Taxpayer Funded Group Threatens to Picket Minutemen Kids' Schools

"Casa de Maryland, a taxpayer funded group that assists illegal immigrants, has made a public threat to the children of the grassroots Minuteman Civil Defense Corps that have made headlines since last fall monitoring day labor centers in the Washington DC area. An article published yesterday by the Sean Sands of Maryland Community Newspapers Online quoted Casa de Maryland’s Executive Director Gustavo Torres saying 'We are going to picket their houses, and the schools of their kids and go to their work. If they are going to do this to us, we are going to respond in the same way, to let people know their neighbors are extremists, that they are anti-immigrant. They are going to hear from us,'” Human Events Online reports. "In response to the threats, Minuteman Civil Defense Corps President Chris Simcox said, 'Threatening children like this is outrageous. Casa de Maryland’s funding should be pulled and its contracts cancelled. It is beyond belief that taxpayer dollars are funding this thuggish behavior.'"

Who is going to do this? Americans who help illegal aliens, illegal aliens or both? Are they going to pull permits? Who is going to issue a permit to picket a school?

Hopefully this will just shed daylight on the funding that's been going on.

This immgration issue just keeps getting stranger. Taxpayers funding a group that helps ILLEGAL immigrants? Good lord!!! More contradicitons that encourage illegal immigration.

And Chris is correct. Threatenting children is despicable. Would any of us get away with threatening to picket schools with illegal alien children? Hell no. We would be hauled off for hate speech. If this groups follows through with picketing MM homes, I would advocate picketing the groups leaders homes with signs stating they support illegal immigration and advocate non enforcement of our laws. What's good for the goose , a**hole. This is the kind of ilk that supports illegal immigration. They have no morals or American values when it comes to getting their way. They will even go after children. And this is what we have to look forward to if we do not get a handle on immigration. Values much different than those which are the building blocks of the US. I will say, they better NEVER show up at my children's school or in front of my house because there will be hell to pay for everyone. I will NOT TOLERATE threats from a bunch of low life scum bags!!!!!! Now I am getting really pissed. Bring it on you hispanic racists jackasses!!!!!!

This marks a new low for illegal immigration anarchists. Threats and intimidation targeting children...this is not the kind of behavior we want to import into our culture. Casa de Maryland is making an excellent case for its own deportation, but with Senators talking again about amnesty, apparently many of our own leaders don't care about America's children.

Well, what do you know! This must be a cultural manifestation/custom! They are doing the same thing on the borders of Texas to our Border Patrol Agents and our sheriffs. They have threatened their families there as well. I am not surprised by these tactics--few of us in Texas are.

These "family values" that bush says don't stop at the Rio Grande are, indeed, beginning to look a great deal like those of the Mafia.

Raxpayer funding of groups that help illegal aliens is pretty much the norm in today's Alice-in-Wondeland USA. the very pro-illegal alien Catholic Charities gets over two-thirds of its funding from the Feds. I'm sure groups like the National Council of La Raza and MALDEF have receives taxpayer funding along with their Ford Foundation grants and corporate money. All the big money is on the other side, all we have are the people-until such time as we are demographically replaced.

After the uprising of the 17th June
The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee
Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government
And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier
In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?

Casa de Maryland would actually be laughable, if they weren't so disgusting. Threatening children now, are we? Sorry, but your sense of entitlement and desperation is showing. How sickening. The Minutemen's response is right on the money, as usual. Pull their funding, which illegals shouldn't be receiving in the first place. Better yet, deport the thugs.

Weary Citizen said:

Of course we wouldn't. But more impotantly, we would NEVER stoop to such despicable COWARICE.

This just supports my personal theory about the "Machismo" culture.

My experience has taght me that the Mexican "Machismo" really hides a deep insecurity and cowardace. If you will notice they are very brave when they are in a big group. But you get one alone, they'll bend over backwards to agree with everything a person says. They'll never make a peep until they outnumber the opposition by at least 10 to 1.

That's why it only takes 7 minutemen to face off a big crowd of "macho" demonstrators. Our people have courage, American courage, real courage. And it doesn't matter what race they come from.

By the way, has anyone been to the minuteman blog lately? They are talking about mobilizing 6,500 volunteers along 800 miles of the border this spring. Who said Americans are not getting activated. We just do it in a way that HAS A PURPOSE AND HAS QUIET DIGNITY. We don't have to turn out in a mob to make the streets into a circus. But to defend our country in the tradition of our founding fathers, well, that's another thing.

They say that is the number of volunteers they have processed and put through the neccesary background checks. There are 120,000 more applications from those waiting for process, or who have not passed muster for Border Duty.

The entire illegal alien issue is out of hand. The funding of groups that enable or assist anyone in this country illegally is beyond stupid.
If my child or their school was picketed by these morons, I would be one of the first picketing their place of "business" (because that's what it is!), AND I would be looking at any other legal means available to make sure the government was looking into each & every employee of the group. IRS anyone? By the time the IRS gets done w/ em they'd be running to the border to go home.
The irony of all of this is that all these folks do is turn more against them. As they push, Americans become less & less flexible on immigration issues. Keep pushing & they'll end up with armed citizens helping the border agents keep em out, and going from employer to employer looking to ID all of them.!

Posted by: Rubicon on February 24, 2006 07:21 PM

How dare they?!!! Our children are not to blame or praise for the efforts of immigration reform or the illegal problem...and I suppose the police will stand aside and allow this to happen? What kind of country are we living in?

