop doing drugs and continue to report all illegal activity to law enforcement agencies. We need to ensure this never is allowed to happen again. It is terrorism, pure and simple.

Posted by: jaded on June 26, 2008 09:56 PM

TIP OF THE ICEBERG?

How many Mexican Mafia controlled police and army exist and how many have infiltrated America with guns?

Lord only knows the size of the invasion and our open borders media/politicians give Mexico $1.6B to fight drugs? One wonders if most of this absurd American aid money ended up in the Mexican Mafia's bank.

Video: FAIR President Dan Stein on O'Reilly

In this video from 2004, Federation for American Immigration Reform president Dan Stein debates the border fence and other measures to stop illegal immigration.

Comments

Great job by Dan! While Dan was tough and forthright, Weiner came across as evasive and arrogant. Is Weiner the new face and attitude of the Democrat Party?

Let's see...Congressman Weiner favors driver's licenses for illegal aliens and no fence at all, then calls those who favor the process of counting the number of immigrants vis-a-vis some kind of process and rule of law "the anti-immigrant wing of the Republican party." LOL As a Democrat, I find this offensive, and I know from many conversations with rank-and-file Democrats that Weiner's out of touch with his own party and with the American people.

Posted by: Concerned Citizen on June 26, 2008 04:02 PM

I second "Concerned Citizen". Here's another Democrat who won't be voting for either major candidate because of their stances on amnesty and expansion of "guest worker" programs. If they were willing to do anything about the border or to support enforcement, they'd already be doing it in the Senate, just to prove it. Too bad Dubya "got religion" late--even if it is just the pretense of it.

Posted by: Ali on June 26, 2008 04:10 PM

I live in Anthony Wieners district. He goes to my gym at New York Sports club in Forest Hills. He is the most arrogant and when you see him he exudes the slimy politican syndrom!!! He supports open borders, AMNESTY to illegal aliens and drivers licenses to illegal aliens.

MAKE SURE YOU DON'T LET HIM BECOME MAYOR OF NEW YORK CITY

Posted by: Jeffrey on June 26, 2008 04:40 PM

Dan, how we appreciate your effectiveness in clearly articulating our stance! Time after time you expose the stupidity and duplicity in these pro-illegal spokesmen.

Thank you! You are our HERO!

Posted by: j on June 26, 2008 05:41 PM

I cannot, speaking for myself, stomach O'Reilly. He is nothing but an open borders phony which you will realize if you listen to him closely and investigate things he has said in the passed. He, like Hannity, Limbaugh, Medved, and other so called "conservative" idiots on the radio, are largely useless where the illegal immigration struggle is concerned, and probably this holds for their ardent listeners as well. It took me some time to realize this.

Posted by: Bobby on June 26, 2008 05:56 PM

Bobby--you are absolutely correct about these supposedly "conservative" talk show hosts! I have decided that they are being used just to serve as a "venting" arena for us, allowing to hang on desperately to some pathetic hope that someone, somewhere cares how we feel while they secretly fully support what the elites of the Republican party are doing.

They exist to let us feel we are "being heard" and nothing else for the most part. Just look at the change in Lou Dobbs! It is as if they get night time visits from some gang of Mafia-type thugs dressed in black who threaten their families, their lifestyle, or something and force them to begin to change their stance on illegal immigration.

That sums up Dan Stein.

Also, I was a democrat for 42 years. I am now an independent. Neither party is representing American citizens anymore. I'm looking in another direction for a better candidate and so far Chuck Baldwin seems to be the best choice out there. Check him out !

Today's Media Fallacy of Hasty Generalization: Johns Hopkins' Illegal Alien Doctor

One of the more common fallacies in media reporting about immigration is the hasty generalization. Media reports focus on a valedictorian or other successful immigrant, legal or not, as part of an attempt to argue that immigration is beneficial. As FAIR noted in our "How to Win the Immigration Debate" handbook, the argument is usually put in the form of "Albert Einstein and John Lennon were good for our society. Albert Einstein and John Lennon were immigrants. Immigrants are good for our society." Assuming that all illegal immigrants are just as likely to succeed as the Johns Hopkins' doctor is as wrong as assuming that every illegal alien who comes here is going to commit other crimes besides illegal entry (although many do, in fact, do so.)

