McCain Won't Discuss Immigration With Barletta

"Arizona Sen. John McCain, who blamed illegal immigration Monday for Republican losses in major congressional races, has rejected Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta’s invitation to discuss the issue. 'Sen. McCain truly appreciates your invitation and the valuable opportunity it represents,' Jo Black, a scheduling official in the presumptive Republican nominee's presidential campaign, wrote in a letter to Barletta's congressional campaign Wednesday," the Citizens Voice reports.

Anyone who votes for this clown is voting for the continued downfall of their nation. Same goes for Hillary and Obama. I believe Americans should write in the candidate they really want, and not be influenced by the "lesser of evils concept" which is still voting for evil. I never could grasp the logic of this.

In the spirit of preventive medicine I have to recommend something--IMPEACH McCAIN. He is nothing but an utterly corrupt Washington insider, who is tied up with every vile group that is bad for this nation. He does NOT have Americans best interests at heart. I laugh when I hear supporters of his claim he is an "HONEST" man. In the first place rarely does an "honest man go into politicis, and McCain is a shining example. It also becomes tiring when some people say of him, "well yeah, but he was a war hero etc. Why can't war heros be judged like everyone else in this nation is by their bosses and places of business, "what have you done for me lately. Visa vie the AMerican citizenry and McCain, this would be NOTHING! He can't even try to get American companies contracts for jobs, but believes in "free trade". What a waste of time and energy backing someone like this.

Posted by: Bobby on March 21, 2008 04:13 PM

I agree with Bobby. I can't bring myself to even consider voting for McCain, Clinton or Obama. I wish more people would consider a write-in. That is what I plan to do.
A third party candidate is not logical answer because of the prohibitive cost and the hurdles of getting on the ballot in all of the states.
A write-in makes sense as a way to show that hand picked choices of the two major parties do not have a mandate. We could do better than that, if we could have way to determine what the choice of the write-in voters would be.
I do not have the computer skills to do this, but maybe there is somebody out there that would know how to set up a special page as a ballot box, for those who are willing to do a write in to show their preference. In this way write-in voters could be more united. I would be willing to vote for any one of four possibles, and would feel that I have made a better choice than we have now.
We need to unite behind one candidate, whoever gets the most votes. We pobably will need to have a scrambled letter and number code to make sure that only real people are voting and we would need a way to make sure that people vote only once.
OK people out there - Good Idea? or a BUM Idea?

Posted by: marg on March 21, 2008 06:55 PM

Of course he does not want to talk about immigration enforcement with any one. The way he has it now he can count on all the special interest money he will recieve for granting amnesty to these vermin when he is elected president. We have to find a way to make every voter in this country aware of what these candidates stand for and what illegals cost them in tax dollars before the candidates will change their position. If not America is lost.

Fox Visits Portland, Slams U.S. Policy

"Former Mexican President Vicente Fox pushed North American nations to expand free trade and urged the U.S. Congress to overhaul immigration laws during a visit to Portland on Wednesday night. In a talk laced with humor, the 65-year-old known for breaking the seven-decade rule of Mexico's Institutional Revolutionary Party in 2000 appeared at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall as part of the World Affairs Council of Oregon speaker series," the Oregonian reports. "Fox denounced a wall being built along the U.S.-Mexico border to deter illegal crossings and urged Americans to have compassion for immigrants, not act out of fear. He called a lack of access to education the biggest threat to Mexico."

Think anyone in Mexico has noticed that their government has gone missing? Along with 25 percent of their population. All of their elected officials, past present and future, seem to have no time to spare for their own citizens as they are forever on this side of the border, trying to run our government.

For that matter, it appears that our elected ones are spending so much time dealing with the neglected needs of Mexico, they can find no time to deal with the needs of this country. When did we institute a government exchange program?

The People of both nations need to whack these weasels upside the head. Really hard.

Vincente Fox and George W. Bush- moron twins separated at birth and both having the same goal of destroying America. What's next- Americans getting fined millions of dollars a day for failure to pay child support to all of the children in Mexico and Latin America. They stuck us here in Arizona for millions for having to support an English learning program for kids who don't speak English so I wouldn't be surprised that some pandering presidential candidate makes a promise of having Americans be responsible for financially supporting tens of millions of non American kids. Vincente Fox couldn't be a better spokesperson for why we need to build a real tall fence.

