New FAIR Analysis: AgJobs Bill is Two-Step Amnesty Program From FAIR's Government Relations team The Agricultural Job Opportunities, Benefits and Security (AgJOBS) Act of 2009, introduced last month in the U.S. Senate by Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), creates an amnesty program for illegal aliens who have worked in the agricultural industry. The legislation first gives illegal alien agricultural workers a two-step amnesty to transition from unlawful status to green card holding, legal permanent residence, and then "reforms" the H-2A temporary agricultural guest worker program to allow large agribusinesses easier access to cheap foreign labor.