From ABCNews' story on Dr. Quinones-Hinojosa: "Desperate for money, and with his sights set on a brighter future, he scaled a barbed border fence across from Calexico, Calif . . . Derided by his fellow workers as a dreamer, Quińones-Hinojosa enrolled himself in community college to learn English. Before long, he found a professor to mentor him. This professor encouraged Quińones-Hinojosa to seek a scholarship to attend the University of California, Berkeley."

"Quinones-Hinojosa's personal story of climbing over the border fence to gain access into the United States is just a microcosm of the immigration debate still raging in Washington. [. . .] After living on U.S. soil for more than half of his life, Quinones-Hinojosa believes that a border fence is not the solution to illegal immigration."(emphasis added)

But his success does not excuse his behavior...

And without bending the law or giving in, as this country has done at least 7 times w/ various amnesties, he would still be illegal today...

Building a fence may not be the answer, but it will certainly slow or stop the flow enough for us to get a handle on the up to 30 million we have here now !!!

THE MEDIA OPEN BORDER CON GAME WILL RATIONALIZE CHOPPED LIVER TASTES GOOD IF IT THOUGHT IT WOULD BENEFIT THEM

Mmmmmm....have some delicious chopped liver, look we have two illegal aliens gobbling it down and look, they want seconds.

You can take any ambiguous issue and twist it 180 degrees in any ambiguous way to make anything look palatable.

A strong Democrat told me, look at Mikhail Sergeyevich Gorbachev; he took over the Communist Party then ended the Cold War anyway. He then went on to say, Obama may not tell us the amnesty issues the way we'd agree, but he may do what is right anyway. You just have to cross your fingers.

Posted by: Softwarengineer on June 26, 2008 01:19 PM

Question: How many Americans are denied these kinds of opportunities because grant and scholarship monies are sucked up by immigrants/foreigners who entered this country either illegally or under false pretenses? I bet our own people would do equally well, if not better if given the same opportunities. Unfortunately, we do not warrant the same hand-outs and legs-up that the poor, down-trodden, helpless, disadvantaged foreigners do. Wait - I just realized - we are poor, down-trodden, helpless, and disadvantaged. Can we have some of this good stuff now?

It works both ways, but you usually see it the other way around. On anti-Hispanic websites you see every day (EVERY DAY!!!) a story about a Hispanic immigrant who commited a crime. Forum participants and commentators then proceed to suggest that therefor all Hispanic immigrants are bad.

It's this dishonesty that prevents a productive discussion of the issues.

Posted by: American Me on June 26, 2008 03:56 PM

Ralph,

Never, and I mean never on this or any other site of this kind has the issue been anti-Hispanic. The issue is now, always has been, and always will be about illegal immigration. What you spew here is nonsense. WE DO NOT TARGET HISPANICS, WE TARGET ILLEGAL ALIENS. If Hispanics find themselves the primary target of immigration enforcement it is because the majority of illegal immigrants in this country are of Hispanic descent. The actions of these illegal Hispanics wreak havoc on Americans of Hispanic descent. They should be ashamed of themselves.

It is the dishonesty of the open borders/amnesty crowd that makes this a racial issue and prevents productive discussion.

Posted by: melena29 on June 27, 2008 10:58 AM

FYI: Hispanic is not race.

One illegal alien becomes a doctor, if he`s still illegal, shouldn`t he be deported. Of course the left wing mainstream media will focus on this, instead of the thousands of illegal alien murderers, rapists and gang bangers, preying on innocent Americans everyday. Where`s the stories on that!

(continuous drunk driving, document fraud, welfare and tax fraud, displaying Mexican flags on their porches, refusing to learn english, etc. etc. You know Ralph, there is no particular virtue in being different, just to have your way. It's like the liberals constantly changing the meanings of words like, undocumented worker, undocumented immigrant, etc. etc.

