S.F. Mayor Promises to Violate Federal Law Against Illegal Immigration

"Mayor Gavin Newsom said Thursday that The City will not comply with any federal legislation that criminalizes efforts to help illegal immigrants. The mayor also denounced a bipartisan congressional proposal that would beef up border security and allow as many as 12 million illegal immigrants to gain legal status," the San Francisco Bay Examiner reports. "Newsom, who has not been afraid to wade into controversial national issues such as gay marriage, appeared with a group of elected officials on the steps of City Hall to support immigrants, 'documented as well as [illegal].' Newsom also signed a resolution sponsored by Supervisor Gerardo Sandoval, and passed unanimously by the Board of Supervisors, urging San Francisco law enforcement not to comply with criminal provisions of any new immigration bill."

This sounds like open revolt to me. This is what I meant when I said that we were sliding toward civil war. One step closer!

GO, GAVIN!!!

Doesn't anybody here remember what wonders Mayor Newsom's intransigence worked for conservatives on the gay marriage debate?

He's the leftist politician that keeps on giving.

This just in: According to the PEW Hispanic center, only 3% of the “unauthorized” workers in this country are employed in agriculture. Another myth busted!

Pompous A$$! Another official who thinks he's above the law and the wishes of the majority of the American people.
Of course in SF, home of Stupid Freaks, one can only imagine what they want.
I hope we get a strick law passed, with strong border security and law enforcement against illegals.
Then, if immigration lawyers and idiots like Newsom want to be difiant, well, I have no problem seeing them thrown in jail to rot there.
The intelligent people of SF should recall this hotdog. They can't afford this ridiculousness.

This is the kind of guy I'd like to debate. If a government official can disregard any law they don't like, would said government official also allow others to disregard other laws that THEY don't like? If someone disregarded their property tax, for instance, would Mayor Newsom allow it? If not, how would he prevent it? By citing the law?

San Francisco is a showcase city for every kind of idiocy politicians are willing to serve.

Another reason to replace Mr. Newsom as mayor...

Any city, county or state that refuses to comply with federal law should have all federal funding suspended!

Too bad, so sad...
NO TO AMNESTY, YES TO ENFORCEMENT AND SECURITY

You're the pathetic one, Whiteram.
If the gays were born here, are good people, and aren't breaking any laws, then they're many cuts above the illegals, regardless of their sexual orientation.

Talk about your slavery issue. The San Fran area is so expensive that only Mexicans will do yard work, living 15 to 20 in an apartment. Of course he and his friends don't want to mow their own yard and don't want to pay $ 200.oo to someone to do it. You ever mow a lawn that is 1/2 uphill sixty degrees? These people from Mexico are ruining the country but put that aside and we want them to mow our lawn, right Gavin? The greed and the laziness of our politicians is going to ruin our country.
