Bush Travels to Border to Push Amnesty

"President Bush is trying to build support for a comprehensive immigration strategy even though Congress has shelved the issue for now. Republican congressional leaders postponed work on immigration proposals until early next year, partly because lawmakers are divided over the scope of such changes and whether foreigners illegally working in the United States should be allowed to stay," the Washington Post reports. "Trying to keep the heat on lawmakers, the president was scheduled to leave his Crawford, Texas, ranch after spending nearly a week there for Thanksgiving, to pitch his plan in Tucson, Ariz., on Monday, and El Paso, Texas, on Tuesday."

Here it comes. Amnesty in one hand and a bunch of empty promises in the other.

Once Bush makes up his mind, he refuses to ever reconsider his position. Regardless if the vast majority of Americans do not support that position. For some reason he believes his unwavering support of a bad decision is a noble value. It is foolish, not noble. Bush seems to now believe his own propoganda during the campaign when he attacked challengers for "flipping" on issues. Wise men/women always reconsider their position given new evidence that no longer supports the original conclusion.

A temp "guest worker" program is doomed to fail (in practice). Once here guest workers will most certainly never leave. Would you go back to a 3rd world country after living in relative luxury for years? Especially, if you have 2 or 3 anchor babies. A guest worker program will only further explode mass immigration (legal and illegal). As represenative Hayworth has rightly pointed out, guest worker programs have been tried in several countries around the world, and has failed miserably in every instance. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. But don't let a little thing like the survival of our culture and country deter you from a pursuing bad policy (aka guest worker program), Mr. Bush. You will go down in history alright, but as the worst bumling boob we have ever elected POTUS.

Surely this man (I no longer call him "president") fully understands and knows the incredible costs incurred by these "amnesties" that have taken place in the past. Surely he has those around him who supply him with the facts concerning the erosion of the American culture and its supplanting by the always-failing Mexican culture in large areas of the Southwest. Surely he is not ignorant of the will of the people (both native Americans and legal immigrants) who desire that no amnesty take place and that enforcement be tightened and strengthened.

Surely this man can be deemed to be nothing else and nothing more than a traitor if he continues to push the amnesty agenda.

He is without excuse.

King George is going to try anything he can to push this amnesty program. Sometimes I think he should do like Prince Arnold did and take it to the people and see what we think since it is "majority rule" in this country.

I think the only way I would accept any sort o amnesty program is they go back and apply or a work visa for one year, enter this country, pay taxes on wages, get no welfare, no free medical care and no free educational benefits. If they want the American Way they do it OUR way or no way. Even then I am apprehensive of ANY amnesty program.

The Secret Service should take this guy across the Border into Mexico and leave him there. Let's see if there is a job there for him that Americans won't do because he certainly isn't doing a job here that Americans WOULD do.

More delays and indecision.
Thank you President Bush for putting American citizens second to the rest of the poor, disadvantage souls of the world. Americans will soon be right up there with them.
Too bad he didn't cross over the border and stay in Mexico. Him and Vicente Fox make a great team!

Posted by: Born American on November 28, 2005 11:18 AM

Hopefully, Congress will Totally ignore this photo op. King George II doesn't want ANYTHING to keep the borders from being an interstate highway from mexico to the U. S. I am surprized he has not BUILT an interstate type highway heading North from the border.

For a crooked politician who has NO credibility on this issue to go through this exercise is a waste of my taxpayer $$$$. Screw him.

We can only hope that the lawmakers, who are coming up for re-election next year will not pay heed to this 'lamest' of all lame duck presidents?

Please PLEase, PLEASE !!!

The combination of amnesty for 20 M illegal aliens and our laws on chain migration will result not only in the de facto merger of Mexico and the U.S. but also a potential population increase of 100M - 300M in a relatively short period of time. (Not to mention that Specter and other senate quislings are working feverishly to increase the number of legal immigrants from 1M to 2M per year.)

We should demand that our political leaders address the long term ramifications of yet another amnesty. It is reckless to ignore the issue of natural carrying capacity - not just for survival but also for a minimum quality of life.