There certainly are people who DO NOT like Hispanic people, and it's true that some Hispanic people have done things to offend others, but that doesn't justify making generalizations about the entire population of Hispanic people based on the actions of a few.

Court Rejects Challenge to LA Special Order 40

"A California judge blocked a lawsuit that sought to enlist Los Angeles police officers in weeding out illegal immigrants. Superior Court Judge Rolf M. "Under a 1979 order formally known as Special Order 40, LAPD officers do not ask about immigration status while interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects, and do not arrest people based on immigration status."

E. DID YOU GET TO VOTE FOR MEXICAN TRUCKS ON OUR HIGHWAYS AND FEWER JOBS FOR AMERICAN TRUCKERS?
F. DID YOU GET TO VOTE FOR HIGHER TAXES SO THAT ILLEGAL ALIENS CAN GET FREE FOOD STAMPS AND HOUSING ASSISTANCE?
G. DID YOU GET TO VOTE FOR NAFTA OR CAFTA?

Posted by: Rick S on June 26, 2008 01:41 PM

Under what law is this judge basing his decision on? He is merely relying on State v. Federal law. Since Federal law takes precedence over state law, his decision should be heard in a Federal Appellate Court.
Under, Title 8 Section 1325 of the U.S. Code,
" Improper Entry by Alien," any citizen of any country other than the United States who:
1.) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers; or
2.) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers; or
3.) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact;
has committed a Federal crime!!

R.I. Gov. Criticizes Providence Sanctuary City Policy in Wake of Rape Case

"Gov. Don Carcieri pointed a finger Tuesday at Providence Mayor David Cicilline, saying the city's lax attitude toward illegal immigrants is partly to blame for the alleged rape of a woman by an illegal immigrant. The governor told WPRO-AM that city police had an opportunity to help federal officials deport Marco Riz when he was arrested twice last year while under a federal deportation order. Riz was charged earlier this month with allegedly carjacking a woman in a Warwick parking lot, then driving her to a Providence park and raping her," the Boston Globe reports. "Carcieri has widely criticized Cicilline's administration for refusing to require city police to identify illegal immigrants for possible deportation. City officials have said local law enforcement should not be responsible for enforcing federal immigration laws."

OPEN BORDER CON GAMES

Its been going on for years with these creeps, they clearly ignore American immigration law enforcement as OK, but refuse to accept the horrifying consequences of their blatant inaction.

Posted by: Softwarengineer on June 26, 2008 01:05 PM

We should apply Old Testament law to this situation:

If a man had an ox and DID NOT KNOW that the ox had a tendency to gore people and it gored someone, a fine (blood money) had to be paid and, if I remember correctly, the ox was put to death by stoning. However, if the man KNEW the ox had the habit of goring and failed to contain it so that it got out and gored someone to death, BOTH the ox and the owner were killed (stoned) as guilty equally of murder.

Therefore, based on Biblical principle, these who shelter and do not deal appropriately with these illegals who are known to have committed crimes are considered to be AT FAULT and EVEN PARTICIPATING in these crimes by failure to contain the known evil.

It all boils down to the "love of money" which is the "root of ALL evil"--in effect, they allowed (through inaction) the rape of this woman for the profit that a few companies make from cheap labor (love of money). And this is what it is really all about--this illegal immigration issue--the greed of a few violating the rights of the many for a fast buck. Revolting.

Now, where's that pile of stones?

Winners and Losers In Our Farm Labor (non) Policy

"So allow me to ask the question! If ALL our immigration laws suddenly were strictly enforced and the pool of cheap illegal labor vanished on the spot, would our food costs go up? Maybe so, but if we imported a lot more food from poor nations, it would likely still be cheap. That’s market forces -- something Mr. Carnes [of the Texas Vegetable Association] doesn’t understand," says Lynn Wooley in his Human Events column. "Illegal immigration is an under-the-table government subsidy that suppresses wages and redistributes wealth. That’s not a free market approach any more than the Farm Bill is. Most Americans would gladly pay higher prices for veggies than to deal with the consequences that Mr. Carnes never mentions."

