Los Angeles Faces Challenge to Special Order 40

Ordinance Prohibits Local Cooperation with DHS

"The Los Angeles Police Department's landmark Special Order 40, which prohibits officers from inquiring about the immigration status of suspects, has come under an aggressive assault by anti-illegal immigrant activists who argue that it ties the hands of police. The nearly 30-year-old policy has long been controversial, but the current national debate about illegal immigration has prompted lawsuits that are aimed at overturning Special Order 40 and similar rules across the country," the LA Times reports. "The latest challenge would come this week, with a lawsuit that would ask a judge to require that the LAPD inform federal immigration officials when illegal immigrants are arrested on drug charges. The suit, which is endorsed by the Federal Immigration Reform Enforcement Coalition and is scheduled to be filed as early as today, cites an obscure state code that appears to require local police to report to federal authorities the names of any illegal immigrant arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking or possession."

It would make my year if we can get rid of things like Special Order 40. If I have to follow the law so should everyone else including the police and illegal aliens.

ANOTHER REVISION TO THE BLOGS ABOVE

I tried again to find a good big city in America with overall low crime.

Help me bloggers, I couldn't find one [crime was spiked in at least one catagory in any big city], so scratch Chicago as an option.

Maybe theis best place in America is in a RV out in the middle of nowhere?

Overpopulation Immigration in America is destroying ALL our big city crime rates!!!

I think you hit on it Softwarengineer. The middle of nowhere in a nice big modern trailer. Some desert areas in California and Nevada, Arizona are really beautiful, but you have to like two things, the wind, sometimes, and extreme heat in the summer months.

Of course Mayor LaRaza is a proponent of Special Order 40. How else can he keep his cronies together with him? He needs to be sued for failure to follow a sworn oath of office.

As for the Equal Protection clause in OUR constitution. I don't believe it pertains or applies to non-citizens. They have their laws in their country which do not apply in ours and we have our laws which they believe apply to them but don't.

Let them go home totheir country (and take Mayor LaRaza and Chief Bratton with them) and reform their thug governments. Let's see how far they get.

Villaragossa and his little sycophant police chief, Bratton, are more worried about illegal aliens rights, even gang members, than the people in the communities they are supposed to be serving. But, remember there is always another side to the coin, if this murder and mayhem, isn't causing the people in these communities to call for Villaragossa and Brattons replacements, well than they will suffer and suffer for it.

SPEICIAL ORDER 40 IS A DISGRACE TO L.A.P.D.
and to that oh,so sleeazy dump of a city that I had to abandon a few years back, to the invaders. I once saw 3000 looters, all Central American, not blacks, haul away everything in the Santa Monica Blvd. Hollywood area Sears store, during the Latino OPERTUNISTIC co-riot, sparked by the Rodney King beating, but having almost no blacks looting or burning in Hollywood. I saw, Apollo 11 launch, with my own young eyes,in 1969 from the closest journalist positions, but the sight of most of Hollywood Blvd, going up in Latino started fires, was the single most dramatic thing I will ever see. Reality imitating a Hollywood disaster film! And on a much grander scale! What a crying shame, the decline and fall of the "City of Angles" represents to America.

These days, LA is a part of America on maps only.
It's become the Mexican gang capital of the world, overrun by latino punks, drugs, and vanishing under layers of vile grafitti.

- The perfect vacation spot for bums and masochists.

L.A. IS A CRIME INFESTED ILLEGAL ALIEN GANG CESS-POOL!

Posted by: American Me on April 12, 2007 04:38 PM

Both Allen and Gary are right unforunately about Los Angeles. I was very close to the 92 riots. Everything Allen said is true. There were also over 50 mostly unsolved murders. The police watched in cars as people were beaten, some almost killed. Special order 40 is all about politics. The Latino mayor Villaragossa and others, many in the city council know that if it was removed, all types of criminal illegals from Mexico could be deported. This is why they allow it to remain and are even fighting with city resources a lawsuit filed to remove it. You see, it's all about race. They would rather the killing and drug selling and crime continue in Los Angeles, rather than remove the criminals to Mexico that the cops keep arresting, over and over, because it's, their people. If illegal immigration isn't stopped, the U.S. will collapse. There are thousands of journalists and people who study this issue, who know this is true.

Congressman Tancredo-2008- President, sending this man a few bucks a week, and spreading the word, is the best spendt time and money any American who cares could ever make. Where'as suppporting the Estanblishment Politicians, is supporting illegal immigration. This isn't rocket science, as people always say. Team Tancredo.org
