Emasculating 287(g): Obama Administration Takes Next Steps to Throttle Immigration Law Enforcement

Seventy local police agencies have signed 287(g) agreements with DHS to enforce immigration laws, the Washington Times reported. The DHS revised the 287(g) program to restrict the type of enforcement done by local police after the Obama administration began; agencies around the country are now signing these revised agreements, among them Maricopa County and Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Despite the changes to 287(g), amnesty supporters are still not placated and demand the program end. The Colorado Independent has more. Heather MacDonald has a post up at National Review Online looking at some of the "innocent" victims of immigration enforcement under 287(g) and explains why we need deportation for people who commit offenses the Obama administration doesn't consider "dangerous" like drunk-driving.