PER CAPITA INCOME DECREASES IN AMERICA

The truth shines out anyway in 2008, documenting worldwide per capita income food impacts globally causing a systematic financial risk. See the proof:

http://www.weforum.org/pdf/globalrisk/report2008.pdf

More slave labor and especially more population drives down per capita wages and uses far more short supply energy to feed the slave workers and their chain/anchor immigrations. What savings?

Posted by: Softwarengineer on June 26, 2008 12:48 PM

Market forces can be manipulated. For examples, you can make a law that prohibits millions of able workers from participating in the economy thereby raising wages for the protected class. This is what our immigration laws do.

It's not a market force. It's market manipulation.

Car Wash Company Taken to the Cleaners Over Illegal Hiring

"A Horsham company pleaded guilty in federal court Tuesday to charges that it hired illegal immigrants and provided them with false identities. Car Care, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mace Security International, based in Horsham, hired the illegal immigrants to work at car washes the company owned, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office," the Buck County Courier Times writes. "The government said that Car Care intentionally refrained from filing termination papers when illegal workers quit so that the names of former employees could be given to new illegal workers in order to keep the scheme going. [. . . ] The government said Gibson and four other managers of area car washes owned by Car Care provided each illegal worker with a stolen identity, including a Social Security number, of a former employee."

So...this is why the carwash near me who ALWAYS hired illegals has suddenly changed to mostly young-looking African-Americans???

They have been conspicuous in hiring these "perfectly legal Hispanic workers" who don't speak a WORD of English as adults and teens. This decision coming down the pike (we are in Dallas) must have influenced them greatly.

GLAD TO SEE IT!

Great news for the people and legitimate business operators everywhere. Hope the feds will go as far up the criminal food chain as possible. Confiscate their ill-gotten gains, then lock 'em up and toss the key. I wonder if this is what motivated the corporation to do their part, throwing the CEO under the bus, with NO golden parachute.

Wanna bet their car wash operations in TX and FL are equally suspect?

WHAT IS THE PENALTY IMPOSED ON THE GUILTY COMPANY?

A slap on the hand and paltry fine? Or 10 years in prison?

Posted by: Softwarengineer on June 26, 2008 01:09 PM

The owners of the car care company should serve substantial prison time as well as pay civil fines. They should never again be allowed a business license anywhere in the United States.

I am glad to see these jobs filled by Americans. Let's send this to Mr. Bush & Villariagosa. Both insist that these are jobs Americans won't do. If more employers were charged, more illegals would leave, and you better believe young African- Americans, as well as Whites will gladly take these jobs. Everyone is not college bound, there are many unskilled Americans that need and will work, especially with our current economic situation, and so many Americans unemployed.

Law Firm Audited For Allegedly Helping Firms Not Hire Americans

"The nation's largest immigration law firm is under federal scrutiny over whether it helped major U.S. corporations disqualify American job applicants and give thousands of high-paying positions to immigrants. The unprecedented Labor Department inquiry centers on Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy — a New York firm at the forefront of a political effort to ease hiring of skilled foreign workers. The Labor Department is auditing all pending applications for legal immigrant workers the firm has filed on behalf of its corporate clients," the AP reports. "The Labor Department said that Fragomen may have improperly advised clients to contact a Fragomen attorney before hiring "apparently qualified" U.S. workers. The agency said lawyers can advise employers on how to follow the law in hiring immigrants but can't dissuade them from deciding a U.S. worker is qualified."

"This is a very interesting case, because it goes to the heart of the INA statutory prohibition on admission of immigrants who would have an “adverse effect” on US worker wages and working conditions. The law firm cannot advise the employer not to hire the US applicant, because neither the employer nor their counsel may have the “intent” to not hire a qualified US worker," notes IRLI (Immigration Reform Law Institute) counsel Mike Hethmon.

