New Bill Would Dramatically Increase Immigration "A draft immigration bill from Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter Comments
Until every able-bodied American is working, we can cut our welfare roles to minimal numbers and we have 0% unemployment...we don't need any more foreigners in this country! Sorry folks, but this country can't sustain the people it has now, we don't need to continue overpopulating this nation! Posted by: takn on November 29, 2005 01:27 PM Well said, takn. Posted by: Born American on November 29, 2005 02:05 PM Takn - after all your writing and here is a classic example of someone obviously either exploiting or profiting from illegal immigration - so I'll do it . . . THOSE WHO FAIL TO STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ARE EITHER EXPLOITING IT OR PROFITING FROM IT. THOSE WHO FAIL TO STOP ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION ARE EITHER EXPLOITING IT OR PROFITING FROM IT. Posted by: Sick n' Tired on November 29, 2005 03:11 PM That is a very flattering photo of Specter. Have a look at his most recent photo. Nasferetu anyone? "something for everyone", Arlen? Howzabout truth in advertizing. Lets call it "something for every mexican, race hustler, ceo,and one-worlder." Arlen is Truly Wichita Kansas finest son. Posted by: FornaxUltor on November 29, 2005 03:50 PM Specter, McCain, Kennedy and the rest of the Senate is as brainwashed as they come. They have their own ideas about what is good for us - and those ideas don't reflect the views of rank and file Americans. It is just one more piece of evidence that we hardly function as a legitimate democracy. The Senate receives its regular brainwashing from groups like the Council for Foreign Relations (CFR). Case in point (from Renew America article): Dr. Pastor was asked to speak about the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative as it pertained to America and OUR BORDER ISSUES. What he gave them was the results of the CFR Independent Task Force meeting of 17 May 2005 which basically addresses the Future of North America. Dr. Pastor was to address the committee on the proposal of a new passport for all citizens to travel among the three countries (i.e. Mexico, U.S. and Canada). The purpose of which is to secure the homeland (shades of Nazi Germany). Pastor accused the three country leaders of skepticism and small minded thinking. He stated: We should not be concentrating on U.S. interests. We should not be worrying about the borders of Mexico and Canada but think about the broader context of the continent. The best approach is to integrate economically and socially as quickly as we can..."
Posted by: Cynthia on November 29, 2005 04:29 PM Isn't Spector the one with Cancer; maybe he won't be around to see his bill debated. Posted by: Macman on November 29, 2005 05:19 PM I would like to stop or slow immigration until not only every able-bodied American who wants to work can, but also until most DISABLED Americans have some kind of productive engagement. Even with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the unemployment rate among the disabled is shockingly high. Of course, there are many jobs they cannot do, but as long as there is a surplus of illegals to choose from, why would employers give disabled Americans a chance? Yet it seems to me that if illiterates from other countries can do lawn work and bus tables, could not our mentally challenged Americans do this work also? Posted by: Marianne on November 29, 2005 05:48 PM "Can someone shed some light on why Specter is pushing forward with this ridiculous bill?" Born American, the LONG ANSWER can be found in the first comment I posted. There is A LOT more evidence from actual Senate/Congressional meetings and memorandums leaked to the public or released under the Freedom of Information Act but there isn't enough space here to include more details. IMO, the SHORT ANSWER has to be that Senate leaders and those in the Bush admin are keenly aware that the survival of our economic status quo depends heavily on the rapid growth of our population. I am guessing that there is a consensus among both Dems and Repubs pols that we need something on the order of AT LEAST 2 million immigrants a year to maintain this growth (according to L. Dobbs last year 3M illegals entered the U.S. + 1M legal = 4M immigrants). We need growth not only to prop up the housing industry, but also in preparation for the massive spending that will begin in the next 3-5 years as the 'boomers' start to retire (of the $8T deficit, nearly $2T represents social security obligations) - so that means more workers to increase the worker to retiree ratio... anyway in theory, but the immigrants often bring elderly parents who usually receive some form of govt assistance. So, it seems Specter and others are worried that the revolt over illegal immigration will slow down pop. growth and the solution is more legal immigration to offset the loss. Posted by: Cynthia on November 29, 2005 09:10 PM Problem is, the average American will believe Bush is sincere in his speech ------ we that do the blogs know better, more smoke and mirrors Posted by: guy-rhonda on November 29, 2005 11:33 PM I would like to see those that do the blogs, who are individuals who support other Fellow Americans, send more faxes and letters via FAIR and other organizations like NUMBERSUSA to congressmen and Senators . Sandra Gunn , of FAIR, sends Congressional updates and valued Legislative Info to your E-Mail Address. This is a great opportunity to stay on top of your Congressman and Senators. You simply have to devote a little time to respond in a matter of minutes. As for Arlen Spector, he is a good example of why we should have term limits on Senators. Spector, McCain and Kennnedy can retire anytime while they are not representing the will of the Majority regarding the OUT- OF- CONTROL ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION CRISIS IN OUR COUNTRY. Posted by: Las vegas resident on November 30, 2005 01:07 AM Dear guy-rhonda: I feared the same originally but just got together in a ladies' group--all Baptists. (In case you are not aware of it, Baptists have made supporting "our Christian President Bush" almost a test of whether or not you are "in the true faith" in most of their churches across the land.) Not a single one believed a word the "man" said about the border and the changes he supposedly will enact. All agreed that even if he DID do what he said, it was merely to serve as cover while he pushes his own strange (some said "globalist") agenda. The Christian Right is deeply concerned. There are quiet murmurs everyone concerning the true motives of "this Christian President"--murmurs that he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. We in Texas are drowning in illegals and all the problems springing forth from these chaotic Mexican colonies that they have erected in our cities. While some of the Christian Right are still too afraid to speak their mind about what this "man" has done/not done, many are beginning to desert him. Baptists are pretty "average" here in the South and they are just not fooled. As an aside, when they did the "stop n go" visit to El Paso and did the required photo op for the TV cameras, I could not help but note that our governor Perry (standing behind the president) kept his glance down for all of the "speechlet" that I saw. No smile, no nod of agreement, etc. that I was able to see in the cut that was presented for our viewing. I would say that a total "disconnect" has occurred and Bush is too blind to see it. Posted by: J on November 30, 2005 08:31 AM So, what? Specter gets big cash donations to his next campaign and Bush says it's not his idea to let the flood continue? Thanks.
