Arpaio Says Feds Are Already Refusing to Take Illegal Immigrants Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he had to release 3 illegal immigrants caught during a recent crime sweep because the DHS refused to take them into custody. The illegal immigrants did not have criminal histories beyond illegal entry, and under new DHS policy the agency is not processing them for removal if caught by local police. The change was supposed to take place later this year. |