This is one of the sickest examples I can think of where lawyers are concerned. I mean, it gives new meaning to the old view that the "law is a noble profession." Yeah, sure. Where are all the lawyers working for free to defeat special order forty? You would think creating a decent society would be a "noble"goal for them. Not interested,I guess.

I suppose I should write better late than never, but this one example of enforcement does nothing to make me believe that the Labor Department is serious about enforcing foreign worker visa laws. I think as a result of this probe that any foreign worker in this country should have his visa revoked and they should be deported back to their home country pending an investigation. If these allegations are found to be true, all visa's for foreign workers should be revoked and the H1 visa program scrapped.

For Brian H.:

Do you realize that if the H1 visa program is scrapped, then McDonald, KFC, Pepsi, Coke who are making billions in countries like India, China, etc. who send majority of H1 workers, will be asked to wind up their businesses there? H1 visa is part of WTO agreement. Green card is US govt. issue. It is simple business understanding. You allow me to sell my stuff, I will allow you to sell yours.

Posted by: independent on June 26, 2008 08:18 PM

Sridhar, who are you to tell us how to regulate our affairs here in America? You get on this blog and criticize us for our political activism, all the while conveniently ignoring the *Immigration Voice* group made up of H1B people who have hired DC lobbyists to get our Congress to approve more greencards for them and their families. And you have the nerve to call us hypocrites?

There’s no guarantee of a greencard in American law, so if you don’t like paying taxes, and you think life here is so unfair, then why don’t you do everyone a favor and just leave? You and your ilk obviously have got no respect for our right to representative government here in our nation, where we the citizens pay the vast majority of the taxes.

America is in a sorry state due in large part to immigration. We’ve got 25-30 million illegal alien lawbreakers sucking the money and the life out of state and local governments. On top of that, there’s an unknown number of obnoxious, anti-American H1B, L1, and greencard aliens taking over the high tech industries and the internet. All immigration and guestworker programs need to be stopped yesterday.

I'd also add that the Boeing 757/767 airframe development was built with about 70% technicals [Americans with 1 to 2 years college] and engineers in 1978.

Microsoft's Bill Gates is retiring, but he's a strong supporter of not hiring American technicals [or engineers too], as he just wants massive H-1B guest workers instead, for cut-rate wages destroying the American housing market [especially in Seattle, where home prices are outrageous].

Our recent CEOs are destroying our economy.

Illegal Immigrant Supporters New Legal Tack to Stop Raids

"Nitin Dhopade, the chief financial officer for Micro Solutions Enterprises, was headed toward the accounting department on the afternoon of Feb. 7 to deliver checks he had just signed. Suddenly, he says, he encountered armed men and women wearing bulletproof vests and uniforms branded with "ICE," which stands for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement [. . . ]That marked the beginning of a surprise raid that would result in the arrests of 138 suspected illegal immigrants, about one-fifth of MSE's workforce. Also swept up in the same raid were more than 100 U.S. citizens and legal residents, including Dhopade, a naturalized U.S. citizen from India. They say they were illegally detained at the factory for an hour when ICE agents blocked the doors and interrogated them, forbidding them to leave or go to the bathroom without an escort," USA Today writes. "Increasingly, U.S. citizens and legal residents who work alongside illegal immigrants are being detained and interrogated, too. And some, such as Dhopade, are filing claims or lawsuits against the government. [ . . . ] The lawsuits and claims against the government are part of a strategy by immigration lawyers to halt or change workplace raids. Peter Schey, president and executive director of the center, acknowledges that 'we're hoping the prospect of thousands of U.S. citizens over time filing claims for damages against the United States government might cause (ICE) to reconsider how these raids are conducted.'"

Would not be surprised if he actually recommended some of thhe illegals for jobs there.

Posted by: Marianne on June 25, 2008 02:21 PM

BS! There is nothing wrong with raiding work sites to determine if employees are legal. This type of action helps American citizens get and maintain jobs. Go ICE!

Posted by: Rick S on June 25, 2008 04:08 PM

I WAS WORKING AT A WORK SITE WHEN IT WAS RAIDED AND THEY CLOSED THE DOORS SO KNOW ONE COULD ESCAPE BUT EVERYBODY WAS TREATED FAIRLY. ALL THEY NEED WAS PROOF OF ID.

