Chicago Rally Shows Illegal Aliens Understand Congress Means Business

The best indicator of the Congressional reality with regard to the immigration debate was the large protest by illegal aliens and their supporters in Chicago. Rally organizers recognize the chances of an enforcement-only approach passing this year and are pulling out all the stops to derail that effort and get a massive guest worker amnesty passed. "Rosanna Pulido, director of the Illinois Minuteman Project, sarcastically thanked the protesters for publicizing the presence of illegal immigrants better than opponents ever could. 'I am hoping the outrage of the people of Illinois is heard through voting,' she said," according to the Chicago Tribune. "Sandra Gunn, government relations field associate for the Washington-based Federation for American Immigration Reform, said she hoped politicians would ignore the 'display of arrogance and intimidation' from protesters who she said flout immigration laws: 'It is our voices that they must heed.'"