A very good example of limited resources and natural carrying capacity came last week out of China in news reports about a chemical factory explosion that led to a benzene spill (which is highly carcinogenic). With 1.3 B people, China is struggling to provide adequate drinking water for its citizens. From AP "China ranks among countries with smallest water supplies per person. Hundreds of cities regularly suffer shortages of water for drinking or industry. Protests have erupted in rural areas throughout China over complaints that pollution is ruining water supplies and damaging crops." An expert on China's water crisis said "this is the tip of the iceberg."

Massive water shortages are also problematic in India and throughout Africa and will only worsen in these countries as their population growth continues to outstrip the availability of clean water. Even the U.S. is looking at long term water shortages as we continue to deplete huge aquifers. (For an in-depth analysis of global water shortages read "Blue Gold" by Maude Barlow.) The situation is dire and will only worsen as global warming picks up speed.

Of course, the same global corporations that have supported mass immigration for the U.S. now see the potential for major profits by buying up water rights around the world and then selling that water to the highest bidder. MNCs that include Enron and Bechtel have already been very active in this arena for 10+ years and a few years ago held an international conference in which political and business policy strategists (including some U.N backers) decreed that, from henceforth, water should be viewed as a commodity that can be traded on the global market. That means that an MNC has the right to buy the water rights anywhere in smalltown-USA and then sell it to India or China or back to smalltown-USA residents at grossly inflated prices. IT IS GLOBALIZATION RUN AMUCK. The Brits have already sold most of their water rights, the French have sold some but there have been rebellions and residents fought back to overturn the agreements that their corrupt politicians signed. A physicist in India has been organizing extremely poor Indians to fight back the devastation of water privatization by MNCs, and a few villages in South America have also organized and successfully fought back.

Finally, I will offer an anecdoctal example of how China has exceeded its carrying capacity. A former colleague, a neurologist from China, told me that in his home country had been a cigarette smoker for many years. He rationalized his smoking by pointing out the most men smoke in China and also his patients used to bring him cartons of cigarettes (considered a nice gift and a way to get better service from docs). I chastised him for smoking, as a physician he knew the risks for cancer, heart disease and strokes. He said a study in China found that large cities like Beijing had such a high level of pollution that it was equivalent to smoking 5 PACKS of cigarettes a day, so he reasoned that smoking a pack of cigarettes each day only increased his risk by 20%.

CARRYING CAPACITY IS NOT A HIGHLY CHARGED ISSUE IN THE IMMIGRATION DEBATE BUT IT HAS LONG TERM CONSEQUENCES WE CANNOT IGNORE

Clarification on the decree that water is now a commodity: It was emphasized that water is NOT a human right or human need (i.e. access to water from a person's own region) - so if villagers are too poor to afford the market price for the water under their own feet - then too bad.

On the LIGHTER SIDE, but related to mass immigration - esp. from 3rd world countries. The NY Times reported that NY City has a big problem now with BED BUGS. These pesky critters were essentially wiped out after WWII with DDT, but now hordes of immigrants in NYC have brought this scourge with them and it is spreading like wildfire - even in posh districts. TOO BAD WE CAN'T SEND OVER A CONTINGENT OF BED BUGS TO THE WHITE HOUSE SO BUSH CAN GET A SAMPLING SOME OF THE PROBLEMS MASS IMMIGRATION BRINGS.

One thing that's missing in this debate.

Where are the "conservative" talk show hosts like Limbaugh, Hannity, and O'Reilly.

Bush continues to pilot the ship of state into the iceberg, and the bootlickers of the "conservative" media continue to apologize for him.

When the things he does are so ludicrous that they' can't even provide cover for him, then they change the subject to sideshows like the Cindy Sheehan protest.

Those guys are one of the biggest obstacles to reform. Millions of zombies listen to their programs, leading to their remaining clueless about what George W. Bush is doing to America.

Wow: Take a close look. Washington Post actually used the phrase "illegal aliens"!

Bush-Mexico/India Trojan Horse.