Posted by: ALOHA on June 25, 2008 07:09 PM

IF YOU'RE RAIDED AT AN ORGANISED CRIME EMPLOYER, YOU SUE THE EMPLOYER, NOT ICE

If you're at a party and some guests in the back room are smoking pot and the police arrive to arrest everyone; isn't the host to blame?

Ask an attorney, I bet I'm right.

Posted by: Softwarengineer on June 25, 2008 09:20 PM

I was detained approximately 20 years ago in a police raid. Unbeknownst to me there was a guy in my apartment building who had been selling drugs and weapons to kids at a nearby high school. I left my apartment and walked right into the raid as it was taking place. I attempted to return to my apartment before being threatened by a cop who spotted me. I explained that I did not know what was going on and felt that the situation looked pretty dangerous, so I tried to go back inside my home. I was searched and placed in a police car for 40 minutes before being released with an apology. A police officer explained why they were there and that they didn’t know if I was involved or not. The kicker was that the main suspect told the police that he didn’t know me and that I could not possibly have known why I was being held. So I have a first-hand understanding of what ICE is doing and why they’re doing it.

Until the law can sort out the criminals from the innocents, no one can leave or contact anyone (lest other perpetrators are warned and or evidence is destroyed). I was fuming in that police car but understood the seriousness of what had taken place. Had I known what the drug and weapons ‘perp’ was doing I’d have been the first to report him to the authorities.

Posted by: United Statesian on June 26, 2008 01:40 AM

These people have no case but are welcome to try. Law enforcement has the right to detain any one up to 72 hours with out charging them with any crime. As I see. it they are lucky that they were not held as terrorists and shipped off to Guantanomo

Posted by: Brian H. on June 26, 2008 10:55 AM

United,

I agree with you 100%. While I might get miffed for being detained if it meant getting all of the criminals out of our mist I would have no problem being "detained" for a few hours. Anytime there are things like police raids weather it be drugs or looking for illegal aliens our law enforcement officers are at risk until they have total control of the area and those in it.

As for the situation above it was clear that once ICE had figured out who was illegal and who was legal the legal residents and citizens were released so I would really find it hard to believe that any court would back up a lawsuit in this matter.

What I find really funny is how do they expect to quantify damages. There people were held less than an hour during work hours and on top of that as far as I'm concerned the "legal" workers there had a full working knowledge that illegal aliens were working there so as far as I'm concerned they were willing accomplices.

If anyone should be held accountable for the "mistreatment" of the legal workers is the company itself as they were the ones who put the "legal" workers in the situation to being with.

SO WHAT WILL THE PRO-ILLEGAL ALIEN MAYOR AND GOVERNOR DO...

Bush's good hearted family values people just expanding their hard work ethic of terror and torture into a once 21st century nation. I guess-kidnapping is vital now to America and our economy would collapse if we didn't allow for it to happen according to President Bush and his open border policy. It is time for another crusade and this time it should be led by Sheriff Arpaio to take back our state of Arizona from third world Mexico and return it the United States of America.

I wonder what that idiot governor, Janet N., has to say about what has been happening on her watch. I wonder how she is now figuring out how to defend her actions, which have helped make her state the sanctuary place for illegals that it has become. The truly sad thing is most people who are victimized in any country in the world are women and children. I guess it means nothing when politicans are counting votes--votes vs victims--where is the money and the power coming from. In any crime, one must follow the money and I wonder how much of this criminal money has found its ways into Janet's coffers. Janet, you have some explaining to do. And she wants to cut off funding for Sheriff Joe, the only person who seems to be making positive things happen in Arizona for US citizens in the illegal alien mess. There's women and there's simply females and she seems to be forming a category all her own.

