New Haven Mayor Proposes City Fund ID Cards for Illegal Immigrants "Grants that paid for the first three years of the Elm City ID card have dried up, and, for the first time, Mayor John DeStefano Jr. is proposing that the program be paid for with general funds," the New Haven Register reports. "The city has offered the identification cards to residents, regardless of immigration status, since 2007. The cards are accepted identification at several local banks, and can be used for parking meters and to access the city beach, golf course, recycling center and libraries." |
