House Democrats Block 18 Reform Amendments Democrats on the House Rules Committee blocked 18 Republican immigration amendments, House Republicans charged. Ranking Member Lamar Smith called the move 'undemocratic' in the release and said the maneuver was meant to bury the popular amendments without forcing a vote. Among those amendments held up was one based on FAIR's work to get E-Verify mandated for all federal contractors. Read more here (PDF). |
