Spending Bill Changes Border Fence to Single, Not Double Layer

"Congress last night passed a giant new spending bill that undermines current plans for a U.S.-Mexico border fence, allowing the Homeland Security Department to build a single-tier barrier rather than the two-tier version that has worked in California," the Washington Times reports. "'The fact that this was buried in a bloated, 3,500-page omnibus speaks volumes about the Democrats' unserious approach on border security and illegal immigration,' said House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, Ohio Republican. 'Gutting the Secure Fence Act will make our borders less secure, but it's consistent with the pattern of behavior we’ve seen all year from this majority.'"

Too bad they can't pass a law that says only those items specifically related to the title a bill can be passed as part of the bill.

They (politicians) are always hiding crap like this inside the fine print of a bill. Unless you read every word of the bill you'd never see it - especially buried in a 3,500 page bill. They should also limit the size of the bill to 20-30 pages.

Americans are going to realize as time goes by that this nation has so many traitors, it would take years to get rid of all of them, if ever. Also, as I have said before, the reponse by the so called patriots to this invasion, Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reily, etc. has been about as "weak" as a nineteenth century womens tea social.

All of the Democrats and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson who voted to gut the border fence need to be kicked out of office in November 2008.

Criminals! Worried ONLY about illegal alien votes in order to gain POWER! Have no REAL concern for people, otherwise they would stop the illegal alien flow, drug flow, human smuggling, and terrorist flow from crossing the borders and ports!

We need a BORDER GUARD much like the COAST GUARD! Men and Women ENLIST, Border Patrol can be the Law Enforcement Arm of this organization...

So, the Coast Guard covers the ocean and coast lines... while the Border Guard would cover ports and borders ...

Give our Kids a chance to serve the Nation without going to the war overseas.... but serve in the War against Drugs, illegal aliens, terrorists, crime, etc... by serving on the borders!

I think it's time we gut these traitors from office.

Goodbye America.

The bottom line here is we are about to lose our country if we keep allowing these "fools", whom are supposed to represent us, to keep selling America down the river.
Don't seem to make a lick which party we support, they both still put up every roadblock to REAL immigration reform and building the fence to secure America against the dual threat of the invasion from Mexico and the infiltration of America by terrorists through the open southern border.
I don't know the solution except to say Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter, or maybe Ron Paul are our only hope to survive as a nation.
Merry Christmas to everyone.

I think it is pretty fair evidence that the politicians
have no intention of governing this country but instead intend to "rule" the country as if they are kings.

Play both sides until it is clear who will win. Then make your move. American Politician 101.

Why would anyone be surprised? You expected these liars to go against the wishes of big business and mexican racial groups? Really? They think we're just a bunch of dumb bubbas and that mexicans, somalis, arabs, asians, and every third worlder on the planet is a Gift From God.

"I don't know the solution except to say Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter, or maybe Ron Paul are our only hope to survive as a nation."

ZMAN738, our salvation, if it will come, cannot come solely from the political success of the true patriots you mentioned. The actions of one person, no matter how intelligent or dynamic, would never be sufficient to stop the Machine. That's the makings for a movie plot, but does not come close to the trials by fire we must collectively endure to regain our footing.

Political activism is virtually worthless at this point. Grassroots activism has had the important effect of spreading the message and educating the public but we can't get past the juggernaut. I wonder if this outcome of grassroots activism was understood a priori which is why the political elites seemed fairly unconcerned about its blossoming. We are spinning our wheels. Real change can only come from the pressure we can exert from national boycotts and strikes and getting the general public to participate in sufficient numbers depends not only on education but also on motivation. I would say that an obviously crumbling economy is highly motivating.

The importance of the candidacies of Paul, Hunter, and Tancredo is the message and education sparked by their public presence. Will it be enough to galvanize the semi-comatose, dumbed-down public into a mass "awakening"? Who knows? But we have to try, there is too much at stake to do otherwise. As a brain scientist, I can tell you that humans react very predictably in most situations. That is what the Establishment is counting on. However, there are wild card variables even their supercomputers can't reliably factor in.

Kudos to the wild cards!

Americans have been betrayed. The democratic party has eliminated any ideas of the fence, they have screwed over Americans best interests again. Only the anti-Bush faction of the Republican Party cares about Americans as a people and nation. How much clearer can it get? The democratic party is for the utter destruction of the nation as it has existed for more than two hundred years.

Well, Tom Tancredo is dropping out of the race...

Ron Paul is raising a lot of money... but, still does not get the media attention like the others...MSM.

Of the crowd, dont know who to vote for!

I would vote for Lou Dobbs or Pat Buchannan if I could!

Posted by: Greg on December 19, 2007 06:35 PM

I was so angry when I learned what the traitors had done, I sent a couple of hot letters to my Texas Senators. They'll probably come looking for me! Then, I was saddened to see that Tom Tancredo is dropping out. I know he was at the very bottom, but he was one of the two or three voices or reason of the Republicans candidates. Bad day all the way around...
