Georgia Ready to Use Troopers to Identify Illegal Alien Drivers
About two dozen Georgia state troopers and investigators have now completed training in
immigration law and are ready to begin applying that training to identifying illegal alien lawbreakers. According to the Atlanta Constitution-Journal, until now Cobb County Sheriff’s deputies were the only law enforcers in Georgia trained by the federal government’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and deputized to enforce immigration laws. Cobb began deporting inmates from its jail in July. Motor vehicle department investigators will be applying the training to go after drivers with phony licenses. A spokesman for the state Department of Driver Services commented, "They've got a fraudulent document, they've committed a felony, and they're going to jail.
