L.A. Students Stage Walk-Out, Teachers and Administrators Join-In "Tens of thousands of students have walked out of schools in California and other states Monday, waving [Mexican] flags and wearing white shirts Update 3/28: Michelle Malkin has posted the letter sent to LAUSD parents informing them that the schools "will provide buses to return students to schools when appropriate." Comments
Too bad they didn't keep walking right back to Mexico, and take their stupid teachers and administrators with them! Posted by: Born American on March 27, 2006 06:29 PM These people are embarassing Americans of mexican descent, like myself. Most of these protestors are kids who don't even know the contents of this bill. Their teachers are feeding them a bunch of lies. Obviously alot of these people don't even like this country because they're waving another country's flag. Posted by: Ron Ramirez on March 27, 2006 06:45 PM Sooner or later, they all walk out anyway. The drop out rate of raza is mind boggling. Upwards of 60% if I remember right. So it is that we legitimate Americans subsidize failure of catastrophic proportions. A little bit of number crunching could produce the cost of bringing Lupita and Flaco to 9th or 10th grade, where they bail out and fester as an open sore on our society. The damage to the fabric of our society, is of course incalculable. Posted by: FornaxUltor on March 27, 2006 06:59 PM Hardly any of them were carrying an american flag. To bad there wasnt a soccer match between the U.S. and Mexico they all would have been there or glued to their televisions with their Mexican flags. There is only room for one flag in this country. If they love their flag so much then what are they doing here other than driving down wages and increasing the burden on social services. Proud Americans Unite. Posted by: Anthony on March 27, 2006 07:44 PM As several of us have said before, the American people can put enormous hurt into the bottom lines of business, and sure enough, now there's a consumer boycott coming on April 17th. It's a good idea, and it should be targeted at those businesses that hire illegals. Also, Americans need to stop buying new houses. With job prospects where they are with this regime in power, why take on a 30-year mortgage, anyway? And by all means, feel free to declare bankruptcy if unemployed. Posted by: FCannon on March 27, 2006 08:24 PM This is not a time to spend frivolously or make big purchases, if possible. It's a time to save money and batten down the hatches for hard times ahead, especially if we have 30 million or more people on the way without enough infrastructure or jobs. Posted by: FCannon on March 27, 2006 09:10 PM Does anyone have more information on this April 17th demonstration? Posted by: Born American on March 27, 2006 10:37 PM Caesar Chavez did not approve of illegal immigration, so those who used this day as an excuse to glorify their illegality, are just plain clueless about what he was about. He worried that illegals drove down wages for those, who were in the country legally. He instructed the union members to call the INS to report the presence of illegals and demand their deportation. UFW officials frequently picketed INS offices to demand a crackdown on illegals. In 1973, Chavez set up a "wet line" to try to prevent Mexican illegals from entering the US. His cousin, Manuel, was the leader. When they couldn't verbally dissuade the illegals from entering, Caesar Chavez and his followers attacked them physically. So, it is interesting they would "mark" a day for this male, who would have wasted no time in beating the crap out of them. Foreigners who are in this country illegally should not receive any entitlements. Illegal is illegal. I was very offended by the Mayor of LA, whose statements, that they were not illegal, were just plain ignorant of the law and of the truth. How in the world was he the best candidate for this office? I remember his inaguration speech, when he stated he would be the mayor for everyone in the city. Well, his continuation of the sanctuary policies and his statements today more than shows he is a liar--he supports, aids and abets, and encourages those who are in this country illegally. He was sworn into his office and willingly swore to uphold the laws of the land and he isn't. If you live in LA, contact the mayor's office and state your disapproval of his words and actions. Do so, too, if you reside in any other sanctuary city. These enclaves put all of us in danger. Posted by: jaded on March 28, 2006 01:22 AM Every one of the teachers and administrators who joined this illegal activity should be fired! This is the United States of America, we live by laws and every one of the illegals in this country has now created a rift that may never subside...I predict the division is strong enough we will begin seeing violence and it's not going to be pretty! Posted by: takn on March 28, 2006 02:32 AM Yep... keep walking south! Posted by: Greg on March 28, 2006 02:44 AM If in the end all of this B.S. passes, clearly the Republicans are not for the american people. Posted by: mike on March 28, 2006 03:43 AM Big deal. Most of the students who walked out were no doubt Hispanic, and statistics (dropout rate, leaving test failure rate, etc) show they aren't learning much anyway. Typically childish MSM nonsense -- giving weight to this sort of callow nonsense from children. Posted by: eh on March 28, 2006 04:35 AM It is ridiculous to even be debating whether illegal immigration is accepatable. No country can survive in the face of such stupidity. I can't believe we are seeing such enormous idiocy by the Congress. See this article by Niranjan Ramakrishnan, where he makes the point that amnesty seems to be the order of the day. http://njn-blogogram.blogspot.com/2006/03/pardona-me.html Posted by: rob mason on March 28, 2006 06:36 AM I hope the Stein Report can get some follow-up on this. I am interested in what 