The more I think about it, Bush putting this plan together is pretty much like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. It looks different than it was before but the ultimate destiny is the same.

I have spent my entire morning, emailing and faxing my reps...I am waiting for just one of them to speak out against any pseudo-amnesty, which we all know this is!

Not one person in DC or in the media has even raised the question...how do you tell the citizen children of illegals they must leave this country once their parents tenure under this proposed "guestworker" plan is up???

They can't force citizens out of their own country, so what will they do??? They will offer amnesty to any "guestworker" with children...you know it will happen!

I am on needles and pins waiting for this speech...I am already so worked up I don't know if there's anything the president can say that will stop my anger!

We must have full interior and business enforcement and security before we can even discuss "guestworkers"...we have millions on welfare who can work, we have thousands of military personnel who will need jobs when they return from war, we have millions of our own citizen teens and college students who need work and the opportunity to better themselves! We have thousands of Amercan citizens who continue to be downsized and laid off and this president stands with welcoming arms for a bunch of criminals!!!

"They can't force citizens out of their own country, so what will they do??? They will offer amnesty to any "guestworker" with children...you know it will happen!"

That's an excelent point. They just want them in here first, and then deal with it(or don't really) after it's way too late.

America is doomed!

Five years ago, the world watched as Bush sat for 7 minutes reading 'My Pet Goat' to a group of first graders as the second attack on the WTC was occurring.

Four months ago, the country waited for a response to Katrina.....it took him four days to realize what was happening and take to the cameras.

For the past 5 years, our country has been invaded and he STILL doesn't get it!

Today in Arizona, Bush did not disappoint us. In fact, he outdid himself. He mentioned "NO AMNESTY" so many times that I almost believed it myself. Unfortunately, as usual, there was no follow through. Expect another surge of illegals after today's speech....

Wait until the economy tanks...hospitals are closing all over the country...construction will be slowing..consumer spending will go down..foreclosures will be up, etc. The only people who will survive are the Mexicans because they will be better at survival...instead of ten illegals in a house they will have twenty.

As George Bush said when asked by Bob Woodard what he thought his legacy would be, he answered "Who cares, we'll all be dead!"

Posted by: mexiphobic on November 28, 2005 09:23 PM

I saw the speech... I am sadly disappointed. I have supported the RNC agenda for decades and when we have a Republican president... they allow him to run this country into the ground.

I will be voting for the nominees who will secure our borders from terrorists, dope dealers, criminals, and ILLEGAL ALIENS!

Dan Stein, Tom Tancredo - Run for President!

READ MY LIPS! NO MORE AMNESTIES!

The one's pushing this should be chased from Office,The Open Borders Treason Lobby should be shut DOWN!

Posted by: Critter on November 29, 2005 07:04 AM

By the way:

Regarding McCain Kennedy:

After studying those guys' bill it is clear to me that McCain is partly right that it is not an amnesty.

It is far worse than an amnesty. In my book I refer to it as an "open borders bill". I think that is more accurate than an "amnesty bill".

I would like to try to get the term "open borders bill" part of the lexicon for discussion of McCain Kennedy, because it is more accurate and it also shows just what utter garbage the McCain Kennedy bill is.

Posted by: lance sjogren on November 29, 2005 09:25 AM

We need to get David Spade the head up the Bush Amnesty plan . . . NO. The answer is still NO!

Posted by: Sick n' Tired on November 29, 2005 10:15 AM

The president wants amnesty for illegal immigrants no matter what he prefers to call it. If he proposes to ignore their law breaking and even reward it with special treatment America will never see the end of the invasion of millions of self-serving lawbreakers each year. Why should they care what we think if we don't care how they act? This isn't anything close to what the overwhelming majority of Americans demand from Washington according to poll after poll after poll.
What a sad example of Washington's inability to do what the people require without political agendas perverting even safety and security matters.
We see grandmothers on TV trying to protect the border. We see congress and the White House basically preventing Americans from locking their doors. This is a war on terror, right? What right does anyone have to gamble people's lives for political favor? In court this would be called crinimal neglect.
