Illegal Alien Raid at Iowa Kosher Meat-Packer A raid by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents yesterday apprehended about 300 Comments
We regularly read about ICE raids and deportations of illegal aliens but little information about prosecutions of illegal employers? Posted by: Bob Hubble on May 13, 2008 01:25 PM 80% of the workforce !!! Posted by: takn on May 13, 2008 01:27 PM "Authorities have released about 40 workers. . .because they are primary caregivers." Okay. Now, folks, while we are processing these people, let us PLEASE, PLEASE find any and all anchor babies who were born to any parent while in the employ of Agriprocessors - AND HAND THE BILL TO THEM!! I mean it! We need a lawsuit for reimbursement for ALL the costs incurred by their crime. That means ALL the costs for health care, education, welfare, HUD amd WIC. Even if the case lost, it would be very useful to show just how expensive this 'cheap' labor is. Posted by: Bill Dexter on May 13, 2008 01:33 PM MANDITORY MINIMUM SENTENCE OF TWO YEARS IN A MAXIMUM SECURITY FEDERAL PRISON FOR ANY PERSON FOUND GUILTY OF KNOWINGLY EMPLOYING AN ILLEGAL ALIEN AT THIS MEAT PACKING FACILITY. THROW THE BOOK AT THIS PREDATORY SCUM WHO FOLLOW THE PRACTICE OF HUMAN SLAVERY. THE PRACTICE OF HUMAN SLAVERY MUST BE STOPPED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THE POLITICIANS WHO ENCOURAGE AND ENABLE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION INTO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ARE THE TRAITORS AND THE ENEMY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THIS MEANS YOU,,,NANCY PELOSI,,,,AND HARRY REID,,,,AND THE SACK OF GARBAGE IN THE WHITE HOUSE.....PASS THE SAVE ACT AND MAKE E- VERIFY PERMANENT LAW----FOR STARTERS..... Posted by: T. Jamieson on May 13, 2008 01:34 PM I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL TO SAY, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON, WHEN OUR OWN COUNTRY CAN'T & WON'T DO THE JOB (GOVERNMENT). WHAT DOES CALDERON HAVE ON BUSH? THATS WHAT I WANT TO KNOW. WHY DOES BUSH WANT TO GIVE 1 BILLION TO MEXICO, AND LOOK AT OUR OWN BACK YARD, THEY ARE MOVING FROM MEXICO, TO THE U.S. Posted by: SUSAN MARIANO on May 13, 2008 01:47 PM I AGREE TOTALLY TAKN I'd go one step further, arrest the company owners as you suggeted and also make them pay to deport the illegal workers and their families back to their mother countries; after-all, they kept them here "knowingly" and are the root cause of this depression wage mitigation slave trade mess our "unplanned growth economy quagmire" the politicians won't address [they want to brainlessly make it worse with even more American overpopualtion]. Posted by: Softwarengineer on May 13, 2008 01:55 PM IT`S BECAUSE OF GREEDY COMPANIES LIKE THIS, WE HAVE THE ILLEGAL ALIEN PROBLEM WE HAVE... FINE AND JAIL THESE SCUMBAG EMPLOYERS, THEN THE ILLEGALS WON`T HAVE ANY JOBS TOO STEAL, AND THEN THEY`LL SELF DEPORT... ILLEGAL HIRING IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF ALL THIS CHAOS, ALONG WITH THE PANDERING CORPORATE WHORE POLITICIANS, WHO ROLL OUT THE RED CARPET FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS, TOO PLEASE THEIR CORPORATE PIMPS. ATTRITION THROUGH ENFORCEMENT WORKS! Posted by: American Me on May 13, 2008 03:28 PM Tag'em and Bag'em boys!!! Well done I.C.E.!!! Posted by: Edgar on May 13, 2008 03:29 PM It’s common these days among the ignorant to think that the employers can be easily prosecuted. The fact is that employers are only required to complete and retain a form and to check documents. Said documents can be easily forged and are available on street corners in most major cities and in many small towns throughout America and are of sufficient quality to fool the naked eye. Employers are not required to check the validity of these documents, only to review them. An employer who completes and retains the required form is difficult to prosecute. The raids against Swift & Co and Pilgrims Pride didn’t net any high level people. When they nailed Walmart a few years ago it took court approved wire taps to get the evidence. Look who’s getting hauled off to jail, some scum bag subcontractor. It’s not that simple to prosecute the employers. People that think otherwise really need to be educated on this issue. Posted by: Ralph on May 13, 2008 03:50 PM Everyone is saying throw the book at them because of the illegals - and I fully agree with all that. Nobody mentioned in their posts about the meth lab. Will the owners be thrown the book or slapped on the wrist for having a meth lab on their company land? I want to see a criminal follow-up on one of these so we can see what, if anything, is being done to these employers. Posted by: Sick 'n Tired on May 13, 2008 04:21 PM kudos for ice. I hope they will come to Southern ID ad roundup a few thousand more. Posted by: ALOHA on May 13, 2008 06:14 PM Oh God, Ralph is back... Posted by: takn on May 14, 2008 02:58 AM Ralph does make a good point on this post. We need to close these loopholes that let employers get away with their criminal activity. Posted by: Dave A on May 14, 2008 09:17 AM Ralph, you know full well that we are aware of the laws that make hiring illegal aliens so easy. You know that it is these laws we want to change. Saying we are ignorant of the laws we seek to change is really an avoidance response. Isn't that beneath you? Posted by: Bill Dexter on May 14, 2008 11:11 AM Softwareengineer, I like your idea. Employers who get caught hiring illegal aliens should not only be heavily fined but also forced to pay the cost of deportation. Why should our tax dollars be used to pay for deportation when it's the employers greed that start this mess to begin with. Brian Posted by: Brian on May 14, 2008 01:06 PM it's seems like you people care more about illegal immigration than illegal drugs....meth kill the youth of this country...and all that under the cover of a Kosher meat packing plant(under religious supervision)....Are you all trying to cover the real crime here??? Posted by: Bill on May 14, 2008 02:01 PM [The source also reported that some employees were running a methamphetamine lab in the plant and were bringing weapons into the plant, which employs about 1,000. He said he was fired after he told his superiors.] I read this too Sick 'n Tired!! Whaaaattt!! Weapons and a meth lab?! ICE has enough to deport every ILLEGAL ALIEN just for being here illegally but the employers "have" to be arrested for the meth lab (unless it was dismantled beforehand). The fired employee has a hell of a lawsuit at the very least for his termination. He might be satisfied enough with the raid and knowing the Orthodox Jews won't pay top dollar for kosher/meth meat. Too bad we all can't learn if the listed grocers in our hometowns are buying from this company. Then again I never shop at any of the stores listed anyway. Posted by: United Statesian on May 14, 2008 04:14 PM Bill, speak for yourself. Some of the members of the "we" that you refer to obviously haven't a clue about the immigration laws in this country. Posted by: Ralph on May 14, 2008 06:25 PM Good Job ICE. Taking 300 more criminal illegals immigrants off the street is a good thing. I hope the politicians in near by Wisconsin (my home state) are watching this and seeing that the legal citizens of Iowa do not want these criminal's in their state and neither do the citizens of Wisconsin. Trying to turn Wisconsin into a sanctuary state like you have been doing is the wrong thing for Wisconsin.
