Building A New Vision of the Non-Border Conferees Fault U.S.
"The border wall, local police enforcement of immigration laws and an
independent commission overseeing the U.S. Border Patrol are among topics being discussed by participants in a two-day border-policy conference organized by immigrant-rights groups that started today at the Camino Real Hotel in Downtown El Paso. Organizers of the conference, named 'Building a New Vision of the Border,' said that they would like to see changes to U.S. policies on immigration, the international ports and law enforcement that they said have not taken into account cities on the border, such as El Paso," the El Paso Times. "The conference is being attended by about 150 people, including elected officials, academics, activists and clergy from Texas, New Mexico and Arizona speaking on a variety of topics. The gathering was organized by the Border Human Rights Collaborative and the U.S.-Mexico Border and Immigration Task Force."
