287(g) Program Has a Significant Effect on Deportations New data from the DHS shows the significant impact that 287(g) has had on deportation of illegal alien criminals. For last fiscal year, ICE began deportation proceedings against 225 percent more criminal illegal immigrants than in fiscal 2006. In addition to these deportations, an additional 78,000 criminal illegal aliens were found and deported due to 287(g) over the last five years. |
