Senate Agrees to Sanctions on Illegal Employers as Part of Minimum Wage Bill
"Business lobbyists believe lawmakers will ultimately strip from Senate
minimum wage legislation any sanctions against companies caught hiring illegal immigrants. Whether they can keep it out of immigration law is another matter. The Senate, by a 94-0 vote Thursday, inserted a federal contracting ban for businesses that violate immigration laws into a bill that would raise the federal floor on hourly pay from $5.15 to $7.25 over two years," the AP reported. "Under the provision, offered by Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., companies caught hiring illegal workers while on a federal contract would be banned from government work for 10 years. Other companies discovered with illegal workers would be prohibited from getting federal contracts for seven years."

I don't know what it is, but Senator Jeff Sessions from Alabama, along with Dana Rohrbacher in Califronia, and Tancredo in Colorado, along with a few others, have been bright stars in this illegal immigration debate. These people are true patriots, in comparison to BS artists and liers, like Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstien, Sam whatever the clowns name is in Kansas, John Kerry, Trent Lott--and hundreds of other phonies.
BEST NEWS ALL WEEK
Ya got illegal aliens, kiss your federal contract good-bye!!!
It won’t help. Once amnesty is declared, there won’t be any “Illegal” aliens. They will all be legalized.
Enforcement is a different issue. We will see what happens in conference.
The businesses that have government loans and are hiring illegal labor should be notified, and shut down if they refuse to fire the illegals. My tax dollars do not go to hire illegal aliens. This president has shown to be non-competent in implementing rules running our country and it is time for the people to take it back.
I don't think the restriction goes far enough. What about all the other companies hiring illegals? Fine them all, heavily!!!
I agree, Ella, and don't see why they stopped at companies with government contracts. This should apply to ALL businesses. Of cours, maybe Gail Roma is right on the money, on this one.
Jeff Sessions is a NATIONAL TREASURE! I would like to see him run for VP with Tancredo. He is the only one who read that disgusting Senate bill Kennedy and McCain were trying to shove down our throats last year. The rest of them don't even bother to find out what they are voting on. They are one pathetic bunch for the most part save for a few with Amrican common Sense!
Just a shell game...
1. So all other businesses can hire with no penalty?
2. Once they legalize them, they will not be illegal, so like I said... shell game.
Isn't it great that the only way the feds can get anything passed these days is to push other issues onto measures to make them more palatable to one party or the other.
What a farce!
They are less concerned with doing what is right than they are with simply getting a bill passed...be it wrong, unscrupulous or otherwise!
Makes me sick.
The Democrats recently destroyed Senator Jeff Sessions proposal to dramatically increase fines on employers who hire illegal aliens.
Well, I guess this is the beginning of the Democrats idea of what they think is rewarding American citizens-- allowing big companies to get away with corporate welfare paid for by Americans. Who said the Republicans are the party of big business?
Jeff Sessions is MY Senator, and I could not be MORE proud of his stand in defense of AMERICA! It is ironic that he was once appointed for a position as a Federal judge, but ole Chappaquidick Teddy Kennedy killed his nomination. NOW Sessions is on the Senate Judiciary Committee with Kennedy and NEVER misses a chance to take a shot @ him. Sessions is a TRUE American patriot, while Kennedy ranks right @ the top with McCain as an American traitor.
HOW! about lock them UP! The RAT/TRAITORS deserve it!
Pro Patria!
Agree, Beckyal. We'll see. Congress can write all the laws they want, but they aren't worth the paper they're printed on without enforcement.
