Miami Civil Rights Activist Star of New Immigration Reform Ad
"T. Willard Fair, an ally of former Gov. Jeb Bush, is the new face of opposition
to proposals like one championed by President Bush to allow undocumented immigrants to gain citizenship. Fair, president of the Urban League of Greater Miami, is appearing in ads in The Washington Post and RollCall, a Capitol Hill newspaper, saying that 'to black Americans, amnesty is an immoral seizure of our jobs,'" the Miami Herald reports.
"The ads are sponsored by the Coalition for the Future American Worker. Its members include the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which wants to beef up border security, end illegal immigration and cut legal immigration in half. 'I see illegal immigration and the adverse impact that it has on the political empowerment of African Americans, and the impact it has on the job market,' Fair, a political independent, said in a telephone interview with The Miami Herald."

Ok it's great to see someone step up and speak out. But why does it have to say a "slap in the face to BLACK AMERICANS?" How about the rest of us AMERICANS? Why is it the Black Americans always feel things are an attack on them? Oh wait, can I say Black Americans? I'm white so it might not be ok for me to say that. I must say African Americans. Sorry. I would hate to be considered racist. You get my drift? It affects all of us Americans. White, Native American, Black (oop's African American), Asian, Hispanic (legal) and any other race that lives and works legally in our country. Slap, slap, slap....
Why do African Americans cry racist when all they do is promote nothing but Black this or Black that? Huh? Stop the Racism promted by the African american culture. Lets see them practice what they try to preach. Equality, stopping racism, etc.... Enough already.
Pete. Can you imagine what uproar would occur if we decided to make, say March, White History Month? How about the United Caucasian College Fund? Miss White America? etc, etc.
Pete,
Your reaction is puzzling to me. One could make the argument that illegal immigration disproportionately affects blacks because illegal immigrants take more of the jobs that blacks would tend to get otherwise. In this sense it is a slap in the face to blacks. It is a slap in the face to all of us in the sense that illegal immigration adversely affects most of us and that politicians want to ignore the will of the majority, but there is a specific issue pertaining to blacks that is being emphasized in the article.
"Amnesty for illegal workers is not just a slap in the face to Americans. It's an economic disaster."
There, that's better!
THANK YOU FAIRUS.ORG FOR THIS CLEAR AND NEEDED ETHNIC EMPHASIS
Now its time for BOTH Rev. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to also join up with FAIRUS.ORG and start protesting the degradation of African American salaries due to ILLEGAL (and legal) IMMIGRATION OVERPOPULATION in America!!!!
If I don't see you two in the FAIRUS.ORG lime light soon, you're both complete African American phonies and a complete disgrace to your ethnic group.
GOOD FOR THIS GUY... BUT WHERE IS THE RACE HUSTLERS, JESSIE AND SHARPTON?
Miami will be the next Caleeeforneeia, when Castro dies unless his brother Raoul stands firm. Get ready folks, it's coming. Bad economics and more arrogance as they take over our country.
You know, Born American, some of these people really are arrogant. That has been my honest experience with many of them. It's truly weird, that coming here illegally, so many of these people feel so empowered. Bush and the RINO Republicans[Jeff Flake,(amnesty moron) to name one disaster, he should be selling cars, or something] can definitely be blamed, as well as ALL, I repeat ALL of the Democrats. If only 25% of the democrats would support the fight against illegal immigration, the whole issue would turn in favor of the American taxpayer. Duh, like maybe it should.
Its obvious that black leadership should have been all over the illegal alien issue long ago. The first and hardest economic impact of the presence of illegals is the absorbtion of low wage jobs (and driving those wages even lower) that otherwise would be available to American citizens at the job-entry level - a large number of whom are black.
American Me asks "where...[are] Jessie and Sharpton?" on the illegal immigration issue. The answer is they are now both loyal corporate establishment employees, who maintain their "leadership" roles, and the free corporate TV exposure required to keep those "roles," by avoiding the issue altogether (for obvious core constituency political reasons) or very faintly and vaguely mouthing Bush amnesty euphemisms in response to the issue.
Gary, the sad truth about many blacks is that their number one priority is to "get whitey". I have heard many black people who are against illegal immigration say this themselves. They no their "leaders"use racism (no!) to bring bad feelings to many blacks because of past wrongs. It really is too bad, because it's poor, hardworking, black and white people who are being affected the most. Divide an conquer, is a sick strategy used by the race hustlers of all types, and they are geniuses at using it.
First thing here is for generations the government has kept black and white Americans in distrust of each other, this push has come from both sides Sharpton and Jackson promote this type of racist activity, they are scared if the black and whites come togeather they would lose control. You will NEVER hear them suggest that just maybe we should band togeather as Ameircans and put the past behind us.
I know the Democrats THINK they are winning the Presidental election in 08 but they won't, however, I am one who doesn't feel the Republicans are the party either. Both parties are clones of each other, I would like to see Tom Trancado run as an Independant.
Hal K is right!
As a black man, I applaud loudly the efforts of T. Willard Fair, FAIR and NumbersUSA to wake up Americans. Also, I have donated money to help defray the cost of running the ads and regularly contribute to FAIR and Numbers! Perhaps the ads will be changed presently to be more inclusive of all Americans; I hope so! I
Bobby,
I guarantee you the number of black folks who want to do what you described in your first sentence is very, very small. The overwhelming majority of us want to coexist peacefully and enjoy the same good things of out life that whites, Asians, Hispanics, etc., want! We want nothing more, nothing less! We are not out to get you or anyone else. When it comes to immigration, we, like you, just want to preserve OUR country not only for the present, but for future generations of Americans!
Many blacks have deep religious-based beliefs that make them feel that we should embrace illegals! I, for one, and many like me, however, are not deceived by attempts to make us feel guilty for not exercising more Christian-like behavior toward illegals. I have empathy to some extent, but I'm no fool about the objectives of the illegals and their handlers. I want to see their numbers dimished to the point whereby marches like yesterday's do not occur because they've returned to their own countries. I may be viewed as mean-spirited, but I am only interested in the welfare of the American people!
Finally, I read recently where Dubya wants "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" to be his legacy as a compassionate conservative. I have never in my life heard such a crock of nonsense. Where is his compassion for over 25 million Americans who live in poverty and for whom each day is a struggle to just barely survive?
When I first saw the phrase "immigration reform" in the article's title, I thought it meant that he was a whore for the open borders nuts. Because, let's face it, the Orwellians have sewn up the use of the phrase "immigration reform" - especially of the "comprehensive" kind - as a synonym for amnesty and open borders.
Retired One, it's true. When will the Bush administration get around to really helping New Orleans, a place I visited from California, in 1976, the bicenntenial of America. He can spend America into oblivion helping the rest of the world.
Thanks for giving me another angle on my comment. All the best, Robert
