Temporary Workers Denied Transportation IDs

"A German graduate student in oceanography at M.I.T. applied to the Transportation Security Administration for a new ID card allowing him to work around ships and docks. What the student, Wilken-Jon von Appen, received in return was a letter that not only turned him down but added an ominous warning from John M. Busch, a security administration official: “I have determined that you pose a security threat.” Similar letters have gone to 5,000 applicants across the country who have at least initially been turned down for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential, an ID card meant to guard against acts of terrorism, agency officials said Monday," the New York Times reports. "Ms. Howe and Maurine Fanguy, who oversees the new ID card program, said that most foreign students did not qualify for the identity cards, but that the letters were not intended to label the recipients as potential terrorists. (Some applicants are also turned down because of criminal records.)"

Wow! Wait until the White House hears about this. They will clear up this nonsense right away. Can you imagine restricting access to ships and docks to those brilliant students who are studying here so they can be available to do work American Citizens won't do.

COME ON, THERE'S A RECESSION GOING ON

Why do we open jobs for any foreigner in America; until we're "full tax base" employed again?

Perhaps we can keep the interest payments paid on the federal deficit if we do this first....I know, our tyranical elected leaders want to bankrupt our tax base with more uncontrolled foreign population growth, laundered money leaving the country and slave wages paying no taxes.

That way, we'll all prosper [down the proverbial toilet that is].

Software,

That's one thing I've never understood. By allowing this flood of illegal aliens and H1B Visa holders our government is causing a our wages to shrink which means less tax revenue collected then on top of all of that you have illegal aliens milk the system dry of our tax dollars by getting free health care, access to our schools and welfare.

If you don't like the service you recieved from our government? When you go home tell your friends, that way they won't want to come here.

Yeah, why is Bush expanding the H1-B visa program? My guess is it because corporations want low-income workers.

Uhm...
I have trouble believing an MIT student would want to work on ships or docks...

Sorry...better safe than sorry and put Americans to work, since those jobs are supposedly union held and pay well!
