Peggy Noonan: Build the Wall, Seal the Border "Naturally I hope the new immigration bill fails. It is less a bill than a big dirty Comments
Fences work. Those who say they don't are the enemy who want massive illegal immigration. Posted by: Bobby on May 25, 2007 12:39 PM I'm glad to see so many mainstream pundits coming out against this bill. There's simply no way the federal government can last if it sticks it to the taxpayers who support it. We will have a failed state, and the American people, in the chaos and job loss confusion, will stop paying taxes and buying goods altogether. The revolt will bring down the elites, I guarantee it. The elite cannot enforce their stupid decisions and mad visions against 300 million people. Posted by: Concerned Citizen on May 25, 2007 01:08 PM I'm still trying to figure out how Bush and his cronies expect to make us swallow 2.5 trillion dollars in debt due to the increase cost assocaited with make 20+ million illegal aliens citizens. This should not even be an issue. People have wanted years the LEGAL way to become citizens and just because illegal aliens force their way here that somehow justifies turning them into citizens ahead of everyone who has done it the right way. This nation was founded on the rule of law not who whines the most. Brian Posted by: Brian on May 25, 2007 01:14 PM We need to build the fence that's presently going so slow. I really think we should consider paying Posted by: Allan S. on May 25, 2007 01:26 PM I made my calls to my Senators today and yesterday. I try to find excuses, but this is not a time to. If you haven't called, call. If you have called, call again. The following is for Virginia, but similar experiences apply to other states. I called the White House and Senator Warner and both just wanted to get my opposition to the bill down and move on. I left a message at Jim Webb's senate office. They are under time pressure. This is working. Call today before the break. Below is a link on the case of the two Virginia Beach teens, Allison Kunhardt and Tessa Tranchant killed by a drunk illegal. Mention their names if you can on the call, and definitely if you leave a message for Jim Webb. This case is getting to Scroll down for picture of the teens: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1836423/posts "Alison's father, David Kunhardt, and Tessa's mother, Colette Tranchant, attended Friday's gathering." There are other cases like these at Vdare, Brenda Walker. Call and come back here and write down your experiences. Posted by: Old Atlantic on May 25, 2007 01:56 PM A COMPREHENSIVE IMMIGRATION BILL WITH AMNESTY= FAILED EMPLOYEE ENFORCEMENT I'd add too, we need to weigh even the need for so called MSM high skilled labor shortages with caution. Is the need generated with excessive "experience' requirements, then filled with foreign slave labor that has this "experience' in a foreign land? Why can't we use our own American college kids? I bet domestic professionals train much faster in America than non-English wanna-bees, anyway. As far as paying them more, as anyone from the MSM ever thought for one minute, they're worth it? But then, I'm making too much common sense and besides the ghost unemployment rate proves there's a labor shortage, ask the MSM. The lower wages for almost all professional Middle Class in America since 1999 doesn't mean there's a labor glut, that's just more racist KKK type hogwash to put a stop to more OVERPOPULATION in America. Posted by: Softwarengineer on May 25, 2007 02:51 PM If it was only that easy... The sellouts in Washington are too stupid to figure out border security and enforcement first, then take it from there... Big business has them bought and paid for, so they can keep on getting their cheap illegal labor... As I have said before, greed overpowers the American people, just look at this disaster of a bill these clowns are trying too shove down our throats once again. AMNESTY NOW, BORDER SECURITY NEVER, THE AMERICAN CITIZENS LAST!... THAT`S THE U.S. CONGRESS! Posted by: American Me on May 25, 2007 03:07 PM I'm in such agreement with your post Brian. I've included exactly those points, along with a mouthful of others, in my letters to Congress. Sorry Allan S., I just couldn't swallow paying these illegals to obey the law and leave - not after they've cheated and stolen their way through our welfare systems already for so many years. Which, by the way, is one of the many reasons it annoys me when pro-amnesty people want to give a pass especially to those who have been here the longest. Heck, they've been draining our taxpayer services the most! (i.e., the longest). As Congress bickers on and on about the practicality or impracticality and costs of border security and interior enforcement, both of which I support 100%, I wish they would stop the practice of granting U.S. birthright citizenship IMMEDIATELY. I know people in Congress could (and would) drag debate about that on "forever", talking about Constitutionality, and so on and holding it up as part of a comprehensive immigration reform - (I'm quite sick of hearing about how it's necessary to have a "comprehensive" package too, by the way ... what a load of cr#@) - but I think stopping birthright citizenship would be one of the RELATIVELY easier and least expensive actions to implement - the biggest bang for the buck, if you will. Anchor babies are such a huge part of the problem - being used as a legal means to obtaining food stamps and other free welfare services, providing fuel to the pro-amnesty crowd's swan song cries about "tearing families apart" (take them with you, stupid!), and as anchor babies are reaching voting age they have the potential (and I believe already are) to affect election outcomes and legislation in a way that is truly detrimental to the future of this country. Birthright citizenship is just giving more and more people who have absolutely no allegiance to this country (and never will) a voice in how it is governed. End