New Border Drug Tunnel Largest, Most Luxurious Yet

"Drug smugglers have dug one of the longest, most sophisticated tunnels discovered in recent years along the Mexican border, and the American and Mexican authorities have hauled nearly two tons of marijuana out of it since they entered it on Wednesday, officials said," according to the New York Times. "The tunnel is 60 feet below ground at some points, five feet high, and nearly half a mile long, extending from a warehouse near the international airport in Tijuana, Mexico, to a vacant industrial building in Otay Mesa, Calif., about 20 miles southeast of downtown San Diego. The sophistication of the tunnel surprised officials, who found it outfitted with a concrete floor, electricity, lights and ventilation and groundwater pumping systems."

They need to cave it in and make sure its never used again. I wonder how many tunnels there are? I bet liberals are pissed, not being able to get their drugs.

This was hard to believe, and anyone who saw it knows what I mean.
Likely a drug operation, but could be used for multiple illegal, dangerous activities.
It's a shame people don't put that time and energy into something more constructive, or that our government doesn't put the same amount of work into stopping such activities. I hope they destroy this and things like it. We all know they're out there.

Are we suprised with the level of sophistication and extent of the tunnel[s] ? Maybe. Regardless of that, the tunnels are nothing compared to those dug by our own elected officials* under our own noses-under our own constitution, our civilization, our culture, our entire BEING. God help them all when the dam breaks.*[I refer to them now as RAPEresentatives].* All the same, if we allow ourselves to be discouraged , we hand victory to the enemy. And we dont want to do that, do we?
If we are to be defeated, it should be by a worthy opponant on the field of valor, not by a nation of chicken thieves who have used our best quality as a noose to strangle us with. FIGHT ON PATRIOTS! WE HAVENT YET BEGUN TO FIGHT!

there are marijuana farms all over in the national parks where few hikers travel. They are manned by illegal aliens and gangs. Very dangerous. Seen a couple of articles on them in past 5 years.

Sequoia National Park is one of them.

There is some serious "bud" coming in from our northern friends too... BC bud as it effectionately called.

Dope, Terrorists, Illegals, Criminals, Weapons, Human Trafficing, can all come accross the border, now of course (well just another now) we find one more tunnel. I would bet that there are plenty more tunnels, so now its UNDER THE BORDER.

I wonder what wages those that dug the tunnel recieved? Bullet? Tongue removal? All buildings within a mile of the border should be suspect.

Secure our Borders! Reform Immigration Laws! Military on the Borders to Fight the Foriegn military crossing into our land smuggling dope, and ???

Weak knee president and cowardly politicians, all in it for themselves, money, and could care less for you and I.

Peace! (Price of weed just went up!)

This wasn't an overnight, dig it with a spoon style...the elaborate system was well backed on both sides of the border...finding out who owns that warehouse and holding them responsible is a start...if they won't talk, let them take the fall and put them away for life!

They are asking anyone who may have participated in the building to come forward, for protection from the drug lords...that's a little like getting someone to admit to farting in an elevator...

It just can't be that hard to find these tunnels with hand held ground sonar. It seems we only find them after they have been used.

Looks like to me that tunnel is big enough to carry into this country numerous nuke weapons, scarry thought. Just think how much the terriorists would pay to rent that tunnel for a given period of time ??
Just hope any big bang goes off in Mexifornia, not Texas. And we are being protected against the bad guys, what a joke. One would have to think something big would happen during the Bush years, they hate him so much. I just hope all I have mentioned does not happen.

i'm quite familiar with this area of the border (both sides). there are cameras everywhere. they constantly survey the US and mexican side of the border. because this tunnel required the displacement of at least several hundred truckloads (not pickup trucks) of dirt there is no way in hell our government did not know this tunnel was being dug.

Only big business can afford/justify (ROI) to build a tunnel of this cost.
