Court Case Seeks to Broaden Asylum for Chinese Affected by One-Child Policy
"Partners of Chinese women who were forced to have abortions are
pressing the Supreme Court to make it easier to get asylum in the United States. The Bush administration is resisting the male partners' efforts to get asylum, even though the Republican congressman who wrote a 1996 asylum law said it was intended to cover men as well as women who are victims of China's controversial family planning policy. There is no dispute that women can seek asylum under the law," the Washington Post reports. "U.S. courts have taken varying approaches to claims by Chinese men that they should be allowed to stay in the United States because they have suffered under a policy that generally limits couples to one child."

China's policy is an overpopulation issue, not a human right's issue. If you know you can only have one child, practice birth control. I may sound a bit hard-hearted right now, but isn't what they are really asking for is to come here and have larger families which will overpopulate the U.S.?
As I recall, our aslym policy resulting from Chinese birth regulation was initiated by the Republicans. I wonder what they would have done if it were Mexico instead of China.

melena29 is right on the mark. And it's not hard hearted, its called being responsible. Victims? Asylum? I don't think so. Creating more overpopulation will make victims of every one else in whichever country they inflict themselves upon. And if irresponsibly creating more children is their primary objective, then there are plenty of places to do it besides America. We aren't obliged to provide our home as the worlds incubator of more global poverty. It would be reckless and irresponsible policy to permit such a catastrophe to be inflicted upon our own citizens, or to the rest of the world. Deny their applications a hundred times over.
Where the heck is that wall?
Just what we need is for China to export it's overpopulation problem to the US. Does the US really want to be the dumping ground for every country with an overpopulation problem?
Ditto melena29 and jeebie. I'm sick and tired of everywhere else's problems being America's responsibility. And I'm sick and tired of American taxpayers, who responsibly limit their family to a size they can financially support, having to subsidize other irresponsible people's incessant breeding.
The Chinese are seeking political asylum so they can come to the U.S. and have as large of family as they like. It seems to me that the only Chinese women that could show they are truly victims of this Chinese law are the women that were forced to be sterilized by the Chinese Government. This being the case the only Chinese women that should be considered for political asylum in the U.S. would have to be sterile.
China's population control is the best thing that human beings have done for the biosphere since we first rubbed two sticks together. What might be confusing American lawmakers who think the Chinese women are 'victims' of the policy is that you have never seen a policy that actually identifies a real problem and effectively corrects it.

Maybe they'll lend us a bit more money to keep us buying more of their stuff a few weeks longer?
Great!! Now the Chinese will ensure their spies are sent to America under the guise that the Chinese Government will abort the family's second or third child. Oh no, we're not spies, just a simple pregnant couple trying to avert China's abortion policies. China checkmates America again!
By the way, how many African women who faced mutilation of their lower body parts were flown to America? Many of them died in that ghastly government sanctioned procedure. Oh yeah, the number was 0.0!!
I am so sick of the liberal courts in this nation, pandering and catering and advocating for every group in the world on every conceivable issue, while totally IGNORING the effect their treasonous actions have on the AMERICAN CITIZENRY. MOST OF THESE JUDGES ARE VIOLATING THEIR OATHS OF OFFICE WHEN ILLEGAL ALIENS COME BEFORE THEM FOR WHATEVER CRIME THEY COMMITTED AND THEY DON'T IMMEDIATELY CALL I.C.E. TO HAVE THEM DEPORTED. THESE OFFICERS OF THE LAW ARE EXHIBITING CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR EVERY SINGLE DAY ACROSS THIS NATION. THEY NEVER SEEM TO HAVE A PROBLEM PROSECUTING AMERICAN CITIZENS FOR THE SLIGHTEST INFRACTION. WE DON'T NEED CHINESE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T HAVE ENOUGH CHILDREN IN CHINA. GOD HELP THIS NATION!!!!!!!
