DC Area Gangs Move to Sanctuary Cities Ahead of Enforcement The Northern Virginia Regional Gang Task Force report found that as a result of immigration enforcement in Northern Virginia, gang members are moving to the District of Columbia and parts of Maryland, where sanctuary city policies protect them from deportation. Montgomery County, where police are discouraged from trying to deport gang members, has become a haven for criminal gangs. |