Contact Gustavo Torres at Casa de Maryland:

The pro-illegal alien lobby is getting desperate and obviously has no line they will not cross. Why should we be surpised that they would openly threaten to harass children of their political opponents? They hire/harbor/aid/abet criminals on a daily basis, this is no diffferent. People like Gustavo Torres have made themselves a little "cottage" industry out of starting these so-called "advocacy groups" which solely revolve around aiding/abetting/harboring/hiring illegal immigrants. Mr. Torres soon faces unemployment since agencies like his will no longer be allowed to operate illegal hiring halls for illegal immigrants.
Perhaps the donors of CASA would like to know that Mr. Torres and his band of goons now have publicly threatened children. Sin Verguenzas, cobardes.

Stupid. This is definitely not going to help their cause.

As I've said over and over again, if we are going to gain any rights for immigrants, then the target audience should be mainstream America, not the anti-immigrant fanatics. This move will only hurt their chances of winning the hearts of main stream America.

Fools do rush in where angels fear to tread...these folks are absolutely idiotic. All it will take is just ONE image of a frightened child/group of children and these "folks" (whose values don't stop at the Rio Grande) will find that they have rushed in too violently, too stupidly, and too far.

Don't worry about these BOZOs, a perfect economic storm is brewing which is going to shrink the tax base (and govt) to 30% of it's current level.

By 2011 or so, these BOZOs will be too busy trying to find food to eat.

While it is sad to say, I fear that these socialist groups will resort to the old sixties style of protest if we do not continue to give in to their ideas. The thing that makes this story unique is that this group is funded by TAXPAYERS! The American public would be shocked if informed of the number of racist organizations that are sponsored and funded, for the most part, exclusively out of their pockets. The most pervasive and flagrant that I know of other than the Southern Poverty Law Center, is La Raza. But, alas, our weak-kneed, yellow-bellied politicians would never, no-way, even threaten to cut their funding.

Isn't it interesting that the so-called family values this culture is supposedly known for, doesn't give a rip about the children, who have nothing to do with this issue at all. If I was a parent in this school, I would be at that school raising holy hell and at city hall doing even more than that. It is someone's First Amendment right to Free Speech that would allow them to discuss immigration issues. If this group doesn't like the concept of Free Speech, perhaps, they just need to go back to their own countries where their rights were probably violated on a regular basis. How dare they come into this country and think they have a right to dictate the Constitutionally recognized rights of US citizens to protect this nation from foreign attack if the federal government refuses to do so. ICE needs to be present with a large net and just round these idiots up.

I checked out Casa de Maryland's website, but couldn't stay on it too long, for fear of vomiting.
It's more of the same junk we see here.
"If they're going to do this to us...."
Do what???? Demand that everyone obey our laws, instead of being lawbreaking slime? Protect our citizen's rights and their jobs and wages?
We have no right to do that, do we????
These lowlives would be the same people who would scream about the injustice of it all, if they were the taxpaying citizens of this or any other country. Can you see Americans doing this in Mexico or some Latin American country?
And where are the "citizen's rights" groups and their outrage, when you need them?
Oh, I forgot, the little fascists are too busy defending everyone but American citizens.
Why the state of Maryland and our federal goverment puts up with this insanity is beyond me.
They must be morons. Funding illegals with taxpayer money. God! Idiots!
The good news is: I sold my Ford yesterday and won't be buying another one. Any small way I can protest this nonsense by our corporations, I will do. Could someone list again the corporations involved? I know the list is extensive, but I will do what I can.

CASA of MARYLAND gets public funds from Montgomery County, Maryland, and various other donors including of course the rabidly, racist group, LA RAZA. The Ford Foundation also donates. Gustavo Torres is just another goon hired by LA RAza to form pro-Mexican illegal immigrant organizations at taxpayer expense. Gustavo Torres needs to go back to Mexico.

Posted by: contessa on February 27, 2006 10:21 AM

Urge Montgomery County Maryland Officials to review their purpose in using taxpayer funds to fund CASA and employ Gustavo Torres. No taxpayer funds should be used to fund groups that aid/abet/hire/harbor/assist illegal immigrants in finding illegal employment. No taxpayer funds should be used to pay for salaries/benefits of executives of groups that threaten the homes, children of those law-abiding citizens who oppose illegal immigration.

I recently came across an article where Hispanics were petitioning and causing a big stink in a school district because they claimed the system didn't represent them.
This particular district had an open voting that represented the entire district instead of certain regions or concentrations of ethnicities.
Don't know if the Hispanics will succeed in getting the policies changed, but isn't their audacity something? Representing everyone isn't good enough. They want their own representation.
Their nerve and ignorance about the way we do things here, is enough to make anyone want to see them deported, legal or not.

Posted by: Born American on February 27, 2006 11:39 AM

I agree with Ralph, this will hurt the 'immigrant's rights' cause. What I always wonder, though, is what, exactly, would the message be to win the hearts and minds of mainstream America?

Someone somewhere is going to open up with an AK 47 on full auto and the press & President & churches & ethnic pimps will all lament the "horrible loss of life" (side unknown) and then go on with business as usual (continuous invasion) right up until we've diminished to the point Tijuana looks good but of course Tijuana has a viable border, we'll blow past Tijuana and end up like Palestine or perhaps worse, they have limited taxes in Palestine.
