Amnesty Cost Would Top $60 Billion A Year
If an illegal alien amnesty and guest worker program similar to the one being contemplated by the United States Senate and supported by President Bush were enacted, the cost burden to state and local governments would be staggering, projects an analysis by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). FAIR estimates that state and local costs associated with illegal immigration for public education, health care and incarceration, now about $36 billion a year, would balloon to $61.5 billion by 2010 a 70 percent increase and increase to $106.3 billion by 2020. “From every possible angle, an illegal alien amnesty and guest worker program would be a fiscal and administrative nightmare,” said Dan Stein, president of FAIR. “Never mind the fact that an illegal alien amnesty is a moral betrayal of the American public and immigrants who played by the rules. It would be an unfunded federal mandate that will bankrupt states, counties and cities all across the United States.” Comments
Just think. All those increasing billions could provide a national healthcare system to American citizens, particularly our working poor. Posted by: Born American on April 17, 2006 01:52 PM What's another $60 billion to an already bankrupt country? The costs of illegals are staggering and keep rising and legal American taxpayers are both footing the bill and getting the shaft! Are they included in the $60 Billion cost? Posted by: Smitty on April 17, 2006 02:15 PM 60 Billion From tax payers, not big-business-slave-labor profiteers. Some of you looser that keep voting for the Democrats or big business Republicans, will soon become part of the cheap-labor labor pool. Posted by: Some Mexican on April 17, 2006 02:58 PM This is the thing that pisses me off the most. How can they possibly consider giving amnesty without doing studies on what the long term cost would be as well as studies on population growth, culture and social impacts. Brian Posted by: Brian on April 17, 2006 04:23 PM Due to the complicity of the main stream media in helping illegal immigration to thrive, it is important that college students, young people, middle aged people, [40-75] late middle aged people[75-90] and elderly people, and anyone at any age, who is computer literate, alert those who are'nt. Yes, tell grandpa, grandma, your cousin, sister, brother, friends, ranyone, who does'nt want to live in China. In other words, in a country that has billions of people. I will say this of China however, they do respect and are required to follow the laws of the country. This last fact alone, is reason enough why most of our elected representatives should be voted out of office and then tried for criminally neglecting the laws they were sworn to uphold. Isn't that what criminals do? Neglect the law. Get the word out on information you get from the net, Stein report, etc. Concerned people who are not computer literate deserve more, than to be misinformed by the conniving main stream media. The light of truth is a good disinfectant to all their half truths, one sided stories, in other words LIES. Posted by: Bobby on April 17, 2006 04:42 PM There are (2) Illegal Aliens were I work that have 17 sons and daughters and 16 sons and daughters. Some of these are grown and have their own children. Under the Senate propoal, they can come to the U.S. and be guestworkers too? Talk about your bullshit, while our men die in combat, Mexico's men manipulate our democracy to steal their jobs. Our liberals will be voted out of office in November, bet on it. America was formed and made great 10 yeards at a time, with brave men dying for it, every 10 yards. Of course the govt. of Mexico gave us the bird when we asked them to help. They just want to exploit the results. Hide in a trunk, march in a parade for all of your rights, right Pedro. Posted by: Patriot-L on April 17, 2006 06:11 PM I sent this article and the one about reps stopping law enforcement of illegals to my Senators, REP, and the President.... Congress.org. We have only this week left to FULLY express our views REPEATEDLY before congress/senate reconvenes next Monday. I am in Japan (Navy), but it does not stop me from filling their inboxes... 3 or 4 times a week with faxes and emails. I sometimes get frustrated, but I realize we need to really push this issue. I only wish that LAW ABIDING Americans would muster up the strength to march in the streets also, but alas... I am not sure we will do that. We really need to SECURE THE BORDERS FIRST! Posted by: Greg on April 17, 2006 09:11 PM This discussion is very necessary. We have a universalist outlook that sees all people as the same and endowed with rights. Well some people have more kids and less health. That is not racist, that is a cultural distinction. It is not the amount of people but their "lifestyles" that make them a drain. Furthermore, rights and our democracy can only thrive if the infrastructure can support it. You have no right to be here illegally just as I have no right to your breakfast. Rights are part of a culture that has earned them. People will say that making distinctions between populations is racist and it denies universal humanity and rights. Well it is culturist. That word indicates that diversity exists and is important. There are cultures, not universal humanity. And rights are bound to the cultures that create them. I have written a book called culturism that talks about the sorts of issues this blog does. I am a candidate to be on a tv show where I publicize these issues. Please vote for me to get this views on tv @ www.bookmillionaire.com Thanks, John Press Posted