'rules' L.A. has addressing walking out of school, and if these 'rules' will apply to this walkout, or if someone is going to make up some special exemption to apply retroactively. My money is on the latter. Posted by: Bill Dexter on March 28, 2006 07:42 AM The Mexicans certainly aren't shy about banding together and planning protests. Apparently they realize that there is no danger of being deported. As around 500,000 of them clogged L.A. streets on Saturday it is a shame that it was impossible to arrest and deport any of them. So, now I ask why American citizens are not willing to take to the streets by the hundreds of thousands to demand that American law be enforced? What about the welfare offices that are handing out welfare benefits, which are supposed to be there for American citizens in times of need, to people who have NO legal claim to those benefits? What will it take to make American citizens band together the way the Mexicans do? Mexicans are allowed to illegally come across the border and find medical clinics and hospitals to have their babies and operations in, all at the expense of the American taxpayer, so why then can't American doctors deny them treatment? The illegals are bound and determined to stay in the U.S. they aren't afraid to demonstrate to get what they want. This time it was peaceful, but if they have to riot, they will riot. If they have to kill some of the hated gringos, they will kill gringos. They truly believe that the land was stolen from them. Hard to imagine that they could actually believe that, but they have convinced themselves. Mexico is a rich enough country (it isn't our fault that their government is corrupt) and many of those people coming over the border are in no danger of starving in their homeland, they just want more. If all this doesn't make millions of Americans angry enough to take to the streets then nothing will. Posted by: Shannon on March 28, 2006 08:33 AM Just when you think you've seen it all. Where is the board of education on this. Why are they not firing a few teachers to make examples out of them. This kind of behavior from teachers should not be accepted. Parents who are American Citizens should be demanding the school board do something about this. Brian Posted by: Brian on March 28, 2006 11:54 AM "These people are embarassing Americans of mexican descent, like myself." Ron Ramirez, as an American of Anglo descent, I also feel deeply ashamed of my cowardly and myopic Anglo establishment, which is rewarding lawlessness and driving this hemisphere into more poverty, rather than thinking about what would be best for everyone. I'm relieved when I hear from you, because I know that when we peel under the layers of those among us who have selfish agendas, there are the good people, too. It's tragic that the good people did not have a say in the Senate yesterday. Posted by: FCannon on March 28, 2006 12:49 PM I know I have said this on this site many times before, but as an educator who saw these students (children of illegals) and their behavior in school (very little different from what you witnessed OUTSIDE the school!), I quickly began to be overcome with sorrow/dismay about what I saw occurring in educational institutions--many of which had been "top of the line" schools before the massive, surprise influx of illegal alien students whose parents are following the construction work up and down the major highways here in Texas. It was this type of scene (seen daily in the educational institutions where they have increased in enough numbers) that alarmed me and pushed me into activism regarding illegal immigration. I believe that their behaviors are as I described. Remember: these are NOT Mexican-Americans. They are MEXICANS/CENTRAL-AMERICANS. They are either illegal themselves or the first line of anchor babies (see what you have to look forward to?) and their presence is a drain on the teachers and administrators--with a few exceptions. They cause everyone in the school with the exception of the isolated "gifted and talented" classes to loose their educational opportunity. It is horrifying to see. Posted by: J on March 28, 2006 04:49 PM Shannon. I hope everyone reads your post, because you state the truth so eloquently. Posted by: Born American on March 28, 2006 05:04 PM To Shannon, If you get a chance, check out what Georgia has done with their SB529: http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2005_06/sum/sb529.htm It does have some excellent points that should be adopted by the other 49 states: verification of employment, no benefits to illegals, checking nationality of felons being put in jail and some other points. One thing about the marchers is that it is gaining in causing a national outcry of those who may otherwise not know or care. Posted by: Sick 'n Tired on March 28, 2006 05:48 PM Welcome to Los Angeles, Mexico! Home of the anchor babies. Yet another great example of culture following race. Throwing rocks at our police officers, running wild on our freeways and causing major traffic tie-ups; however, they are VERY ADEPT at climbing fences! The acorns do not fall far from the trees. LOOKS LIKE CALIFORNIA WILL NEED A LOT MORE PRISONS IN THE NEAR FUTURE! 'JADED'...Thanks for bring up the fact that Cesar Chavez was anti-illegal immigration. I too found it more than surprising that these kids had such little knowledge of their own heritage. Cesar Chavez was an icon and a champion of the rights of millions of farm workers. He fought relentlessly to keep the illegals out and the wages of the farmworkers - up. Re Antonio Villaraigosa... He is trying to take over the LAUSD. I live in Los Angeles and fought vigorously to keep him out of office. He is a rabid Mechista and 100% pro illegal. To this day, he will not denounce his ties to Mecha. America needs to be aware of his unquenching thirst for power and his quest for the White House. Be very afraid of this man...He must be stopped at all costs.