Wash. State Petition Effort Begins for Immigration Enforcement Measure

"Supporters of an initiative that would restrict some state services from being offered to illegal immigrants have begun gathering signatures. Initiative 409 would require state and local government agencies to cooperate with the federal government in enforcing immigration laws, according to the ballot language," the AP reported. "Under the initiative, employers would be required to verify an applicant's ability to work legally in the United States; immigration status would have to be verified before some applicants could receive some state, local and federal public benefits; and driver's licenses could not be issued without proof of immigration status."

[Note - The initiative language was drafted by IRLI (Immigration Reform Law Institute) attorneys. At the request of Respect for Washington Board Member Craig Keller, IRLI utilized pro-citizen legal concepts that have been enacted in other state omnibus enforcement measures. Text and analysis for many of these model provisions are collected in the IRLI Model Taxpayer and Citizen Protection Act, available on the IRLI website.

If I am not mistaken, citizenship must be verified in order to collect federal benefits like Medicaid but I think many counties overlook that.

I do know that according to the California Secretary of State website, you must be a U.S. Citizen in order to register to vote - but you can register to vote by mail simply by going online and "certifying" you are a citizen and filling out the online information. I guess you need to whisper your "lie of citizenship" to yourself. What B. S.

Rep. Chris Cannon (R-UT) lost his GOP primary election to Jason Chaffetz by a margin of 60-40. "The six-term incumbent went down in flames in the Utah primary, defeated by Republican Jason Chaffetz–an underfunded political newcomer who made opposition to illegal immigration, rejection of amnesty, and support for tough deportation policies a top campaign issue. Cannon outspent Chaffetz 7-to-1 and had the entire GOP establishment from the White House on down backing him," notes Michelle Malkin. "Cannon’s open-borders supporters can spin it all they want. They’ll shamelessly accuse the same voters who stuck with Cannon for six terms of incurable bigotry. But the simple fact is that voters finally got fed up with Cannon’s constant water-carrying for La Raza and MALDEF," Malkin continues.

Update: House Appropriations Committee Rejects ICE Worksite Enforcement Amendment

This morning, Rep. David Price (D-NC), Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Homeland Security, presented the FY09 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill to the House Appropriations Committee. According to Chairman Price’s earlier press release, the bill mandated that $800 million of the funds allocated to ICE be used to identify and remove criminal aliens in an effort to reprioritize ICE’s law enforcement activities. This spending requirement could restrict ICE’s ability to fund other enforcement priorities should the need arise. Additionally, the bill provided approximately $90.7 million for enforcement which is short of the President’s request of $93 million.

To counter this move, Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA) offered an amendment that would shift from a non-enforcement area of the bill just $2.3 million specifically to help fund ICE’s worksite enforcement efforts. Earlier today, the House Appropriations Committee rejected Rep. Kingston’s amendment in a largely partisan vote.

WE'RE OUT OF MONEY FOR THIS MONKEY BUSINESS

We need to prioritize our attack on illegal alien employer prosecution; we don't have funds to attack each of the 10-20,000,000 illegal workers separately for deportation.

In my book, a hardened criminal illegal alien isn't just an especially bad one, it includes one that came here illegally and won't leave or keeps coming back after deporattion [felony], 100% of 'em fit the "felony catogory" anyway. So what is the purpose of this legal monkey business, except to set up potential future amnesty?

Posted by: Softwarengineer on June 24, 2008 01:24 PM

Once again we can save the dollars and enforce the laws on the books and they will self-deport; thereby saving US all that money for deportations.

Simply take away the magnet, deny benefits, jobs and housing and watch them leave. It has been proven several places around the country.

SELF DEPORTATION DOES WORK!!!!!

Posted by: Sick 'n Tired on June 24, 2008 02:22 PM

For cost effectiveness in these tight-budget times, we should concentrate on e-verification. They should be able to link the e-verification system with the police so that a no-match letter would include a WANTED notice! This attrition through enforcement approach would save federal money and hit a larger number of illegal alien workers, while identifying WANTED illegal aliens! Unless, of course, as the gentleman in the prior comment says, this is another intentionally expensive means with which to make more excuses for Comprehensive Immigration Reform and overpopulation!!