by: John Press on April 17, 2006 10:16 PM There is only ONE way to insulate yourself from the rapidly deteriorating fiscal position of the US dollar: Buy gold & silver, especially silver. Those who don't, will lose everything. Silver up 50% in less than month! It is rapidly racing away from you... Posted by: Shelby Moore on April 18, 2006 12:14 AM Yeah, I totally agree with Brian. They always study the costs of other legislation, but this amnesty, they haven't even looked at what this would cost. Of course they don't want to go there because the costs would be outrageous and it would be hard to justify. So they just ignore it as if there would be no cost. And like Brian said what would also be the other impacts on the country, such as population explosion, education, health care, etc. Posted by: DG on April 18, 2006 02:54 AM Bobby, if someone isn't convinced after informing them as you say, try bringing them to an 'ethnic' storefront of the local illegal population. Where I live, this means a Brazilian store. Walk in and see the kind of reception you get. It's just a little sample of what these 'undocumented workers' really think about Americans. Stray fact? Random fact? I dont know. I do know that these above figures are good to have firmly in your head along with their source when talking to 'your' representatives. I hate to keep repeating myself but I just cant help but wonder [out loud] How is it possible that such well educated persons in Washington can make such momentous decisions without ANY APPARENT CONCERN, OR EVEN DISCUSSION of these very important facts. Posted by: FornaxUltor on April 18, 2006 11:33 AM I wonder if some patriot out there would please contact the VFW in their town and ask them to vote on the amnesty proposal by John McCain, or whatever he's calling it. After you vote, contact the local paper and inform them that your VFW post has voted and IS NOT supporting John McCain's proposal or, any of his presidential aspirations. I would do it, but my liabilities are on the farm and my assets at the cafe. I will do it at my post, please do it at yours. It would be cheap but effective advertising. For a man that used to have my respect, I think, he's a turncoat. I change my tv channel everytime he comes on, and frankly if it's suppertime, he ruins my appetite. There are some areas where the Moose Lodge, and other citizen of the U.S. lodges, Lyon's Club, etc. have the respect of the local people and they deserve to have their opinion listed in the home town newspaper too. He could even be headlined as the Crabgrass of the Garden Club. Posted by: Patriot-L on April 18, 2006 12:13 PM C'mon fellow patriotic Americans, we need to keep pressure on the turncoat politicians advocating amnesty. Fill their email inbox, burn up their fax machines, jam their phone lines letting these traitors that we, the patriotic American tax payers aren't footing the bill. In fact, I propose that patriotic Americans organize a united campaign to demand tax refunds for the direct and collateral damages caused by the illegal invasion that tax paying American citizens have been forced to bear for two decades. My logic and plan are as follows: 1. Over the past two decades, an estimated 11 to 20 million illegal aliens have flooded our nation. 2. Over the past two decades tons and tons of illicit drugs have come across our borders. Foreign drug cartels and corrupt foreign governments have been the primary perpetrators of these actions. 3. Over the past two decades, thousands upon thousands of criminals have come across our borders and resided among us. 4. Over the past two decades, terrorists have come across our borders and set up covert operations designed to harm our citizens. 5. All of the above has occurred over the past two decades due to widespread dereliction of duty by our national leaders and politicians sworn by oath to uphold our laws. 6. We, the law abiding and tax paying American citizens of the USA, have borne the costs and damages that have arisen as a result of the events and circumstances outlined above. a) Governmental services consumed by illegal aliens including but not limited to, welfare programs, medical care, education. b) The direct and indirect costs associated with drug addiction, which include but are not limited to, law enforcement, judicial functions, incarceration, government sponsored addiction treatment programs, and the destruction of millions of lives and families. c) The direct and indirect costs associated with criminal activities committed by illegal aliens, which include but are not limited to, law enforcement, judicial functions, incarceration, and the physical and emotional suffering inflicted upon crime victims. d) The direct and indirect costs associated with terrorist activities committed in the USA , which include but are not limited to, law enforcement, judicial functions, incarceration, and the physical and emotional suffering inflicted upon terrorism victims. 7. Consequently, Americans should be compensated for the above harms that have been inflicted upon them. 8. An accounting of the above damages should be undertaken by citizen led civil action groups and the American taxpayers provided either tax rebates or tax amnesty to rectify the wrongs inflicted upon us due to the direct result of our politicians' blatant dereliction of duty. These rebates or amnesty terms would be due immediately and amortizable over a maximum period of five years. I'd like freebies too, but I was taught right from wrong. Many illegals are driving SUV's. Gas @ $3/gal, you ask yourself, how can they afford that? I agree, our government are spineless traitors.
