JEB BUSH COMES OUT IN FAVOR OF ILLEGAL ALIEN DRIVER'S LICENSES

The Stein Report has learned that Florida Governor Jeb Bush today endorsed granting driver's licenses to illegal aliens. Bush's position comes despite the fact that several of the Sept. 11 hijackers used Florida driver's licenses, and driver's license security remains a pressing issue nationwide. Bush reportely commented that illegal immigrants should be kept out of the country, but once they are here they shouldn't be ignored.

ILLEGAL ALIENS GET HOUSING SUBSIDIES IN D.C. SUBURBS

"Arlington and Montgomery counties are the only local jurisdictions that do not check the immigration status of applicants for local housing subsidies, allowing illegal aliens to receive taxpayer-funded rent assistance," the Washington Times reported. "Montgomery County spends about $3.7 million a year on rent assistance for 1,600 households, and Arlington County spends about $2.4 million a year on housing grants for 680 households." Because state and county funds, and not federal funds, are used to pay the housing subsidies, Montgomery and Arlington counties are not required to run applicants' names through the federal database which checks immigration status for entitlements.

SUMMER JOBS AT RISK, CONGRESS TRIES TO SNATCH JOBS FROM TEENS TO GIVE TO FOREIGNERS

"The summer hospitality industry will try to win Senate passage this week of a bill to raise the visa cap for seasonal foreign workers after it was blocked last week by lawmakers concerned about U.S. unemployment and higher immigration," the Washington Times reports. And while some employers are saying that is Congress and the President refuse to increase the cap, they're going to get blamed "for destroying Summer," others argue that increasing immigration during the current economic crunch could be an explosive issue. "Americans certainly make the connection between jobs and the flooding of the labor market with foreign workers," said Rosemary Jenks, a lobbyist with NumbersUSA. She also said unemployment statistics show there are Americans who can hold those jobs

FLORIDA OFFICIALS TARGET IMMIGRATION CONSULTANTS

"[Dario] Sedano's story is common among immigrants who are often easy fraud targets. Nationwide, as many as 30 percent of people in deportation proceedings are there because of alleged immigration experts who mishandled their cases, according to Charles Kuck of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, a Washington-based group pushing for national legislation that would create a uniform penalty," the Sun Sentinel reports.

BUS COMPANY ADMITS GUILT IN IMMIGRANT SMUGGLING RING

"A bus company has admitted its role in a conspiracy to smuggle illegal Mexican immigrants to the United States and was fined $3 million," the AP reports. "Federal prosecutors said Gonzalez Inc. transported more than 42,000 passengers, virtually all illegal immigrants, on a single route between Arizona and Los Angeles in 2000 and 2001."

IEEE EXPERT ON OUTSOURCING

13 MILLION MORE VISITORS TO BE FINGERPRINTED

"Millions of visitors from some of the United States' closest allies soon will have to be fingerprinted and photographed before entering the country, U.S. officials said yesterday," the Washington Post reported. "Officials said the requirements of the U.S. VISIT program will be expanded this fall to cover about 13 million travelers each year from 27 countries, including Australia, Britain and Japan, whose citizens are allowed to travel within the United States for as many as 90 days without a visa."