H-1B Lottery Rules Changed to Punish Fraud

"Immigration officials expect to be overwhelmed with more high-tech worker visa applications than they can grant when the application period opens April 1. So they warned businesses Wednesday not to try to game the system by submitting multiple applications of H-1B visas, intended for skilled foreign workers, for the same employee. Last April 1, 120,000 applications came in, nearly twice the annual limit of 65,000. As a result, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services conducted a lottery for the first time. High-tech businesses do not like that because it means they might not get their first-choice workers," the AP reports. "This year, 'to ensure a fair and orderly distribution of available H-1B visas,' the agency will deny all multiple petitions filed and will not refund the $320 filing fee, the agency said."

Yet we need H-1Bs?

Posted by: Softwarengineer on March 20, 2008 06:53 PM

The only rules the Govt. should be making are no more H1B visas, no more L1 visas, and no more employment based greencards either.

And BTW, forget about all the talk about a recession, it looks more like a depression now just look at the Govt. bailout of the Wall Street bankers, all because of a run on bank assets due to the subprime mortgage mess. Sound familiar?

Get ready for soup lines and tent cities.

Posted by: Karl on March 20, 2008 09:05 PM

The H-1B visa is a fraud perpetrated by the major multinational companies to bring tech and professional workers in at below market rates. I am an experienced software developer with more than 15 years under my belt and I have lost multiple positions to H-1B visa applicants because the foreign software engineers were willing to take the jobs for pay rates that were far below prevailing market rates.

I find that even when I lower my salary requirements to H-1B levels, the companies will still favor the foreign engineers over me because it is so cheap and easy to sponsor the foreign engineers for green cards and then hold the foreign workers hostage to the green card process.

Bill Gates has done nothing more than add insult to injury by stating that his company creates between three and four jobs for every H-1B visa worker. Really? I didn't know that Microsoft needed that many secretaries and janitors.

Do you want to know why so many experienced programmers are leaving the computer science field? ANSWER: The H-1B visa and green card scams.

Do those of you in other careers know what will happen to you if either the H-1B visas or green cards are increased? ANSWER: Kiss your careers goodbye.

Corporate executives and politicians are destroying American jobs and American industry. As someone who trained my replacements from India and Taiwan, I know that American workers are losing out because of H1B, outsourcing, and green cards.

This is a step in the right direction.

However, a large part of the problems with the current Visa situation has to do with discrimination.

Phila. Cheesesteak Shop Cleared in English Only Dispute

"The owner of a famous cheesesteak shop did not discriminate when he posted signs asking customers to speak English, a city panel ruled Wednesday. In a 2-1 vote, a Commission on Human Relations panel found that two signs at Geno's Steaks telling customers, This is America: WHEN ORDERING 'PLEASE SPEAK ENGLISH,' do not violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance," the AP reports. "Shop owner Joe Vento has said he posted the signs in October 2005 because of concerns over immigration reform and an increasing number of people in the area who could not order in English. Vento has said he never refused service to anyone because they couldn't speak English. But critics argued that the signs discourage customers of certain backgrounds from eating at the shop."

What is a 'Commission on Human Relations panel'?
The Article refers to this as a given without explaining what it is. Were charges brought against Geno's Steaks? If not, then on who's authority did this panel 'find' anything? Am I to understand that government employees are free to investigate business owners and proceed with 'findings' without citing an actual violation? If so, then this has broad implications for the many businesses in my area that refuse me service because I do not speak Portuguese or Creole.

I believe that English is the language that this country was built on. Every group of people that came here in the past recognized this. They were eager to learn English. My ancestors came from Africa, different tribes, sometimes they couldn't even speak with one another, but they all learned English. There were no free classes at night. Some of these illegals have been here 10, 15+ years and refuse to learn. I fault corporate America for making it so easy to "Press # 2 for Spanish", they feel they don't have to learn. It should be English only spoken in all public & government places. When in Rome..... you know the rest! Good Job Geno Steaks !