it, and end it now ... please! Posted by: Diane on May 25, 2007 03:21 PM Diane, I hate the idea of paying these bastar-s to Posted by: Allan S. on May 25, 2007 04:43 PM I agree with all of you, but I feel that ALLEN S. has a valid point... and frankly, it is much cheaper than what we pay them thru our taxes vis a vis all the programs that they get... like medical, education, baring a child, etc... so, while some may think 10K is a large sum, not me... I bet they would scramble to get that and haul ass back across the border. Just photograph and fingerprint them once paid... so they cannot come back and do it again. As for Peggy Noonan's article... I am happy she is speaking out, while she may still be misguided in some respects like the tech sector and such, I agree with SW that our OWN kids (my kids) can benefit from a MICROSOFT or someone elses scholarship and education vice importing Hadji and Radji to work at a lesser income displacing Americans. I would secure the borders and stop all immigration for five years to see what happens and give everyone a chance to breath... Posted by: Greg on May 25, 2007 09:41 PM The article may be titled 'build the wall, seal the border, but it sounds like Peggy is still as infatuated with immigration as ever. Posted by: Vanishing American on May 25, 2007 10:12 PM Diane, and all who think I'm way to pessimistic. Posted by: Allan S. on May 26, 2007 01:51 AM Lets Call Our Congressmen On The Illegals Dime "This 800-882-2005 number paid for by the Mexican groups for Amnesty will get you right to your Senator. I just called it and got DIRECTLY!!!! ! to my Senators office. They answered very cheerfully, but was a bit down it seemed when I told her in English that Senator Murray had better not sign it….it is HIGH TREASON! Here is how it works….it is in Spanish of course. Push 1 when you hear the Spanish jabber, then when you hear the Spanish jabber again; push 1 again to go directly to your senator’s office. You can also push 2 the second time you hear the Spanish jabber and it will go to the Senators aids. You can also leave a message if you can’t get through." This I got off the Council of Conservative Citizens site, so use to your delight. Posted by: Blue Eyed Devil on May 26, 2007 01:52 AM Here is a link dated a few days ago about all the decapitation going on in Mexico. Like Iraqis, the warfare2050.blogspot.com/2007/05/decapitation-mariachies.html - 69k - Posted by: Allan S. on May 26, 2007 02:11 AM Allan S. Posted by: jmac on May 26, 2007 08:40 AM Allan S., you’re idea is practical if unpalatable. Paying them $10,000.00 to go away would cost a fraction of the cost of letting them stay. It is interesting to note that our Secretary of Commerce (Carlos M. Gutierrez) thinks we are lucky that immigrants are coming here for free. With regard to your “Iraq-like bloodbath”, I fear that you are being far to optimistic. If you want a better model for what might be coming, look at Europe and Asia during World War II. Posted by: Gail Roma on May 26, 2007 10:58 AM If George Bush were in a sinking boat, he'd pour more water in before plugging the holes. Posted by: June on May 27, 2007 08:45 AM You are right. My son is in high tech (grad school) and most of the grad students are foreign nationals. Why aren't we educating American students? Is it because Univ. want to grab foreign tuition dollars? Posted by: arthur on May 27, 2007 10:21 PM I really want to make a point I have not seen in any comments recently. The illegal aliens coming from everywhere at this point include nice people. Some of the best are from Mexico too. But the fact is, a whole bunch of those people are swindling criminal rats. Crime in this country is so much easier. If you are caught, you get three hots and a cot, and you learn how to be an American Citizen in the joint. We are not... we are not dealing with a whole bunch of warm puppy dogs. They include killers, murders, rapest, child molesters and a whole lot of ugly. I do not want amnesty under any concieviable circumstance. We have no idea who is here, and while those dolts in Washington live behind security gates, the people in the whole of the country live in homes that are wide open to those ugly things. Please. Fight for absolutely no amnesty. Another point. Those illegal aliens have stolen a huge amount of money from us compliments of George Bush and a sympathetic Democratic Congress. We aren't going to get those hospitals back, or the social services, or a great deal they have stolen. Somehow or another, we need to make sure Washington does NOT do this to us again. Posted by: ohwellII on May 28, 2007 01:26 AM Yes, I have been to Mexico, and am quite familiar with the circumstances described. I like "jmac's" suggestion, ... except maybe if they try to sneak back, we should [FAIR edit]. (NO, I'm just being punchy). And june, good parallel. Posted by: Diane on May 28, 2007 02:10 PM I'VE BEEN POSTING HERE FOR SEVERAL YEARS,
The KEY to it is (DON'T LAUGH) is selling a weekly All illegal aliens will be declared guilty of an Now, lets look at the METRO PASS function. With 20,000,000 people paying $35 dollars per We can also use the money as an incentive for The rationale is exactly like a valid licence plate, handicap plaquard, or a WEEKLY METRO PASS. All they have to do is buy one weekly, and we take them TEMPORARILY out of the ARREST game. Now we will only have to process those that fail to buy the cards. That failure is a crime in itself. US legal residents can show their regular ID, or a new tamper-proof version. It is very practical, and FRANKLY impersonal, like a DAY PASS on the PARIS, or LONDON METRO! It is time that we try
Posted by: Allan S. on May 28, 2007 03:52 PM Allen S. I like the drift of your thinking as to using their own resources against them. Blue Eyed Devil, your idea is brilliant. I cannot, however, buy into the idea of letting illegal aliens with anchor babies get a pass. It’s like being behind by a towndown and kicking a field goal. We lose.
