Obama Administration Promises Detention Overhaul
ICE says it will be revamping the detention program after criticism from immigrant groups. Currently ICE uses contracts with local prisons around the country to house detainees. ICE says that as part of the review it will stop housing detained families at a facility in Texas, and move them all to Pennsylvania. "This is one in a continuous stream of announcements from the administration that appears to potentially redirect resources away from what Americans want most, which is an increase in interior apprehensions, enforcement and removal," said FAIR president Dan Stein.
