Probation, No Prison for Business Owners in First Obama Raid Case
Shafique Amirali Dhanani and Shirin Dhanani Makala with Yamato Engine Specialists were sentenced to a year probation, instead of the fines and prison originally sought as part of a plea agreement. The case was the first significant raid during the Obama administration, and prompted DHS secretary Napolitano to choke off worksite enforcement operations.