Posted by: mexiphobic on March 28, 2006 07:15 PM Agreed the immigrants will keep on walking to Mexico when the opportunities they came here to exploit are no longer here. Current immigrants have been exploited by their culture/system in their country of origin, and the current batch of illegals for the most part bring the same attitude with them here to USA. I know this first-hand. It is to be expected, given that the entire paradigm for immigration is exploitive. I will tell you what will make the mainstream Anglos band together. About 2010, when 30% of them lose their jobs, by 2012 when US dollar is worth about a penny, and by 2014 when we are the depths of massive global depression where many Anglos will have a hard time finding food and shelter, that is when they will fight back and fight back brutally, just as they did in the 1930s, where 1 million Mexicans (including their anchor babies) where deported: http://www.coolpage.com/commentary/economic/shelby/Inflating%20Deflation.html The 1920s were a time of great illusionary wealth, built on top of massive debt bubble that was 290% of GDP before it crashed in Great Depression from 1930 - 1945. Well, well, well, now the debt bubble is 350% of GDP ($51 trillion) and will probably reach 580% (double the 1930 ratio) before the GREATER DEPRESSION will begin in 2010. FCannon is spot on. Now is not the last time to buy, is your last chance to sell. Sell everything you can, while you still can get a reasonable price for it. And pile it into gold and assets which can not be manipulated by debt. We all have about 1 - 2 years to sell and transistion into gold to survive the storm ahead. Those who wait until 2007 will probably be too late. Once the mad rush starts, nothing will saleable. The only thing people will want is gold. Dollars will be worthless, houses will be worth much less, etc.. It is not obvious yet. Once it is obvious, it will be tool late, because everyone will be racing to dump their worthless assets and buy some gold. At that point, it will be too late. The survivor can not wait until it is obvious. The survivor must be able to see what direction the country is headed... Posted by: Shelby Moore on March 28, 2006 08:00 PM I agree with you, EH and Sick and Tired. Posted by: Born American on March 28, 2006 10:23 PM I admire that this is a civil forum, and the refrainment from racial epithets is refreshing. But, I have to disagree with many of the comments. Many of them being anecdotal renders them useless and reflects the level to which most citizens analyze the immigration issue. Would I be wrong to suggest that there is more involved in your opinions than statistics? I am aware of the obvious "drop-out" rate; is this what your objections are based on? Maybe it's the amount of capital spent on providing services to illegal mexican immigrants, if so will your opinions change when you realize the positive economic impact that the immigrant presence has had in states like California? Posted by: Ivan on March 29, 2006 01:38 AM To Sick 'n Tired: Thanks for the Info--I will check into that. Posted by: Shannon on March 29, 2006 03:37 AM "They cause everyone in the school with the exception of the isolated "gifted and talented" classes to loose their educational opportunity." How embarrassing! I meant "lose". I blame both haste and dementia for this! Posted by: J on March 29, 2006 10:15 AM Ivan, you ask what gives one people a right to decide the fate of another? Posted by: Born American on March 29, 2006 11:19 AM A tiny ray of light... My grandaughter attends Rim of the World High School in Lake Arrowhead, CA. (a very small mountain community with a 95% white population). The teachers moniter MY SPACE every day, and Sunday nite they were alerted to a protest at the high school scheduled for Monday. They raced into action, called the Sheriff's Dept., and sure enough, at 9:00 Monday morning 20 of the illegal kids showed up under the flagpole with their crudely made signs. Well...the Sheriff's and local law enforcement showed up en masse, handcuffed the kids, and took them down the mountain to the San Bernardino Sheriff's dept. They were charged with truancy for abandoning their classes. They will have to go to a hearing and will be fined $500 for the first offense. They will not be allowed back into school unless the fine is paid. Of course, this never made the evening news! Posted by: MEXIPHOBIC on March 29, 2006 12:43 PM Ok, here goes nothing...all these posts i have read are aginst my people. I am mexican and very proud of it. All these posts that i have read are discriminating against hipanics in gegeral. So now it is time for me to discriminate against you! For all those white people that do not know a thign about history, here it goes. Native Americans were the first to live here and until your ancetors got here everything was happy. Now you come here and declare this your land? This is a free country so as long as mexico is right next door, people will still find a way to hop the border. So what i said on the march i took this monday with my peers, "Viva la Raza!!!" You crackers will never take us down because we are one united and you crackers stand alone! Posted by: ana on March 30, 2006 11:42 AM WE THE PEOPLE.... Posted by: Chris Florian on March 31, 2006 05:02 AM No Ivan, you won't hear complaints about the environment being polluted by big corporations here, not because we aren't aware of this problem, but this forum deals specifically with the problems of illegal immigration. But..since you brought it up, illegal Mexicans have trashed and polluted border states and the private properties they often squat on without permission, leaving the owner to deal with cleaning up the horrific messes they leave behind! This is just a fact that has nothing to do with racism--what is it with you? Everything has to be explained away with racism? Oh and by the way, American citizens have every right to be outraged by the brazen, disrespectful behavior of illegal aliens!
